Questions & Answers for Stila Stay All Day&reg Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

Question
Softer type line???
When applying, can you control how much product is coming out, (by either pressing lighter or dab off excess on a tissue), so you can get more of a softer, smudgier, type line? Thanks.

While it's wet, immediately after applying, if you smudge it with a Q-tip or tissue you can get a softer, smokier look.

No, but so far the amount applied is just right. The product is new to me though... wonder if I'll say the same after using it for a month or so.

You can control how much product is coming out. I pressed very lightly on my lower lash line and the line was extremely thin and nice. I can't really do a soft smokey look with this, when I mess up and wipe the liner off, most of it comes off. My prestige pencil liner does a much better job at this. I would say this helps to create a really polished neat look. I really like making cat eyes with my Stila liner, but I actually think I'm going to go back to my pencil liner. Stila liner dries fast,so you have to work quickly if you want to smudge it.

this does not smudge at all. The flow is even, but it dries almost immediately, so it's not for a smudgy, soft look. It is a hard, even line. Great for a vintage cat eye look. You can soften it just a bit by applying some shadow over the line.

I was able to control the flow. Most liquid eye liners come out way too much. This was the first one I really fell in love with.

Yeah I don't think it's that waterproof either, I can wipe it off with a qtip after I've first applied it. Maybe at the end of the day it is more waterproof but you can definately get it off with hot water.

Just water would not work since it's waterproof. Either use make-up remover or warm water and soap, but you would have to scrub, scrub, scrub!

How hard to wash off?
I'm looking for an eye liner pen that will have decent staying power, yet easy to wash off with cleanser & water. Is this the one? I prefer not to use eyemakeup remover as an added step, although i know... it's best.

this eye liner removes easily with regular make up remover. What I love most about it is stays on all day, doesn't give me panda eyes and because I'm a contact lens wearer, it doesn't break apart should my eyes tear. I do not use eye make up remover. You can't beat it for the price - I've tried everything and only wish someone told me about this Stila eyeliner much sooner. It would have saved me alot of grief.

This product does wash off easily enough, but I ended up returning it a week after I bought it. I love Sephora and do not mind spending the money if the products are good, but this might be the worst liquid liner I have ever tried (including drugstore brands).

I would say it comes off too easily without soap and water though. One smudge of your finger after having it on for a couple of hours and the liner would smudge...not normal for a liquid eyeliner pen.

The best eyeliner I have found is Kat Von D's Tattoo Pen. Granted, it stays on and you would probably be better off using an eye makeup remover to take it off. But it is virtually smudgeproof and lasts all day. A couple days, I haven't felt like taking it off so I leave it on and just do a but of touch up in the morning...but even then it doesn't smudge at all!!!

Hope this helps!

I apply a pretty thick line (I have small eyes) so it lasts about a good two months for me. This is not including everyday usage though so you might want to calculate that in as well. I would imagine with daily usage and a moderately thin line, it can last you two-two and a half months?

I usually re-up on this liner every month or month and a half. I would like to include that I do wear it everyday and touch-up my makeup twice a day. \
Tip: It's wise to purchase more than one at a time if possible as they do tend to run out a lot..

It's strange but I've found that some stores actually don't carry this brand (like the Sephora in scottsdale :( but I just order it online or pick some up when I go to Tucson) I'm not sure where you're from but since it's already a little pricey you could probably just add some mascara and something else to your order and get free shipping. On the west coast it takes about a week once your order has been processed.

I wouldn't recommend it since it is a liquid consistency. Brands should make a gel nude eyeliner for the waterline, that would be awesome! Unfortunately I don't think this one would work out for that purpose, it could irritate the eyes.

I wouldn't recommend this if you're using it on your water line. But if you're using it just below you could give that a go although, I don't suggest this for lining your bottom. For your water line I'd instead suggest the urban decay 24/7 glide on or the rimmel scandal eyes. They're both pencils but they go on sooo smooth. You shouldn't find a problem.

This does not smudge on my top eyelid at all, though does very slightly fade when worn for 10+ hours. Bottom line DOES smudge on me and requires a mid-day touch up. I actually would still recommend though. I like how it applies and the top line staying power is impressive to me.

If you look up and blink too quickly after applying, the product will transfer to your lids. Wait about 5 seconds to look up and blink . It should be good then. Other than that, it shouldn't be too watery.

I find it helped to shake it well before each eye. The formula is a little thin, but I prefer that rather than having it dry out as fast as some of the other pens. To avoid it getting all over your eye or running, I apply a single line to each eye and let it dry. I then go over with a 2nd coat to get the pigment level I want.

When I do this, I don't have any issues with it being too watery, and it applies really smoothly and quickly. Give it about 10 seconds to dry after each coat and you should be fine.

Did you try shaking the pen first? I had this problem once when I let it sit in my drawer for a while without using it, I thought that maybe the product had separated inside, so I shook it and haven't had a problem since.
