Questions & Answers for Philosophy Miracle Worker™ Miraculous Anti-aging Retinoid Pads and Solution

Question
I purchased these pads yesterday and I am excited to use them, however the box does not tell you how many times to use the pad over your face.
Do I swipe the pad over my face more than once or only one time?

Never reuse a pad - that said, you can 1) cut them in half, 2) leave the solution in the bottle, dab it on the pads individually and after you run out of Philosophy pads (which you will, while still having a good portion of solution remaining) buy pads w/ similar texture, or 3) make your solution last for months and months by applying directly w/ your fingers... granted, you don't get the exfoliation you get w/ the pads (and it is less sterile, though washing your fingers well beforehand should keep things bacteria-free), but you also don't waste loads of solution by over saturation of pads. I've been buying the starter kit over and over again and found out the first time that pouring the whole bottle at once over the pads really wasted a lot of this precious product. I use the finger method and am very pleased w/ the results.

Another suggestion - Philosophy's Help Me, which I find to be stronger, allows for way more control of amount and distribution.

Why is it necessary to pour the bottle over the pads as opposed to just pouring on each individual pad each night?

I think using a little of the liquid each night would result in uneven distribution. The liquid does tend to pool around the bottom of the jar, so I simply tip over the closed jar for a few second to redistribute the liquid through the pads. It works well.

answer 2
Well...if you just pour the liquid on each individual pad every time you use it instead of pouring the entire bottle over the pads in the jar....you might not have enough to go on all the pads by the time you get almost to the end of the pads in the jar...then you would have a lot of extra pads left over...but I tend to agree with you on putting the liquid on each pad as you use it though...it seems it would keep the "liquid" fresher!! I guess what ever works for you is what is the best!!!:)

That way you will saturate all the pads..What I did was pour half of the bottle on the pads, then I switch them so the other half on the bottom is now on the top, and I pour the rest of the solution. that way I feel like they get the same amount of saturation..Hope this helps.

I was told to take out half of the pads form the jar, fill it with half of the product from the brown bottle then put the remaining pads back inside the jar and add the rest of the product from the brown bottle. That way every pad gets the product in it.

Pour the whole bottle in and routinely turn the container of pads over to ensure the product is evenly distributed. I then added some water to the "empty" bottle and use the residue on my arms and hands. It's too expensive to use a fresh pad on my arms, but I love how the product is erasing the sun damage on my face. I'm seeing the same benefit on my arms and hands!

O.O.P (order of operations) is this: Pour bottle over pads and recap pads. Evening process is #1 Wash face and dry. #2 wipe one pad all over face (avoiding eyes) and I even continue it on my hands and décolleté. #3 Spread the serum thinly on face (avoiding eyes). #4 apply moisturizer. #5 REMEMBER to use sunscreen every morning rain or shine! I have had great success with these products. Good Luck!

You use the pads every night after cleansing your face. At first you may need to use every other night to give your skin a chance to adjust to the retinoid. Then you use the solution and finally the moisturizer. serum and moisturizer only in morning. If you have sensitive skin, as I do, you might want to use the serum only at night and moisturizer only in morning. I love it!

I was also surprised to find that there were no directions for using this product. It took me awhile to figure out you had to pour the solution over the pads. I used it morning and night after cleansing my face. I would wait about five minutes, then apply the Miracle Worker anti-aging moisturizer. I got great results.

Does this work on acne marks/scars?
I was just wondering if anyone had any good results with this on post-acne red marks or shallow scarring? It seems like it would work if it gets rid of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, but I didn't come across a review that said anything about acne marks.

It has lightened them for me, although it did also cause a minor breakout in the beginning (however that is a very common reaction to retinoids). My skin looked great the first week, broke out the second, and cleared again by the fourth. If you can tolerate that then it's well worth using because my skin is looking fantastic now.

I have almost completed this regimen and have noticed great improvements in my acne scars and redness. My right cheek had the worst of it and is almost gone. I suffered from moderate (but what felt like severe) acne for about 2 years and this product has almost completely diminished all signs of it. I used this at night with the micro delivery scrub and in the morning i used purity made simple, with hope in a jar and a prescribed acne treatment called benzaclin. The philosophy rep at Sephora recommended I help maintain results from this program with help me.

I asked the Skincare specialist at Sephora a few days ago. I am currently on prescription Retin-A and my skin has improved nicely. But I can't tolerate the peeling and after affects. I have shallow scars here and there and some redness/uneven skintone. I asked if this would help like the Retin-A has helped me and she said YES, but at a slower pace than prescription retinol. (obviously). Hope that helps!

I sometimes get reddened or bluish marks where I've had a blemish (and it's not always from a bad one, which seems unfair). I unfortunately have five such marks which have been there for about 6 weeks now. Two are almost gone and I am seeing good lightening of the others from Miracle Worker. I had been using other products to no avail, so I have high hopes for this one. I've had a number of good benefits from Miracle Worker and this is one that I really appreciate.

The pads are just pads but they do have a smooth side and an little rougher side to exfoliate. You pour the entire bottle of liquid which contains the retinol over the pads the first time you open the pads. I also alternate putting the jar upside down and right side up but make sure the cap is on tight.

Hello and thanks for the answer... I've had the set for over a month now and have an abundance left. As a compulsively frugal person, I decided to cut the pads in thirds (using both sides) and then dab them with the solution each time I use them, leaving the solution in the bottle until my next use. I've really stretched out the solution this way and have seen great results. I agree that reusing a pad is a no-no as - even after exfoliating and washing my face - the pads pick up dirt that washing can't completely clean away. By the way, I also got a sample of the Miracle Worker Anti-Aging eye cream - OH MY GOD! It's a winner. I also only use the M.W. products at bedtime and use the Murad Sun Undone kit for day (minus the spot removing gel, which I use every few days and works like a DREAM). Thanks again for the response!!!!

The pads are just pads. You pour the solution over the pads and use each pad once. Use it simular to a cleansing pad. Wash your face as normal then use the pads before your moisturizing routine. I wouldn't recommend using the pads more than once as they do tend to remove extra dirt and impurites that the cleanser misses so reusing it would be kinda ewwww.

As far as the breakout part, they're not lying in the description about the "unclogs pores" part, I broke out around the second week and it continued for around 10 days. But once that was over with I noticed that the dark marks from some older breakouts were gone as well as a lot of sun damage, I can't remember my skin ever looking as even toned as it does now. I would warn against using the MW moisturizer with the pads though if you already have oily skin. I have quite dry skin and find that it's a bit too much for me.

I use both PTR Unwrinkle Pads (in the morning) and Philosophy Miracle Worker Pads (at night). They are different in that the PTR pads are a mild glycolic acid solution, which I use mostly for mild surface exfoliation and help with occasional breakouts. The Miracle Worker pads have retinol as the exfoliant, but it has a different exfoliating mechanism, plus they do more (in my opinion) for signs of aging like dark spots and wrinkles. My skin is normal-to-sensitive and this combo works fine w/o irritation, but some mornings if I am feeling dry then I just skip the UnWrinkle pads...
I'm 40 with good skin condition, still combo skin with some oiliness in T-zone. I have used Miracle Worker since it came out (maybe a couple of years??), but stopped use a couple of times bc I wasn't sure of the benefit...I've always returned bc the Miracle Worker pads do make my skin smoother, more even toned and glow-y. Miracle Worker pads are a must-have for me, whereas the PTR Unwrinkle pads are a nice-to-have but-not-necessary for me : )

This is so much better! I used PTR and basically it is delicate exfoliator. With retinol pads you see all marks and spots disappear. Retidoids are stronger and you will see better results faster. I used glycolic and lactic acid (55%) for months, and with Philosophy retinol pds already see better results after 2 weeks!

How does this work with Rosacea?
1. I have Rosacea on my nose and a little on my cheeks, as well as acne scars, AND dull complexion everywhere else. I am 28. My skin still breaks out; it is oily and Rosacea prone in some areas, and I am seeing some wrinkles in others. I was a lifeguard long ago and didn't take care of my skin, shame on me. Anyone with mild Rosacea use this?

2. Am I supposed to pour the entire bottle into the tub of pads from the very beginning, or am I supposed to just dab a little bit on each pad each time for each use? Thanks!
