because most shades are fairly nude, you can practically wear almost any color! i use moody for a red and enchanted for a peach/brown.

Depends on the look you're going for. I'm black, medium complexion with yellow undertones. I have the Enchanted and love it. It looks like a "natural" berry shade on me. It also depends on how pigmented your lips are, but I would say that if you want red red, go with Lust. Moody looked more like brownish rose to me when I looked at it in the store.

Enchanted is great. I have fair skin and brown hair as well, and as I'm sure you have experienced before, some lip colors make you look like a clown, but this one is perfect. It isn't too dark and brightens your whole face. It is worth a shot if you want to try a stain.

I'm a very fair-skinned brunette too, and I've tried al the colors of this lipstain. "Joy"--the peach color, looks bad with fair skin and so does "Moody"--the deep berry color. "Amused" is much too bright a pink for fair-skinned people--it made me look like a clown!
Depending on the occasion, I would choose either "Charmed"--a light pink that very well compliments fair skin tones, "Lust"--a classic red that's ideal for special occasions, or "Enchanted"--a rose color that gives you a more natural, earthy look. I hope this helps you!

I don't have the product right next to me, but the one I bought is the glossy one and the color of the "pen" is orange: when you put it on it's a natural pink-peachy color, really nice!

A nice brownish pink would suit you well, without looking too harsh or dark. One of the Tarte lipstains (I forget the name!) looks like a plummy color, but when you put it on your skin it appears as a nice rosewood color -- not too dark. Try it. THe Tarte lipstains are REALLY good.

Break?
Did anyone else's break? The tip of mine broke in the first use, and I barley put any pressure on it. I also got one in the matte and that one broke an inch down inside the tube after 1 week of use. Is this normal?

I have 2 of these lip tints, I have never had a problem until low and behold I am using it for my sisters wedding makeup and it broke all the way at the bottom and landed on the floor. It was gross and had pieces of dog hair in it but I had to still use it because I had no time to make it to Sephora to exchange.

answer 2
If you look on the tarte website there is a lot of people who have had that problem. I would try exchanging it through sephora or calling tarte's customer service. I think the "pencil tip" is a little awkward for the lips. It would be better just to have a round tip from the get go and not stick out so much at first. Im always afraid Im going to knock it off accidentally!

I never had a problem with mine breaking, but my sister decided to try to pull the twist up thing on the bottom, thinking it was a double sided pencil. The whole thing came out, but I was able to just put it right back in and it still works fine. Maybe you should try exchanging it for a new one?

i have not tried it, but i would guess this product would work well for that purpose. though the tarte cheek things are water-based and this has other "moisturizing" ingredients in it, so i can't guarantee you wouldn't break out. but my guess is that you would be fine.

yes! this looks beautiful on cheeks! but it probably won't last all day and i wouldn't apply it over a powder finish. i would only try it natural (without makeup under) or with a thin coat of liquid/cream foundation as a base.

I only use lip productsa on my cheeks when I really really need to =- otherwise, my feeling is why intermingle germs? Lips/our saliva/mouths hold a lot of germs, so personally I would NOT recommned EVERY doing this, with ANY lip stain, even if they have the word "cheek" on the label for dual-purpose...My dermatologish agrees.

Does this twist up or do you sharpen it?

You just twist it up for more product (like a normal lipstick or stick lip balm), no sharpening required! The very tip will get flat after use, but the diameter of the balm part is small enough that you don't have to keep it in a point for precise application.

Question
Okay to carry in purse/backpack?
Is this like a lip pencil, without a cap to protect it? Or is it fine for carrying in a purse without worrying about it getting messy for re-applications (although there may be no need for re-applications since it is a stain)? Thanks!

This does have a cap to protect it, I carry mine in my purse all the time. It looks like a pencil but it doesn't need to be sharpened, you just twist the bottom and more comes up, like a chap stick. It is a stain, but I find myself reapplying once in a while. Hope this answers your question!

It depends on your eye make-up. If you wear very little on your eye, i would go with a bold dark red lip. If you are heavy on the eye make-up, go with a colour close to your natural lip shade.

Don't use it - it stains the inside part of your lips where they close together, and the outside part doesn't stain. Looks like you had too much koolaid and wiped just the outer part of your lips. I was very disappointed. I tried it several times with the same results.
