It's definitely more water based than cream. It is in no way a cream-based product, or a lip stick. The applicator is like a felt-tip marker, and the color comes out like ink.

For me, it doesn't last to lunchtime... but I've tried several products and this one doesn't dry my lips out like other stains do... i don't mind having to re-apply a few times because the color is great and it doesn't clump, run or dry out my lips.

I would really determine on how much of it you use on one application. All of the colors available in this line are bold and vibrant so you really don't have to use much to get desired color. I would say if you use the applicator lightly it should last you about a month and a half or more depending on if you would really use it that often.

Lipstain, specifically Josie Maran will not alter your lip color forever. The Josie Maran Lipstain line will last you hours, if not an entire day. I think it depends on if you want your lips to have a vibrant pop of color for an extended amount of time or not. The one thing I tell people before applying lipstain is make sure you want that pop of color and make sure you apply it very precisely, because once you apply, its hard to go back-until it naturally fades out on it's own. I think it is a fabulous product.

Unfortunately, not this one. (I wish it would stain permanently!)

I think you need a tatoo for more permanent staining. And even facial/make-up tatoos don't last forever. (And if you do pursue tatooing, you need to choose the artist SUPER carefully. I've seen HORRORS!) The product that HAS stained eyes is the Latisse and other brands that can stain blue/green/grey eyes a browner pigment. But my cermat says it's rare.

I am the same skin color and blonde. Mambo is what I tried, it was just a tad orange, I'm picky and hate orange. I believe this color accents blue eyes, but orange on yellow skin tone may not be best.

Stains are always unique to your body chemisrty, but it wasn't super bright at all.

I know a wine color looks great on Me, I haven't tried enough to make a suggestion further than what I have written...I would have posted the same question and look foreward to reading other answers!!!

Hi! Mambo is actually a fairly neutral color. It's kind of a light/medium brownish color, I really like it. I also think Waltz would be good for you. It's a soft rosy color. I put all the colors on the back of my hand and took a couple of pictures (in different light) so everyone can (hopefully) see how the colors really look. Hope that helps! =D

PS - I didn't put Flamenco on my hand because I already posted a review of me wearing it. In case anyone is wondering why it isn't in the picture.

Question
Pale what color?
I have fair skin with dark brown hair and gray eyes (i.e. sometimes greener sometimes more blue). My skin seems to be neither cool nor warm. It has a tendency to have some pink undertones though...but with the dark brown hair...that makes me appear more of a warm undertone. I have noticed that a coral or pink color on the lips tends to make my eyes pop more, which I like. So what color do you suggest?

I'm very fair with dark auburn/brunette hair and green eyes, with neutral undertones as well. I bought this in Waltz and have really liked it. It's not coral, but a good rose color. I don't feel it emphasizes any redness in my skin, and I've really liked the color. Hope this helps!

I think warm tones (coral, pink, amber) seems to bring out blue/grey eyes better, especially with brown hair. I think it'll make your skin look richer as well. I really like contrasting eyeshadow in earthy tones, light color across the middle, dark brown or plum in the crease & at the "cat eye" outside of the lid. I also like black, fairly thick eyeliner on the top lid right at the lashes to separate the eye color from the lid. Coral lips work well with brown hair and mid-range skintone. Just a little tan blush on the cheeks & forehead add brightness.

Don't apply the maker over any kind of lip balm or it will gum up the tip. You have to buy into the whole color. You can put a little lip balm on top once it sets. Set the pen cap on with the cap down for about 5 minutes and then lay it on its side. The proper amount should come out.

I apply using the side of the marker. I am guessing you only use the tip? I have no problems with it drying out. Make sure you keep the cap on tight. Also, I store it laying down on it's side. Are you storing it with the tip up?

Question
LOVE Mambo, hate applicator. Suggestions for other products?
I don't like feeling stuff on my lips (balm, gloss, lipstick, etc.) and that's why I tried this lip stain. It's hard for me to find lip colors I like, but I am absolutely IN LOVE with Mambo. I do hate how rough the applicator feels on my lips, though. Has anyone seen this color elsewhere?

At first the applicator felt a little rough. I figured it might also be my chapped lips so I have been treating my lips with Blistex with Co Q-10. It has helped to heal my lips. Also, the sales person at Sephora told me to shake the applicator a few times so it gets the stain to the top of the brush. Another hint is to not lay the applicator flat. It seems to kind of drip a little. Fortunately, the cover has an inner cover that keeps it from leaking out.
