I saw someone else had asked this question, but no one had answered. Does the primer need to dry before applying mascara??

I find if I let my primer dry my mascara tends to clump and by about 3 p.m. Lasses tend to appear gray or have spots of white. If I apply mascara immediately after primer I don't have these problems at all, or much later in the day say 9 or 10 p.m. Different strokes for different folks though

I was told to apply while it is still "wet" by a Sephora store consultant. I am glad she did. It can make my mascara clumpy if I don't, works perfectly as a primer if it is still damp.

Yes, let the primer dry first before applying mascara. I tried it both ways and the primer has a better effect if it is dry.

I never went out of my way to let it dry-maybe I should have. There was a few times that I let it dry a little- but it didn't seem to make a difference

This product, in my experience, makes your mascara easier to remove. You wont look like a raccoon when you get out of the shower unless you were really rubbing, and no more pulling out lashes either.

I use nutrogena (spelling?) makeup remover wipes and I've had no problem removing any of my makeup with them.

Assuming you are also applying a darker mascara over it yes, it holds stronger than a mascara would alone. If you use a make up remover or just spend an extra couple seconds on your eye area when washing then you should be just fine. It is not as strong as a waterproof mascara.

The mascara isn't hard to remove. The primer isn't because it doesn't even go on your lashes, the tube may as well be empty.

The primer is quite difficult to remove. Little bits of primer were left all over my lashes and the extra effort required to remove the primer caused a few lashes to fall out.

It would look very odd, because it doesn't dry completely clear. It would look as thought you put glue on your lashes.

It is white and does not dry clear...so if you want white lashes then go for it. I do not use it alone. It is intended to go under mascara.

I wouldn't wear by itself. It does have a whitish appearance...not clear. Works better than any other primer I've ever tried.

I wouldnt use this alone unless you want white eyelashes! It blends well once you put the step 3 mascara over it... I hightly recommend both together...

Does it hold a curl?
If I curl my lashes before applying the primer, will they begin to droop before I can apply my mascara? Or will this primer hold a curl pretty well?
(I prefer to use my curler on bare lashes so my curler doesn't get all sticky!)

It entirely depends on how you use this. I have short straight lashes, but this product managed to hold my curl as well as anything else. That's because I apply it sparingly, and only at the tips. If you gloop this on all over your lashes, you'll definitely lose the curl.

I curl my lashes first, then use this primer, then immediately use mascara. Some primers are so wet they straighten your lashes before you get to the mascara, but this doesn't. Good stuff. At night take off all makeup and cleanse face and use good moisturizer. No makeup on face at night. This is not a eyelash serum for growing eyelashes.

I always use my eyelash curler first and I don't feel this primer weighs them down at all. Cause not that much product comes out on this brush.

I curl mine before I use it and it stays pretty well after application. Sometimes, I'll recurl if I'm going out later and want to apply another top mascara coat.

I have tried many techniques and the one that works the best is:
Apply Primer to right eye, then left eye.
Wait 30 seconds then apply mascara in the same order.
If it is too wet the mascara lightens and the primer comes off onto the mascara brush. If it is too dry it doesn't go on as smoothly. Hate to say it, but somewhere in between wet and dry is best in my opinion.

I personally have to apply mascara before the primer dries. Otherwise, it becomes flaky and crusty. Others might have a different experience.

I don't know what they recommend, but I have had good results applying mascara on either wet or dry primer. I've used other combos where the primer had to be wet, but this one seems to work well either way. It's a very soft formula, while still giving a dramatic look.

It definitely does. I bought it thinking I would use it at night to condition my
Lashes but that's not what it's for it's a true primer. It is white when it dries you see slight whiteness on your lashes but applying mascara obviously covers it up. It does not make my mascara clump nor flake at all. So I'm pretty sure you're going to love it since your concern is flaking. Hope I helped!

this is definately not a serum, its a primer but its so lightweight. it doesnt weigh your lashes down at all and i use it tarina tarantino mascara and my lashes look really good

It's basically a white mascara, hon. You swipe it on your lashes just like a mascara, then put your normal mascara over it. It definitely helps, not only with volume and length of lashes, but keeps your mascara on all day.

You should be fine. I don't use and haven't tried Tarte's mascara personally but I used Loreal Paris' Volumizing Waterproof mascara and it works great with that. I'm sure the Tarte mascara works better with it seeing as they are the same line, but my everyday look and what I'm expecting (which isn't much :D) any over the counter drugstore mascara should work fine with it too. I feel like my lashes look great, definitely more defined and lengthened :D

Yes. I use this Primer with Maybeline Lash Stilleto Mascara and the combination is great! I cannot afford to spend much on beauty products so I only purchase the Primer because it works with any mascara.

I don't think the primer is meant to permanently lengthen, I think it's just meant to be applied under mascara, sort of like a lash bra.

No. Step 2 Primer is applied just prior to applying your mascara. Only Step 1 should be applied prior to bed.

i use it with tarina tarantino mascara and its great, my lashes look long and thick but not spidery at all!! tarina tarantino has great mascara my lashes are not thick and this primer and mascara combo is great for them!

I haven't used tarte mascara, but with a handful of free samples, I've tried just about everything else. It works just fine. I have found if you do one eye at a time, and apply mascara when primer is still wet little bits of white won't start peeking out near days end.

Lancôme is good. Tarte is INCREDIBLE! :) That's just my opinion, man. Tried two other brands as well and Tarte makes them look like, well for lack of a simile that makes sense, it's just better.

I have used the Lancome primer for years. I like the Tarte primer a bit more. It makes my mascara go on very smoothly, lifts, and curls my lashes. It clumps my lashes a little bit, but so did the Lancome primer. I like the nourishing qualities of the Tarte primer, also.

Lancome's primer has fibres in it, that add to the length of your lashes (temporarily). This one actually nourishes and encourages growth.
