I don't find that it's very drying during the summer, but in the winter it gets more dry, thats probably just because its winter but I also use a different face cream (like olay) other than the Murad moisturizer cream, I think that it works well together.

I have super dry skin and it doesn't dry my skin like most acne products. I've had trouble finding acne cleansers that work since I have the rare combo of dry skin + acne but this works well. Cleans my skin and it is not drying.

It always depends on your sensitivities. this product is gentle and has a time released treatment with moisture. so it treats and hydrates. It does have retinol and salicylic in it. I would go try a sample from the store and ask a Skincare Expert if it's right for you.

This product is excellent for sensitive, oily and acne prone skin. It cleans thoroughly yet gently so it does not overstrip or irritate which often causes overproduction of oil and acne flare-ups. I would highly recommend this product.

When I first purchased this product I (30yrs.old Norm/dry skin) bought the Murad starter kit, 1 week in i was only using the face wash and moisturizer. I still stand by both and that is after running out of the moisturizer and having to use Sephora brand until my delivery came - start w/ the face wash with the moisturizer you like if in 3-5 days you don't see a difference you its time to get the Murad

I have tried both but prefer the time-release product. Clarifying cleanser is too harsh for my skin and although works wonders, is annoying that I have to worry about dry patches and I have combination oily skin. I love the time-release product because it is refreshing, hydrating, and still helps with my mild acne. If you are only going to use a cleanser and no topical acne solution, clarifying cleanser should be okay, but the time-release works better if you plan to use a topical acne solution on top of it . Hope this helps!

I actually use both but i think it depends on what kind of acne you have. I usually have a mix of hormonal and just general. clarifying cleanser helped my face overall but did nothing for my huge problem areas around me chin and tended to make my face very dry. However i recently purchased the time - release and i havent had any hormonal breakouts since and it leaves my face not so dry but not oily either... but it doesn't really combat small white heads... so as of now I'm using both

The Time-Release Cleanser is so much less drying. I bought it as my first Murad Cleanser and loved how held my skin's moisture while reducing my breakouts (I have combination skin prone to acne and redness). After I ran out, I mistakenly bought the Clarifying Cleanser and thought I could every day as well, but after about 2 days of using the cleanser patches of dry skin appeared around my lips and nose, and even on my t-zone, though it's oil-zapping effects didn't last all day and only served to make my foundation coverage uneven. I tried using it 3 times a week and it didn't seem to matter either, strongly recommend the Time-Release.

I've been using this cleanser for 4-5 months and haven't noticed any changes in my complexion--I'm about to turn 30 and my adult acne has come back with vengeance. My skin is also oily & sensitive. Now that's it's winter, I find it really dries out my skin. I don't necessarily recommend this product :(

Yup, it made my forehead and bit of my cheek bumpy with little acne, not too much of it. After a week or 2 it was totally fine and effective after my skin got used to the product. This usually happens to me when I use new products because I have sensitive skin. Love this product, on my third bottle!

Mine did not, I was already in the middle of a breakout after stopping use of Murad for 6 weeks ( thinking after months I could use knockoffs since it worked so well ) .. I'm 32, Norm/ dry skin type and in the winter months did worry about that as well..Within 3-4 days everything dried up, I did also purchase the moisturizer though.

I didn't experience anything like that thankfully! I have with other products. I did notice a bit more dryness/tightness than usual and find that if I'm going to use it 2x daily I need to follow up at night with a heavy moisturizer.

I haven't purged at all since I started using it. Actually it's done the opposite. It began to clear up my existing acne and prevented new breakouts. I think this cleanser is too gentle to break you out before it starts working. Probably best for sensitive skin with mild to moderate acne. You will probably need the stronger foaming cleanser if you have severe acne. That one will purge you before it clears you up.

This is an excellent product. I'm 22 and I use it. Its very hydrating It literally makes your skin look beautiful and supple! and most importantly it clears up your face. It's definitely targeted more towards adult acne but I'm sure this would help a teenager to.

Yes, it's intended for clients who maybe a few other concerns aside from just acne like fine lines or maybe even loss of radiance. Unlike their other formula, it's going to have much more moisture, essential for more mature skin. It's basically a two-for-one, you get the benefits of an anti-aging cleanser with the blemish fighting power of an acne cleanser.

I just turned 26 and was recommended this product by a Sephora Rep. The Clarifying Cleanser by Murad contains 2% Salicylic Acid, and I was worried this would dry out my skin when using the Oil Control Mattifier which is already a little drying. This has .5% Salicylic acid, and is time release so is still strong enough to keep my breakouts at bay, but will be more gentle on my skin in the long term and can help keep it moisturized after applying all the drying acne fighting treatments! Plus- it's never too early to fight wrinkles!

You can start using anti-aging between 18 and 21 years. Your skin stops producing collagen between those years, so you'll just be getting a head start on aging. They tend to be more gentle than non-anti-aging products, too.
