I've tried them all. De Slick does exactly what the tube says it does. For years I've been trying products and techniques to combat the oil that comes through my make-up and makes my face looks super shiny. I got so used to checking my face every hour and having to fix my oiliness, that I felt chained to my compact. Now I am FREE!! Good Luck!

smashbox feels a little greasy to me and doesn't seem to last as long.

I have used both and I like to use the products together. I see the De-Slick more as a spot treatment product for oily areas rather than a full on "primer." I like to use de-slick in addition to the primer that is already being used, like your smashbox primer. You can apply your primer first and then use De-Slick over areas of the skin you where you find you get very oily.

I have tried both. I have super oily skin, live in a very humid place, and have tried a lot of primers, including Smashbox Photo Primer Light. I barely noticed a difference in my skin when I used Smashbox. Urban Decay's De-Slick in a Tube is the best I've ever tried. I wash my face, put on a little moisturizer and let it dry, then spread a small amount of De-Slick on my face (just enough to cover my face), and apply Bare Minerals foundation. My makeup stays on, my pores are a little tighter, and my oil problem is so much better. I hope this helps. :)

I've used both the UD de-slick and the Smashbox primer light and usually use them together. I have combination skin, and I loved how the Smashbox primer made my skin smooth and temporarily matte. But in oily spots like my T-zone, my skin would still look shiny after a couple hours--very frustrating! So I'm so glad I found UD de-slick--I just smooth a tiny amount of it on my t-zone after I've used my Smashbox primer and skin not only loks smooth and matte immediately--the effects last all day! I highly recommend using these products together. Hope this helps!

Smashbox's face primer is the BEST! I totally love it. I would only use Urban Decay's De-Slick when you've got your makeup on for the day and want a quick fix for any oil that might be showing on your face. I would NOT use this as a primer... this product isn't intended to be used as a primer anyway.

The Smashbox Photo Light primer and Urban Decay De-Slick are two different types of product. The primer is meant to use under make up to help the make up stay on longer throughout the day. The Urban Decay is a mattifying gel which is formulated to help skin stop from being oily/greasy throughout the day. If you wanted to use both, I would say use this product as a first step on the t-zone, then the primer over it to help give make up that staying power.

i only used a the smashbox primer once and hav also used the de slick and personally i prefer de slick

I have used both products. The Smashbox Primer really didn't do anything for me at all. I was an oily mess by the early AM. I love the De-Slick, works throughout the entire day for me.

hey good question- i actually think this is more comparable to smashbox's anti-shine. I use the primer and love to use it in the morning under my foundation, but I like to have the de-slick (which i prefer over anti-shine) in the afternoon instead of dealing with the mess of blotting papers or powder.

I don't use a primer on my forehead I use the De-Slick on clean, moisturized skin and then put on my foundation, (I use Dior.) I do use a small amount of primer on my lower face and do use the De-Slick on my nose and chin under the primer. On somedays I've found I've skipped the primer and just used the de-slick and my skin looks just as great. Good Luck!

i use both too. i put the deslick under my poreless. but i dont use poreless everywere. i do use deslick uner any primer. u should try nars primer its not oily at all. alot like deslick they work well together

I dont see why not. I use it over a serum and a moisturizer from ole hendrikson in the AM before i put my mineral foundation on. I also use it on top of my makeup later in the day, so it seems to work at any "layer" of your routine, so to speak! It works by absorbing oil so its more versatile than some of the "pore refining" shine minimizers out there.

u can try 2 wear the 2 2gether, but sometimes when 2 products arent compatable they will pill up on your face and roll off as u are putting them on over each other so all u can do is give it a try and if it does not work return the one u dont care 4.

I use mine over my primer (Make-up Forever although now I have switched to Sephora's clear primer). It feels and glides on like silk. My skin feels like silk when I am done with that primer as well. But that is not what you asked about. Sorry got distracted. I have not had any issues using it over my primer before I put my makeup on. use small amounts and dab it on with a little touch for smoothing it out.

I use this over primer and concealer (with a little bit of powder foundation on top if I feel it's necessary). Doesn't mess anything up!

yes, i use a moistrzr, wait a bit, spread this all over my face, around eye area as well, wait a bit, apply concealrs, and or sometimes foundation, and i go with a dap of clinique pore minimizer on top of it all, i think that is layering a lot, but they all work together, i have not used the urban decay primer with this, because i did not like the primer.. it was too heavy and didnt help with pores and oilyness, so am not sure how it will work with that...also u have to apply very little of this, and make sure to spread evenly otherwise it will dry and some white spots will appr which will not wipe off unless u rub it off with dump cloth, or makeup rmovr. get a little sample of this first and play around with it, u will love it, even more than ur primer!

I find that I don't need a primer....this helps my makekup stay in place too.

It is kinda hard to apply! You dont want to use too much but it kind of, sticks right to your skin in a way thats hard to describe so you dont get a lot of time to spread it around. i put it on a fingertip, and then kind of mush my fingertips together and pat it on. That's my unscientific answer! good luck.

Wash your face and then apply over clean skin. After it dries apply your regular primer and foundation.

I prefer to apply it after i've applied my foundation and set my makeup.... because thats when i start to shine. I've put it on before foundation and it doesn't really help much in my opinion. However if you don't wear make up put it on after a shower or before you go out... you won't get shiny for hours!

A little on your finger tips for your problem zones. You can put it under foundation, on top of it or alone.

I use clinique's three step cleansing system and use the De-Slick gel about five minutes after I apply my moisturizer. Then I apply my foundation.

I use this under foundation and I touch up with it over makeup during the day.

put a little on your index or middle finger and gently rub in each part of your face forehead, cheeks, chin, nose, etc. wait till feels dry a few seconds then apply your favorite powder or go au natural.

Over clean, well moisturized skin. Don''t rub it in just sweep over skin with CLEAN fingertips! No brushes or sponges needed!

Use extremely small amounts of the product.and dab it on with a gentle touch and the smooth over area with a light touch. If you put too much pressure on the product as you smooth it over the area, it tends to gum up and then your makeup will look "caked" in those areas.

Sparingly with your finger tip. Make sure to rub in well. I use it under my makeup.

its light weight and it didnt clog pores but it didnt help much with the shine. idk if i was just using to much or what other then the make up not staying on my face longer it was great

I havent had any breakouts or clogged pores to speak of. It does everything it promises. I am happy with it and I have VERY sensitive skin. Worth a shot.

It's very light weight and it dries quickly, but I haven't really noticed any pore minimization. And what it does is it creates almost like a second layer of skin to prevent the oil from breaking through.

I HAVE SENSITIVE, COMBINATION SKIN AND I USE THIS ON A DAILY BASIS. I HAVEN'T BROKEN OUT FROM IT, IT MAKES MY FACE LOOK PERFECT!!! IT DOES MINIMIZE MY PORES AS WELL AS SHINE! IT IS ALSO VERY LIGHTWEIGHT! DOESN'T CLOG MY PORES! :) I RECOMMEND IT!

It hasn't caused me to break out any, and I have acne prone skin. It is very light and a little goes a long way. Non- greasy and it doesn't cake on bare skin or with make-up (under or on top, i've worn it both ways).

I think you should not use anything on acne prone skin unless it says, "will not clog pores." Use things with Retin A or salicylic acid to help with the acne breakouts. I would ask a dermatologist. Good Luck!

yes, please get this, i have used everything u can find in sephora for shine and oilyness, and this is amazing! it gives u a perfect matte skin, which will last a long time, i m not sure how many hours though, i never paid attention to that, but who cares, u can put a little for retouch as u need, u lose nothing but gain for buying this, trust me!

I have bad acne also, and I recently started using De-Slick in a Tube. It hasn't worsened my acne at all or irritated my skin in any way. I have extremely oily skin, and using this as a makeup primer makes my skin so much better. Hope this helps!

I'm very prone to breakouts, so this is always a concern for me when it comes to face products too. This product is very effective and will control oil and shine all day, under makeup or alone. I have very oily and acne prone skin, and I use this after my Clinique 3-step program for Oily/Acne prone skin. I've used it pretty religiously for the past 3 weeks and haven't had it cause any problems for me whatsoever!

I occaisionally break out (not very much though, especially on my forehead) but after using this product, I broke out.

I'm acne prone too, and it hasn't made me break out at all. Helps control the oil as well.

I have frequent breakouts and while this product hasn't helped reduce my breakouts, it has made me appear oil free when applied. It really does tighten the pores to help reduce the amount of oil produced. So yes, go for it!

yes, this is fine for acne prone skin. Just make sure you pat it on gently AFTER foundation is on. This makes it work best!

I like De-Slick much, much better. Use it in conjuction with the De-Slick spray. They work.

The De-slick keeps my T-zone less shiny than the smashbox antishine.

De-Slick wins hands down against Smashbox's Anti-shine!!! Smashbox left me extremely shiny, and my makeup started running. De-Slick has been able to keep me matte for a coupe of hours, and I have not had any issues with my makeup running.

I just started using smashbox and I TOTALLY LOVE IT;) I've been using De-Slick for over a year, but i recently went to Sephora and spotted Smashbox and have been hooked ever since. it controls oil all day with no exceptions its been in the 90's here and my face it oil and moisture free! I had read all kinds of great reviews on this product and thought why not give it a shot. I have an extremely oily T-zone and my make seems to just melt in that area. I've been using this product for about two weeks now and I'm not too impressed. It makes my pores appear larger. I still look shiny on most days. I also noticed that it flakes a bit. You don't use much at all, a little goes a long way and I was told to only apply in the areas that needed it. I'm thinking I may try the de-slick powder and see if that works better for me. I'm usually disappointed too--many products promise to mattify, but within a few hours, my t-zone is shiny--very frustrating! But this one really does help. It doesn't even take very much of the product. You just dab it on oily spots and blend it really well and it banishes shine all day! I understand your skepticism, but the results of this product really are worth the money--I definitely recommend at least trying a sample of it. Hope this helps!

For me it keeps my makeup from migrating all over my face, but i still need to use blotting sheets part-way during the day. Except with this i only need one sheet instead of two. Hope this helps!

This one really seems to work for me!!! And I have tried a lot of them out there!! I like this one cause if need be you can use it during the day and it doesn't mess your make up at all. I just dust it with a light touch of powder after applying again and I am good to go!!!

I wouldn't expect a full day of matte finish... but you'll get a couple extra hours. Chances are you'll have to reapply throughout the day- I do.

I think it really works, the only issue would be for how long. For me I get several hours out of it min of four, but you can reapply this on top of foundation as an alternative to blotting powders which also remover foundation, this doesn't do that.

I wear this and bareminerals matte foundation everyday and I've never had any problems. You just have to make sure that you apply the de-slick properly: a little goes a long way and since it's thicker and a bit clumpy, you have to do a really good job of blending it into your skin before you apply your mineral foundation. No, not at all. I also have very oily skin and this product does not clump at all. Just be sure to evenly spread it on your face. It can leave white patches once you start to put on your foundation. To take care of that, just dab the area with a little water. I really love this primer. I got a sample with one order and decided to buy an entire tube!

I use both the BE matte powder foundation and the BE mineral veil and put this on top of it...it does not cake and in fact you can tell you are wearing it but you can definitely see there is NO shine...so to me it's worth it to buy it...

I use Bare Escentuals as well, and have had no problems with this. Just put some on your hands, rub your hands together lightly and then pat this on your face. You can't really rub it in. Works great!

I use concealer then a mineral powder to finish and set my makeup and have never had a problem yet. But I'm not certain how exactly this would work for you, but sephora has such a great return and exchange program that I would give it a try.

i m not sure about the acne, but this works wonders for controllng oil and goes a long way, but i am sure nothing will keep skin oil free for 12 hours, that is just not realistic! u might need less than a pea size touch up mid day. this product is truly wonderful. i love love love it!

I have pretty bad acne and very oily skin. But after using De-Slick, my face stays matte for several hours! I really recommend it.

As much as I am a fan of Tarte, I would go for this one!!! De-Slick is what I have been looking for for 5 years and is AWESOME! I only wish they made it in a super-size like the eyeshadow potion!!! Maybe they do...or will. Anyway, I am a girl who has very oily (Italian) skin and after applying this at 7 am, my face is matte until about 3-4 pm. Can't go wrong!

I have never tried the Tarte product but give this a try. You can always return it. I am acne prone too but have been religious about washing when I use it because I apply it over primer and tinted moisturizer. I am a nurse and work 12 hour nights.

I also have very oily skin and when I'm driving during the day find myself looking in the rear view mirror sometimes shocked at the grease dripping off my face, but not with this stuff...it looks great on. I use over my makeup and i stay shine free all day.

I have combination skin that is dry in some spots too, and based on my experience, this product does work to control oil in the T-zone. You just have to apply a little to that area and blend it really well. Also, don't put it on dry or sensitive spots. I've noticed that it can make dry skin worse and irritate sensitive skin, so it's not something that you can just spread over your whole face. For combination skin, it's best to just dab it on oily spots only. Hope this helps!

I am the same way, I just apply it to my T-zone, then blend it out over my checks & forehead. It is color-less.

I do not have combination skin- BUT, I think you'd be safe to try it. My skin dries out fairly easy from harsh products and I have never had that problem with this product.

I did not experience any dryness with this product. I have combination skin as well. However, I don't think that it did enough to make a huge difference. Doesn't block amount of oil produced, still had to blot throughout the day.

I would recommend this product for all skin types. If you like get a sample of this and Smashbox anti shine and Benefit Porefessional, they all three are good products and for me do the same thing. If your oily anywhere these are awesome, also you can apply this under or over foundation and only in spots where you get oily, for instance I have mature skin but oily so I don't put this under my eyes where I have wrinkles.

Yes, it definitely would. I have super sensitive/oily/combination/easy to break out skin type, and it is amazing for my skin. I am very happy with this product.
