To prolong faux tan is to exfoliate prior any self tanner application, wait few hours, and after first shower and every shower moisturize. Tantowel keeps me tan up to 5 days, and fades gradually, for darker shade I use it in 2 days in a row.

answer 11
As this formula is for medium to dark skintones it has a more dramatic initial tan look than most other self tanners designed for all skintones.

If you exfoliate prior to self tanning and do not exfoliate after self tanning, you may see results for up to a week. Typically most see the tan fade after 3-5 days.

If you want a deeper tan and one that lasts for the next month, I would suggest the 10. I am fair-skinned and I have to use two towels to get any noticeable color. It washes out within a week of showering.

I would check into the Clarins products for a much deeper, longer-lasting bronze look.

I got the 10 towelettes because I figured based on the cost, it was about the same and I knew I wouldn't always be using it on every part of my body and I didn't want to be wasting a whole towelette. With 1 of the smaller ones, I was able to use it all over my face, neck, arms, chest and stomach area and all areas came out pretty tan. I just used one side and then flipped it over and used another.

How to use on hands
I've been using these towels for a few weeks and really like them, but I am having problems with my hands staying lighter than my arms because it says to wash your hands immediately after use. Any suggestions for how to maintain a little color on my hands so that it doesn't look so funny?

When I apply self tanner, I usually make it so I'm only washing my palms- it's tricky but if you're careful it can be done. Also, make sure to get between your fingers, as I always get dark spots in those areas.

I have the same issue! I try to at least get the backs of my hands. After I wash them, I pick up the towel with two fingers and rub the backs of my hands, then only wash the two fingers. I know this sounds lame, but it's the best solution I've come up with. :)

what I do is try to only get water on the palms of your hands, rub them together, and then rub them on a towel, making sure to rub in between your fingers and near your wrists as well, that way you don't rinse the sunless tanner off the tops of your hands but get it off the palms

I have a few baby wipes on the counter handy and after i apply to my face,etc- i rub the baby wipes between my hands, getting between my fingers and around the wrist(where you normally would want it to blend). I had similar issues with my hands being lighter than my arms. Also, I put lotion(cocoa butter) on my nails/cuticles to prevent them from turning orange.

When instructed to wash hands immediately it primarily means your palms and between your fingers. To apply to the back of your hands simply place something between your hand and the towel, like a kleenex, and rub across your hand and then switch and do the other hand. I personally use latex gloves when applying ALL self-tanners so I don't have to worry about my hands.

I wear rubber gloves when applying it. Then I remove the gloves halfway (off my knuckles) and rub it on my hands. I do not wash my hands afterwards. Also, tan towel has a tan mist. This works best when tanning hands and feet (great for body as well). It goes on evenly and you don't have to wash your hands afterwards, so you don't get a tan line.

I tried keeping the towel handy after using, then washed my hands. I then covered the towel with (2) paper towels and LIGHTLY swabbed the backs of my hands, up to the wrist. Since our palms don't generally tan, I made sure not to use the towel there. Also, go light on the knees and elbows.

You'll need to exfoliate yourself each day, with a scrub or a loofa. Before you apply any self-tanner, you should give yourself a through exfoliation so this doesn't happen, then apply lotion after the self-tanner to keep your skin soft. Hope this helps!

Go with the medium to dark and use it first on your legs then work your way up to the arms. It is buildable so doing it in this order will allow you to know if you want it heavier. In that case you can reverse it. If you use Loreal Sublime Glow after it dries in "Fair", it will tone it down. I am medium-light skin and this is not too dark for me (see my review).

At the beginnig my feet look really bad, brown spots, and uneven color. Now I put some body lotion on the ankles, heel and fingers, and when I use towlette is after I use it on the body, so it is a bit dry. After self tanner dries out on the feet (few seconds) and massage body lotion in the places and remove with kleenes if there is too much of the cream left.
Works every time.

I usually cover all the areas on my body I want tanned FIRST and then do the tops of my feet and ankles LAST right before the towelette dries up. I never do the bottom of my feet because how tan can they get anyway?

If you can, try the on the glow moisturizer On The Glow, it's only available online. It has the tanning product DHA in it, moisturize your feet and ankles and I've seen a nice light tan develop within a few days!

Question
Anyone having trouble with areas wearing away in color such as behind your knees or in front of your elbows?
The problem I'm having is that the color quickly wears away behind my knees, in front of my elbows, & between thighs. It is those areas where my skin touches itself often (fetal position sleeping, sitting with knees bent, bending arms, etc) & I guess that's why they almost turn white. I'm not sure if it's a friction issue or that these areas get warmer, maybe sometimes sweat a tiny bit? I've tried using the towel just in those areas a few times in a row. The areas darken a bit but not enough to blend in with the rest of me. The maker of Tan Towel makes a spray "instant" tan. You spray it onto a used towel & rub it on. Not only did that not darken the areas but it made them bigger! It was as if the spray was removing the previous tan. I've been searching the web trying to find others with similar experiences to hopefully get help with this issue to no avail. It seems like I'm the only one with these freakish results. I may have to try another brand, which stinks because these are so easy to use.

Thanks for your answers. I've tried the instant tan spray from Tan Towel & it made the worn areas lighter & bigger. It basically was removing the tan I had & I can't understand why. I then tried using BE's Faux tan just in the worn areas but the same thing happened. I've also kept used towels & applied them to the worn areas every day. The worn areas got a bit tanner but so did the tan areas. I guess I'll have to try harder to wipe within the borders of the worn areas. It's just so hard because if you wipe out of the borders of the worn areas those areas get darker. So I then had lightly tanned worn areas & dark tan rings around those areas. It's just starting to seem like too much work. I'm starting to think there's nothing you can do if you get worn areas. I guess I'll try one more time & maybe put baby powder or something on those areas to hopefully prevent the worn areas from returning. Ugh!

I have found after you use the towelette, you can still get some "use" out of it. Meaning, put the used, moistened towelette in a zip lock bag and re-use it on the spots that extra coverage on a daily basis. And if you do have the spray on instant tan product, you can actually spray the towelette with the spray and re-wet the towelette with it. I hope this helps! It's worth a shot.

If you have any dark marks or freckles on your face. Beware! The spots become even darker. Yuck. I don't use the product on my face. I have freckles around my nose.

I have really sensitive skin and use them on my face and body, but have yet to break out like I have with creams and other products. They also come in two sizes, so if you're just using them on your face and upper body I'd go with the smaller ones. They're perfect for face and a few areas.

Yes, they are safe to use on your face. It's not drying to the skin. I'm sensitive to fragrances, and this product doesn't bother my skin at all. Just make sure that you exfoliate really well before you use it to get the best results.

I have used these plenty of times and they never made me break out. They are not oily like a lot of the lotion gradual tanners. I usually use a lotion with salicyc before or after it and it doesn't interfere with the color.
