Questions & Answers for Stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

Question
Problems using with eye primer
I have been using this liner for some time and love it. Recently I purchased UD Eyeshadow Primer Potion which works wonders but... it seems like my liner isn't working well with this primer. I'm not sure if the product is running low or if it’s the primer. It the product is drying super-fast in midline and then start to flake off. Has anyone else had this problem?

I used this liner with the UD primer potion every time I applied it. It's most likely that the liner itself is running low. When mine started to run low, I almost had to press down harder with the pen to get enough ink out of it. There's nothing wrong with the primer, though.

I use UD primer, I do not have a problem with the liner but it could be because I put shadow onto of the primer and then the liner.

answer 4
If it's not working well with other products (which it should) you might not be waiting until the UD primer is dry. Apply the UD primer first, then continue your makeup on the rest of your face and then go back and put your liner on once the primer is dry. If that doesn't work, then there could be something in either product that makes it not work well with the other.

Sounds like the liner is drying out. I used the same primer and it was never an issue until it started drying out, at which point going over the same area seemed to remove product rather than deposit it.

i haven't had that particular problem, but i am guessing this eyeliner would work better with the stila prime pot than Urban Decay primer, which I also have and use with this liner, and i suspect was the reason the liner would start to smudge in the corners of my eyes by the end of day.

It could be the ingredients that don't intermix well. Some brands don't mix well because, well, they're different brands.

I'm extremely pale (my friends say my skin tone is "neon white") and I have green/hazel eyes. I've always worn black eyeliner. I find that brown doesn't go very well with my eyes, but grey looks okay. I'd say go with the black. As long as you don't overdo the line and make it TOO thick it should be fine (:

I think because of your skin color (light/pale) you should go for the BROWN! It will still be dark, but not so harsh in bright lights, however, in dim lights I don't think it would make much of a differrence.

I'm pale and have green eyes ... and I use the black. This isn't the kind of eyeliner you smudge, its the kind you apply in either a thin or bold cat eye effect ... and it looks really beautiful in black against a green eye. I tend to make the rest of my face very natural and understated, so its nice to have the eyes really pop.

Yup. It would definitely be too harsh of a color. It's too harsh on my skin and I have slightly darker than "medium" skin with brown eyes and I think black is too harsh on me.

Depends on how even your hand is and how sensitive your eyes are. Mine are about average, and if I carefully apply it to my waterline and pull it away from my eye to wipe any excess from the eyeball side of the waterline, I'm fine. However, the tip is fine enough that you can go right under your lashes and still get it extremely close. Also, when lining on top, it's harder to pull your lid away to wipe any excess from the top, so occasionally the tip has gotten so close I've gotten a bit in my eyes and irritated them - but I guess that's the price you pay for a super precise liner that gets incredibly close to the lashes! Hope this helps.

I'm on my second pen and it's been almost a year since I first tried this. I'd say using it everyday it will last about 3 months. My first pen didn't even totally dry out, I threw it away after 3 months when the product wouldn't flow as well as it originally did and I'd have to go over the line twice. It seems to me like the tip wore out before the product was used up...Basically it's a great value!

not the best product for smudging, I like a very precise line, with extending outward from the eye corner. Dries quickly and stays put, so, if you want smudges, should probably pick a different liner.

The pen has lasted me about 3-4 months (I use it probably 4x a week on my upper lids only). I would assume it would last you about 2-3 months if you use it everyday.

It does not smudge on the upper lid, but if it gets wet (ex. if you use it on your lower/upper rim) it bleeds - and I found that it got in my eye and stung. If you put it closer to your lash line, you should be OK.

This product is about as easy to use as it gets for liquid eyeliners. First, it comes as a felt tip pen, not a brush, so you have a much finer tip that is a bit stiffer and so far easier to control. Second, you are getting a perfectly even color flow with no redipping necessary, as with a brush. Third, it's easy to store - just keep it capped, and it's very skinny. I find the length great for my hands. Hope this helps!

I find this product very easy to apply. My experience with most other liquid eye liner has been a love hate relationship. This is not too liquidy which is great because you don't have to worry about applying too much. It goes on very smooth and only takes a matter of seconds depending on how thick you like your eye liner.

I think it really depends on what your eyeliner style is. I used this for mostly for tightlining my upper lashline and quick smudging on my lower lashline (to prevent crazy smudging from my cream-based liners), and I actually had to trash my pen because I used it for 1 year straight (hygienic reasons).
But if you're into thicker eyeliner styles like w/ cat eyes and whatnot, it'll probably last you minimum 2 months - more like 3 or 4 months though.

I'm not sure about all over the eyelid smoky looks, but I always smudge this on my lower lash line to prevent a "drawn on" look. As soon as I apply the liner, I immediately take a flat/push brush and brush out the ink. You have about 3 seconds to smudge before it completely sets. You'll get the hang of it though! No worries.

This actually is more of a precise liner; the product is basically ink-like and it dries fast, so if you mean to smudge the liner and create the smokey effect that way, my answer is, no. However, if you create the smokey look with other products and use this liner, this will definately give you a sharp, clean, dramatic, and bold line top and bottom that will last all day long :)

Personally, I don't ever "smudge" eyeliner. I think it takes away from the richness of the liner. I apply a lighter eye shadow, then apply the liner. once the liner has dried (10 seconds...very quick!), I use a brush to smudge dark eyeshadow on the line, making it thicker and darker towards the outside. the trick is to blend between colors so you don't get harsh lines between the light color of the eyeshadow, the dark of the liner and the smudging color.
