It always depends on your sensitivities. this product is gentle and has a time released treatment with moisture. so it treats and hydrates. It does have retinol and salicylic in it. I would go try a sample from the store and ask a Skincare Expert if it's right for you.

This product is excellent for sensitive, oily and acne prone skin. It cleans thoroughly yet gently so it does not overstrip or irritate which often causes overproduction of oil and acne flare-ups. I would highly recommend this product.

I just turned 26 and was recommended this product by a Sephora Rep. The Clarifying Cleanser by Murad contains 2% Salicylic Acid, and I was worried this would dry out my skin when using the Oil Control Mattifier which is already a little drying. This has .5% Salicylic acid, and is time release so is still strong enough to keep my breakouts at bay, but will be more gentle on my skin in the long term and can help keep it moisturized after applying all the drying acne fighting treatments! Plus- it's never too early to fight wrinkles!

You can start using anti-aging between 18 and 21 years. Your skin stops producing collagen between those years, so you'll just be getting a head start on aging. They tend to be more gentle than non-anti-aging products, too.

This product should not be too harsh for your skin. My skin is sensitive and I have used it now since January and had no adverse reactions. Try it. Sephora has an excellent return policy, but I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This is not harsh at all. I wouldn't worry about the anit-aging part. It is very mild and creamy. I have sensitive skin and this didn't cause any drying or peeling, but my pores are smaller and clearer. Go for it.

Question
Benzoyl Peroxide vs Salicylic Acid...
I've been using Proactive for years and it works great. I've been researching benzoyl peroxide and it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun and I don't want that. Has anyone had success with this product that used to use benzoyl peroxide. If so, how long before you saw results? Thank you

I use to use BP, also, but it always dried my skin out, and like you said, makes you more sensitive to the sun. I started using the Murad line and the results were darn near instant. It is so much more gentle, which helps with acne in the first place by making your skin healthier overall. Give it a try, I doubt you'll be disappointed :)

BP has always been really harsh on my skin, and even with sunscreen has reacted to sunlight in not so cute ways. SA seems to work much more effectively for me without any harsh drying, it seems more exfoliating than anything. I think you'll be happy with the results, but you may want a product with a higher SA content than this (which is .5%)

I am also a proactiv user and have also worried about the damage benzoyl peroxide may be doing to my skin. However, anytime I switch to a product that uses sacilyic acid instead of benzoyl peroxide, my face always breaks out within a week and then the acne just gets worse and worse. For some people, benzoyl peroxide is the only answer.

I used proactive for probably 2 years with good results but all of a sudden it just wasnt working anymore for me( they changed something in it maybe?). This Murad product gave me even better results than proactive did without all the harsh products proactive uses. Much less drying, better results. Noticed a difference after about 3-4 days but probably took 4 weeks to see complete results.

I don't find that it's very drying during the summer, but in the winter it gets more dry, thats probably just because its winter but I also use a different face cream (like olay) other than the Murad moisturizer cream, I think that it works well together.

I have super dry skin and it doesn't dry my skin like most acne products. I've had trouble finding acne cleansers that work since I have the rare combo of dry skin + acne but this works well. Cleans my skin and it is not drying.

I don't think this cleanser foams/suds up hardly at all. I've never tried it on my body, though. I just use a tiny amount for my face. It feels very creamy on the skin rather than foamy.

Usually there is a bit of toner mixed in-not that you can tell that by washing your face, but you can purchase a separate bottle of toner that will do all the toner things you want.

I've found I don't need a toner with this, but I've also used it with one, followed by a moisturizer and a few other products. I'd say try it without first, so you don't risk irritating your skin.

Where's the salicylic acid?
In reading the ingredients list, I didn't see salicylic acid listed as one of the key ingredients, even though the package says .5% salicylic acid.

The salicylic acid in the product comes from the Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, also known as salicin. Human cells can produce their own salicylic acid from salicin - giving the body the "ingredients" to make its own acne antidote helps to ensure that the product stays effective, since the active form of salicylic acid in a product can degrade over time or with exposure to air, bacteria, etc.

Question
waxing or depilatory cream
I used proactiv and dermatologic creams, which really helped with the acne. But if i used wax or depilatory creams on my face with those products, it would irritate my skin, leaving it red and damaged for over a week... Any of you know if this problem will occur with this product? Thank you.

This product has never made my face red AT ALL. The directions tell you to use a small amount and they mean it, I use about a dime size amount for my entire face and it works awesomely. It's even cleared up pimples I've felt coming in before they ever come to a head on my skin and like I said, I never have any trouble with it making my face dry or red.

Hi!
I have not used wax or depilitory with this product, but I do use bleach to lighten my facial hair and I use both this cleanser and the acne and wrinkle reducer. I have very fair skin and am prone to react negatively to chemicals, detergents, etc. I have not had any problems with bleaching since using these products and I believe my skin is much healthier as a result of using this line. I would highly recommend you give this product a try.
I hope this was helpful.
