For me, it doesn't last to lunchtime... but I've tried several products and this one doesn't dry my lips out like other stains do... i don't mind having to re-apply a few times because the color is great and it doesn't clump, run or dry out my lips.

I would really determine on how much of it you use on one application. All of the colors available in this line are bold and vibrant so you really don't have to use much to get desired color. I would say if you use the applicator lightly it should last you about a month and a half or more depending on if you would really use it that often.

It's definitely more water based than cream. It is in no way a cream-based product, or a lip stick. The applicator is like a felt-tip marker, and the color comes out like ink.

Question
Pale what color?
I have fair skin with dark brown hair and gray eyes (i.e. sometimes greener sometimes more blue). My skin seems to be neither cool nor warm. It has a tendency to have some pink undertones though...but with the dark brown hair...that makes me appear more of a warm undertone. I have noticed that a coral or pink color on the lips tends to make my eyes pop more, which I like. So what color do you suggest?

I am pale with blonde hair and blue eyes and use Jive. The trick with pale skin is to quickly dot the cheek 2-3 times and quickly rub in. It looks very natural and brightens my complexion.

I think warm tones (coral, pink, amber) seems to bring out blue/grey eyes better, especially with brown hair. I think it'll make your skin look richer as well. I really like contrasting eyeshadow in earthy tones, light color across the middle, dark brown or plum in the crease & at the "cat eye" outside of the lid. I also like black, fairly thick eyeliner on the top lid right at the lashes to separate the eye color from the lid. Coral lips work well with brown hair and mid-range skintone. Just a little tan blush on the cheeks & forehead add brightness.

Lipstain, specifically Josie Maran will not alter your lip color forever. The Josie Maran Lipstain line will last you hours, if not an entire day. I think it depends on if you want your lips to have a vibrant pop of color for an extended amount of time or not. The one thing I tell people before applying lipstain is make sure you want that pop of color and make sure you apply it very precisely, because once you apply, its hard to go back-until it naturally fades out on it's own. I think it is a fabulous product.

Unfortunately, not this one. (I wish it would stain permanently!)

I think you need a tatoo for more permanent staining. And even facial/make-up tatoos don't last forever. (And if you do pursue tatooing, you need to choose the artist SUPER carefully. I've seen HORRORS!) The product that HAS stained eyes is the Latisse and other brands that can stain blue/green/grey eyes a browner pigment. But my cermat says it's rare.

Question
Is this still long-wearing with lip gloss over it?
I've tried several other lipstains that are long-wearing until I top them with lip gloss, then they come off completley with the gloss. I want to know if this is still very long-wearing topped with lip gloss, or if lip gloss decreases the staying power?

I got this lip stain in Flamenco and topped it off with a cherry colored gloss and it definitely did not completely remove all the color. I did notice that the color wasnt AS deep as it initially was, so it did remove it a bit after eating and drinking for about 4-5 hours, but it was still a perfect red lip; no patches without color or anything like that.

This stain actually works like a stain should. It soaks into your lips; so, when you apply lip gloss, the color does not come off. I only use lip stains so I can kiss my kids without leaving lipstick all over them. You should always be able to wear gloss over a stain without it taking the color off, but I haven't found many that worked like that.

Question
What color looks like DuWop's Twilight Venom?
I am 19 and have very fair skin, soft black hair, and medium brown eyes. I loveeee DuWop's Twilight Venom, but it wears off extremely fast, like under two hours. I am in love with the color, though. It is a red(not maroon, or pinkish, or plum) but a very dark shade of red. I don't want a bright marischino color, but more of a darker, blood-red. Nothing with any type of pink undertone, because those colors tend to turn hot pink on my lips. Something long lasting. Do any of these fit into that category? If not, can you recommend something that sounds like what i am describing?
Thank you!

Josie Marans lip stain in Flamenco can be built up to a deep, red color. The description says a "maraschino cherry red", but as you layer it on, it's a bit deeper, more like the "blood red" you're looking for. They are now carrying the product in-store, so you can swatch to see for yourself. Hope this helps!

i don't think this would be for you. this does have pink undertones and isn't at all blood red. we have the same hair and skin tone and i wear mostly blood red but gave this a try. more pink than i would wear but i works for me for daytime and i was really hoping to find a red stain instead of lipstick but this isn't it. the best blood red lipstick around is "vintage red" by clinique.

This isnt by the duwop line but it's by Revlon. It'sa great stain, a teeny bit drying but lasts forever. Try the color SUperb Sangria. Its a bit on the darker side not pinky or bright and when applied with a light touch it comes off like a just bitten look. Topped with gloss would look really good.

I had the same experience and only wish I had save the packing so that I could return the markers and other lip product. Did you order your marker singularly or as part of a set? Mine was part of a collection, which I assume was compiled so that Josie Maran could unload aging and inferior products. I’d still like to find a functional “magic marker” as the idea is a good one. Do you know of any?

I hope you get your replacement so you get a chance to fall in love with this product like I have. Mine generally last at least 6 months with 7 days a week usage, The only thing I can think of that would make it not last (besides leaving the cap off) is trying to touch it up after you've put balm or gloss on--like trying to use a marker over crayon--the wax just clogs the tip and no color can get out, ruined. I put mine on once in the morning on scrubbed lips, finish with lipstick and both stay on until I wash my face at night.

At first the applicator felt a little rough. I figured it might also be my chapped lips so I have been treating my lips with Blistex with Co Q-10. It has helped to heal my lips. Also, the sales person at Sephora told me to shake the applicator a few times so it gets the stain to the top of the brush. Another hint is to not lay the applicator flat. It seems to kind of drip a little. Fortunately, the cover has an inner cover that keeps it from leaking out.
