Questions & Answers for Stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

Question
How does this compare to Tarte's liquid eye liner?
I recently received the Stila waterproof liquid eye liner and i'm excited to try this out because of all the great reviews. But, i just realized it contains parabens and i'm trying to go all natural with my make up products. Tarte has a very similar appearing black liquid liner (all-natural, paraben-free!) but i haven't heard anything about that liner and was hoping someone who has tried both could give some advice and info on how these compare to each other. Thanks!

I actually have them both (Stila and Tarte) and like them equally the same, so if you're trying to go paraben free, then go with Tarte. I think they both are easy to apply and both long wearing.

I tried using Tarte's Clay Waterproof Eyeliner, it barely lasted the commute to work. I tend to have a problem with excess oil on my eyelids though- the best part about Sephora is that they let you try the product and return it if you're unsatisfied. (Even if you've used it!) So I would suggest giving the product a try- it's great that you're committed to natural make up products.

I currently own both. I purchased the tarte to try it, I do like Tarte, but not as much as my stila eyeliner. I also tend to wear products with little parabens and the such, but I wear them in a very limited capacity. Its almost impossible to totally avoid them if you love makeup... Its my lotions and hair products including dye, which I purchase with lower doses of poison. I keep a close eye on the things I slather on too.

I'm on my second pen and it's been almost a year since I first tried this. I'd say using it everyday it will last about 3 months. My first pen didn't even totally dry out, I threw it away after 3 months when the product wouldn't flow as well as it originally did and I'd have to go over the line twice. It seems to me like the tip wore out before the product was used up...Basically it's a great value!

not the best product for smudging, I like a very precise line, with extending outward from the eye corner. Dries quickly and stays put, so, if you want smudges, should probably pick a different liner.

the product does have a tendency to smug in the corners of ur eye but only if you rub it or in extremely heat. the product last about 6-8 weeks total before you would need to get another.

The pen has lasted me about 3-4 months (I use it probably 4x a week on my upper lids only). I would assume it would last you about 2-3 months if you use it everyday.

It does not smudge on the upper lid, but if it gets wet (ex. if you use it on your lower/upper rim) it bleeds - and I found that it got in my eye and stung. If you put it closer to your lash line, you should be OK.

I definitely don't think so! Mine is constantly drying out, so the tip of my line is never as precise as I could get it with the KVD. I'm so sad I ever strayed away from her tattoo liner. This Stila one pales in comparison.

answer 3
Depends on how even your hand is and how sensitive your eyes are. Mine are about average, and if I carefully apply it to my waterline and pull it away from my eye to wipe any excess from the eyeball side of the waterline, I'm fine. However, the tip is fine enough that you can go right under your lashes and still get it extremely close. Also, when lining on top, it's harder to pull your lid away to wipe any excess from the top, so occasionally the tip has gotten so close I've gotten a bit in my eyes and irritated them - but I guess that's the price you pay for a super precise liner that gets incredibly close to the lashes! Hope this helps.

No, not for the inner lash line! It runs immediately into the whites of your eyes. This is for the eye lash line only, as all liquid liners are. You need a pencil-type for the inner rim. Try Tarte "emphaseyes." That is my favorite, & I have been through a lot looking for the perfect inner rim liner.

You can control how much product is coming out. I pressed very lightly on my lower lash line and the line was extremely thin and nice. I can't really do a soft smokey look with this, when I mess up and wipe the liner off, most of it comes off. My prestige pencil liner does a much better job at this. I would say this helps to create a really polished neat look. I really like making cat eyes with my Stila liner, but I actually think I'm going to go back to my pencil liner. Stila liner dries fast,so you have to work quickly if you want to smudge it.

this does not smudge at all. The flow is even, but it dries almost immediately, so it's not for a smudgy, soft look. It is a hard, even line. Great for a vintage cat eye look. You can soften it just a bit by applying some shadow over the line.
