Clarisonic Opal® Sonic Skin Infusion System

What it is:A sonic device that enhances the effectiveness of products applied to the eye area and an antiaging eye serum optimized for sonic infusion. What it is formulated to do:The Opal Sonic infuses serums into the skin more effectively than manual application. As the device is moved in small circles around the eye area, its soft applicator tip delivers products with more than 7,500 gentle micro-massages per minute. Serums and creams are absorbed more deeply and evenly, enhancing their ability to promote healthy, hydrated, and younger-looking skin. The included Anti-Aging Sea Serum is optimized for the dynamics of sonic infusion. Its multilayered approach includes marine extracts and botanicals to provide multiple properties including: hydration, firming, smoothing, tightening, and antioxidant protection. If desired, the Opal can be used with your favorite eye product. This set contains:- Opal Sonic Infuser - 0.5 oz Anti-Aging Sea Serum - 2 Replacement Applicator Tips - Universal Voltage Charger What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens- Sulfates- Synthetic Fragrances- Synthetic Dyes- Petrochemicals- Phthalates- GMOs- Triclosan What else you need to know:Developed by the lead inventor of Sonicare® and the Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing system, the Opal integrates into your eye care ritual seamlessly: use for just 30 seconds around each eye. According to Clarisonic, after four weeks a noticeable improvement in skin's elasticity will result. After eight weeks, fine lines and puffiness are visibly reduced and eyes appear brighter. The Opal Sonic Infusion System is dermatologist- and ophthalmologist-tested, rechargeable, and gentle enough for daily use.

No, they only advertise it for crows feet, however it is fine to use for any fine lines on your face. Dr. Oz recommended it recently on one of his shows and they suggested using it anywhere on your face with fine lines.

My Opal broke after 5 uses. It took me a while to take it back to the store. Sephora exchanged for a new one. I did use the serum while I was waiting to find the time to return, and I did like the serum. My concern is that it did break (expensive !!), and I find that if I really rubbed in the serum, the results were about the same (it plumps up your skin, and really rubs it in). Not sure you really need the machine. Perhaps just using your fingers to really work it in is the way to go. Good serum though. One of the best eye creams I have tried, and a decent price at $65 for 1.7 oz

Yes, I had a friend who LOVED it but had to take it back due to finances. But, I know she vows to buy another one the very next time she has extra money. Much less than Botox (and safer) and instant gratification...!

I have never had any problems doing a return to Sephora if I am not happy with the product. I keep my receipt and packaging until I am sure i love the item. If not I am sure that Sephora will give you your money back as they do not want anyone unhappy with their purchase.

Sephora's 30-day return period still applies. Everyone seems to love or hate this product after a treatment or two, so 30 days should be plenty of time to determine whether or not it works for you. Returns are free, of course, so it's a no-risk test period.

mzfrias - there is nothing that precludes one from using a different serum than Clairsonic's own. Right in the body of the text for the main product description on this site it says, "The included Anti-Aging Sea Serum is optimized for the dynamics of sonic infusion. Its multilayered approach includes marine extracts and botanicals to provide multiple properties including: hydration, firming, smoothing, tightening, and antioxidant protection. If desired, the Opal can be used with your favorite eye product. ."
So they very explicitly state that you CAN use your preferred serum if desired.

Of course you CAN use it alone, but it's more effective when used with an eye cream, just like any other serum. Serums work on a molecular level and reach further than creams.

I'm not a professional, but I do own this product and do not use any other eye creams in conjunction with the serum. The serum works fine on its own and I don't think a secondary cream is necessary. You can apply a secondary cream after using the serum, but do not use anything but the serum on the Opal Sonic.

You can use it with just the serum, or you can use it with your favorite eye cream or serum. I like to use the serum first with the Opal, then pat a little eye cream on top.

answer 5
I'm not a dermatologist, but I would think that you can use another eye serum (not cream) as long as the molecules are small enough to penetrate as deeply as the opal sonic is attempting. It seems that a cream would be too viscous, and would just sit on the surface. Hope this helps!

They do not mention this much, but when I received a survey from Clarisonic about my Opal, they asked plenty of questions about other eye serums I used with the Opal and did I get better results with other brands, this was surprising. All the information I received with purchase, leaned towards only using their eye serum. Guess what?? Feel free to use whatever you want, you may get better results with your favorite!!

The costs of the refills is the ONLY complaint I have about this product. Read my review (dempster825) for an explanation of the costs of the refills. I hope if enough people voice this concern, Clarisonic will change the refills. It's a new product & I hope they listen to the users about this issue because the Opal really does work!

I too am allergic to shellfish so I did a patch test on my arm for 5 days and waited. No reaction so onto my eyes it went and I have not had any reaction ( aside from positive results) to the serum yet. Anytime that you question ingrediants and a reaction do a patch test on your arm for a few days. Better to have a breakout on your arm then on your face :)

Question
Is there a Opal/Sonic product for whole face?
This is an awful lot to spend for just under eye care. I got a sonic-type facial at a spa once and it felt SO good, and I saw results immediately. (Unfortunately, they don't sell the device.) I'd buy this if it could help my whole face. Is the Dr. developing that? Can you use it for the entire face? (probably wouldn't be aggressive enough though.) I'm NOT talking about the Clairisonic cleansing tools you have here at Sephora, just this one.

You can use the product as-is on the whole face, wherever you want (just not the eyelids and just-under-eye area). Just be aware that your serum will run out a lot faster, since you'll be using it in other places.

Look at it this way......what do you spend on eye cream each time?? If its 45 -60....then its paid for with (4) visits to the cosmetic counter. And the Opal helps the serum penetrate better than the tip of your finger!

This is only for the eye-area. It provides instant gratification, and long-term results with consistant use. If a person went to a spa, it would be much more expensive per application, and this way, you would own the device.

answer 6
No....Not specifically. However, this does work on fine lines around your lips as well. :)

Also, I find that if you dab the serum around your eyes first before turning on the Opal it helps glide and apply the serum more easily. Otherwise you spend the first 10 seconds getting the applicator to glide easily. Just put one drop in the applicator and dab it onto the eye where you will be gliding the applicator. Then turn it on and massage it gently in.

I also like to give myself a little longer massage. Once the Opal shuts off, I turn it back on and massage until I know that the serum is massaged in completely. Maybe another 20 seconds. :)

It's expensive at first but very much worth it if you have dark, puffy eyes like I do!

I do not know exactly where your problem areas are but the Opal should only be used on the orbital bone, not the soft area of the eye. I am sooo lucky, all my dark and wrinkled areas are on the bone area!! Just be careful where you use it.

The Canadian Willowherb and Marine Peptide Acetyl Citrull Amino Arginine in this product will help to fight the inflammation that causes dark circles and puffiness, and the Marine-derived Glycosaminoglycans and Kigellia Africana Extracts and Natural Moisturizing Factors and Trehalose (from desert plants) help with firming and wrinkles.

Though this item is used on the eye orbital bone and not in your exact area of concern, the natural circular motion of the eye will move the product closer to the area of concern without causing irritation.

Below are the directions for this item from our site:

-Prior to the first use, charge the Opal for 24 hours.
-For best results, use the Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing System to remove dirt and oil, prepping the skin for Sonic Infusion.
-Upon first use of the Opal, you may need to push the dispensing button multiple times to start the dispenser.
-Remove the dispenser cap (containing the serum) from the Sonic Infuser (magnetic attach and detach).
-Place the nozzle (located on the inside surface of the cap) slightly above the applicator tip.
-With firm pressure, slowly press the dispensing button to dispense serum onto the applicator tip.
-Fill the applicator tip to about the level shown (about the size of a small pea).
-Adjust the volume as necessary.
-Place the applicator tip flat to the skin around the eye area, especially where there is an appearance of crows' feet.
-To activate Opal, press and release the power button located on the side of the Sonic Infuser.
-Follow the rim of the bone outlining the eye area to apply the serum using light pressure and small, overlapping, circular strokes.
-Opal will turn off after 30 seconds.
-Repeat steps 2 through 6 to treat the other eye area.
-After use, gently blot the applicator tip with a cotton swab or tissue and replace the dispenser cap for storage.
-If desired, it is safe to moisten a tissue or swab with alcohol and gently blot the soft applicator tip.
- Do not immerse the Opal or the applicator tip, or place under running water.
-If your eyes are sensitive to skin care products, if you think you may have a skin condition, or if you are under a doctor's care for a skin condition, please consult your physician before using the Clarisonic Opal.
-Do not share applicator tips if you and/or any other Clarisonic user suffer from any skin conditions.
-Opal Sonic Infusion and the Opal Anti-Aging Sea Serum are optimized to work in perfect synergy for optimal results.
-Do not use Opal with other skincare products, especially products containing mechanical exfoliants such as microbeads and shells.
-PBL (Clarisonic) is not responsible for any adverse results from using the Opal with any product other than the included Anti-Aging Sea Serum.
