Questions & Answers for bareMinerals Firming Eye Treatment

Question
Safe to use on eyelids?
I'm in my mid to late 20's. I do not like the idea of eye creams - worried about ingredients and long term effects, but I am developing "wrinkly" eyelids. My mom has them a lot worse, so I am trying to slow the process down. Has anybody used this on eyelids? Does it work for that? Is it safe? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I previously worked in a Bare Escentuals boutique and they best way to apply this is to dab small even amounts on both fingers ON the bone below the eye, moving up to the outside of your eye to your brow creating a C shape. If you get any closer to your eyelids, the long-term effects of doing this will create the little bumps on your skin. I saw this a lot in many of my older clients who were under the assumption that it was safe to place eye cream all the way up there. This is not necessary or preferred actually. The oils in your skin will move naturally and absorb the product over time once applied without adding more cream in that eyelid area.

I purchased this product mainly for use on my eyelids, hoping it would tighten and tone, but after several months of use, I have seen no difference whatsoever. It makes a good general moisturizer, but for firming the skin on eyelids, I wouldn't recommend it.

You might not need an eye cream yet. I used serums that reduce puffiness until I also developed wrinkles as I got older. My best advice is to use lots of oil-free sunscreen when you're young. Sun damage starts in your teen years. I'm living proof of that.

Ok I'm not old enough to have lines wrinkles and saggy skin yet but I use eye cream because my aunt did when she was young and now she has perfect skin in her 60s. I haven't started using the crazy strong doctor Rx ones because I'm afraid theyll do more damage than good. I use moisturizing eye creams that keep my eye area healthy. I don't see any harm in it! Maybe one with SPF will be good to prevent damage!

answer 7
You know what. It depends on how old you are. I would say that if you are 18 or under seek out an eye cream that is specifically for your dark eye circles and make sure you wear sunglasses and sunscreen to prevent wrinkling from sun damage. However, wrinkling starts at different times for different people. I started noticing faint wrinkling in my forehead and around my eyes (called expression lines) when I was 25. Just make sure that you are using the product for a specific purpose. Don't waste your money on a product that you are using for a purpose you don't need it for.

Someone once told me that if you want to look young when you get older, then start a skin care regimen while you are young!! I have taken that advice to heart and am currently 27 with no wrinkles yet! I also love that BE's eye cream is moisturizing and helps dark circles appear lighter. Also, powder does not cake on it after letting the cream soak in for a minute.

During the summer when I knew that I was going to be spending a lot of time in the heat, I didn't use this product during the day. Except for those days, though, I've used it every day under my mineral makeup. It absorbs quickly and without any greasy afterfeel, so any powder I apply on top of it does not streak. I do wait a few minutes after I apply the cream to make sure the skin is dry.

For me, this prodct was so drying to the skin under my eyes that applying my cream concealer (Benefit Erase Paste) was nearly impossible. I too, wear mostly B.E. products (not the concealer but the foundation, either Warmth or Faux Tan & finish with Mineral Vail) and after a week of using both the face moisturizer & eye cream, my skin was super dehydrated and my makeup started caking, mostly under and around my eyes. Both the eye cream & face moisturizer contain Retinyl Palmitate(a form of Vitamin A) so the anti aging benefits are definitely there, making this line potentially amazing. But the dryness that this ingredient causes has to be compensated for somewhere...

I haven't tried the Benefit product you're asking about, but I purchased the Rare Minerals eye cream it on August 25. Been using it 2X a day- morning & night - since then so I can share my experience with it so far...
Within seconds of applying it, the skin under my eyes felt refreshed and there was definitely some pretty impressive de-puffing within minutes...! ;) I really don't have any major lines under my eyes to begin with but I've noticed the texture of the skin appears smoother. (However, this may be the work of Philosophy"s Eye Believe, which I got a sample of and used religiously for 3 weeks prior to purchasing the Rare Minerals.)
My philosophy on eye cream & dark circles is that of my dermatologist's - eye creams don't do much,-if even anything at all- for dark circles, so of course no change there. (Check out the results of the consumer study above and find the 2 lowest percentages, 69% and 66%. Surprise Suprise!)
Even in light of the amazing de-puffing factor & the skin soothing & smoothing factors this product isn't moisturizing enough for me AT ALL. I had a hart time applying my under eye primer & my concealer. ALso the makeup under & around my eyes got so cakey and crackley...it was awful!
If you're looking for moisture you may want to try the Benefit or buy at Sephora so you can return!

Don't let the word oil scare you. I have oily skin and this does not add to my oilyness. Mineral oil is an ingredient that is in a lot of "moisturizing" products but has large molecules that cannot penetrate the skin. This product is free of mineral oil. Oil is great for your skin as long as it is a natural oil (think olive or canola oil).
