yes it does! i own the perfect smoothing compact case and tried putting it in and actually fits. once you hear the snap sound then you know it's locked to the case. the sheer powder is only like .1 mm smaller than the perfect smoothing one but still fit perfectly inside the case.

At a store (not Sephora), I was initially sold a case with a space that was too large for this refill. I do not know what product went in the first case, but it was not the sheer matifying compact.

I would say O--but honestly, your best bet is to go to a Shiseido counter at Macys or Nordstrom and have them match you.

Shiseido foundations run in 2 shade categories: B, I, and O
B is a bit more beige, matches well for people who have a pink undertone. I is more of a neutral, for people who have a bit of pink but also a bit of gold in their undertonen. O has the most yellow. the numbers, 00, 20, 40, 60, and 80 are the level of the shade. 00 is extremely light and 80 is the deepest, however, i suggest you go to the counter- you can think you're one shade, but it may come out to be completely different. The beauty consultants do a stripe test to make sure you get the color that best works with your skin tone

Undertone:

Red <----------------------------------------------> Yellow

B = Beige _____ I = IvoryO _____O = Ochre

The higher the number, the darker the foundation.
ie., I00 = Very Light Ivory and B60 = Natural Deep Beige.

Question
Looking for primer or moisturizer for use with Sheer Matifying Compact
Two days ago I started using this product and I am not happy with the results after a short while (20 minutes!!). I wonder if this makeup is not compatible with my moisturizer and that is what is causing the makeup to pool in splotches. I had a full Shiseido makeover when I purchased the product and loved the results, especially the look and feel of this makeup (I was on a quest for makeup, so I have no idea the other products that were applied). I am looking for recommendations from other users for a new moisturizer or primer to try, especially products with spf. Thanks!

i don't always use a moisturizer with it because it has a 22 spf and i bought the sun protection foundation with spf 34 if i go to the beach. i did use oil of olay sensitive spf 15 and had no problems like you had. are u letting your moisturizer really soak in before applying makeup?

Yeah, moisturizers can make a huge difference in the wear of makeup. I use Bliss Steep Clean Mattifying Moisturizer, then Smashbox primer (primer really helps with oily skin to make makeup last longer), then the Shiseido powder, then Urban Decay DeSlick spray. Only one touch up around lunchtime and the finish stays amazing. You can even wet the sponge to get a smooth finish.

Make sure the moisturizer completely absorbs into your skin- blot with a cheap tissue (so you dont get those annoying fuzzies on your face). You can also use the laura mercier pre-makeup base if you want to make your foundation last longer. Once again, make sure it absorbs into your skin, otherwise you'll get splotches from any powdery foundation. And if you use a brush to apply this foundation instead of the sponge, you'll get a more flawless finish

You don;t have to, you can keep just refill, but than you have to carry sponge with you in a little bag. Unless you leave make up at home , than it's fine.

Yes, the powder and compact are sold separately. So, when you are buying the powder, its a re-fill and you put it in the compact.

I have yellow undertones and use Light with bare minerals in the winter and medium beige in the summer... I ordered the I40 and it's slightly darker but looks great on my skin. Some foundations that match seem to pale me out but this one is awesome. If you are fairer than I, try the I20.

I00 is very porcelain- you may want to try I20 or B20- I20 is more of a natural, B20 is better if you have pink undertones
