Yes, it tingles for a couple of seconds and also hydrates your lips. It has a pretty glossy finish with a tint of color.

answer 2
It provides a slight amount of tingle, however nothing like their lip glosses in the tube. I haven't noticed that my lips have improved from this just yet, but it definitely doesn't give that drying-crusted feeling like many glosses do.

The formula in this product is very light, moisturizing and non-sticky. It provides you with a nice wash of color. But, as for your "tingling" question, it does give you a tingling sensation when you first apply it, but it eventually goes away.

It does not tingle as noticeably as the regular Buxom plumbers but when you apply it you can definitely see a different in the volume of your lips. I love this stuff and everyone should have it!

Unlike other plumpers, this balm does not have that irritating, super stingy feeling--which I love. It does tingle a little when you first put it on, but in a pleasant way, I think! If you're looking for something REALLY stingy, this isn't it. But light tingles? Yes.

This is a very moisturizing lip gloss. The color I have is Waikiki, and is very sheer and natural looking. Its not at all sticky, and doesnt make your lips tingle. There is also a handy little mirror inside the lid.

comparison to korres lip butter?
Has anyone used the Korres Lip Butter (preferably the Wild Rose one) and this product before? What's the difference?

answer 1
The Korres Lip Butter is a much thinner (if that makes sense) texture....it is also much much more pigmented. The Wild Rose shade is a soft rosy red. The Buxom balm has a creamier texture and is much more subtly tinted. I prefer the buxom balm overall because it is more nourishing. However, the Korres balm is good if you want more color payoff and a less thick texture.

This product isn't as natural, and has a little bit less of a scent, but it is mildly plumping and a GREAT balm.

answer 3
The Korres is more pigmented and more tacky feeling, strongly scented (in my opinion). I definitely prefer this to the Korres lip butters. Korres does make a nice "cherry oil" gloss, but if you are looking for a potted gloss, stick with this or Mac's lip conditionners.

I truly love Korres lip butter, which is a little more lip balmy than this product. I really like both the Buxom Big & Healthy lip balm and Korres lip butter. The buxom feels a little more luxurious and is longer lasting. A nice tingle that is not overpowering. Wild Rose lip butter gives a nice pink color to your lips. I also like the Jasmine for a natural look.

answer 5
the korres lip butter in my opinion is far creamier and moisturizing and more like a balm than the buxom balms which remind me more of a stain and gloss combined. The wild rose is a more intense blue red that resembles a lipstick more than the buxom bora bora balm...altogether I love the color of the bora bora better but the feeling of the korres lip butter better its a tradeoff I own both and use both...love red lips!

The Korres lip butters are not going to make your lips tingle, and they do not make any claims to plump your lips. The korres ones also have more of a natural shine to them, while this balm is quite shiney.

Hi,

I've used both. They're both really good while on your lips. However these Buxom seem to have a residual effect where my lips feel great for hours after the balm is gone. I suppose it probably comes down to which shades meet your needs.

Hope this helps.

In my opinion, and we all have different tastes. I live in Northern Wisconsin, we have the most brutal dry conditions and we heat our log home with wood, - it does not get any drier than that... this has been a treasure for me, and I find to work the best of all of the lip balms, and I have a junk drawer of the most expensive ones full of useless, sticky, non-healing ones full. Give it a try , you can't be disappointed, I went out and bought the pencils and the lipbalms and the ones for using as just a lip color after trying the lip pencil...that was that healing !

I find this more moisturizing and for longer than Smith's resoebud salve. While many adore it, I'm also not a big fan of the Smith rose scent (though you can get their products in strawberry, etc) and I find this buxom gloss much more enticing- the colour is so sheer is it a similar product. Plus, there is a mirror in the lid. For the price point, if you adore Smith's and love the scent, you may want to stick with it as you can use in on your cuticles, etc.

This is the answer I give pregnant friends: If you have doubts about the safety of a product while pregnant, find an alternative. The fact that you have doubts is sufficient to seek a different product. There's no point worrying about the safety of a product while you have so many other worries during a pregnancy.

Hi,

Please do NOT ever ask reviewers for medical advice as they're not medically trained. Only your doctor can answer specific questions like that, since he or she knows your medical condition and might have specific feelings on certain products or ingredients. Reviewers are too willing to give medical advice when they have no medical background to do so. While I do have a medical background and do birth babies, I am not in any position to give any medical advice to you.

Please note that while some doctors feel one thing about certain products, others differ in opinions. Most docs tell women not to color their hair for example, when pregnant, but there's still a few who okay it. Everything depends on your doctor and your specific condition and issues.

Also, please note that some companies label their products as all natural, and all natural can include a lot of chemicals that are not good for pregnant women or those breastfeeding.

It's always best to check with the doctor, physician's assistant, midwife, or nurse to be safe.

Congratulations and enjoy your pregnancy.

It's an edited version of "Bora Bora." In reality "Bora Bora" is much closer to its swatch; the pictured example is not a color that's actually available and it's definitely not Portofino in the slightest. I've tried Portofino and it's not red at all, it's brown. I've attached an image of what "Bora Bora" actually looks like. Again, the pictured color does not currently exist. Here is a great review that shows how the colors truly look: http://www.beautyjunkiesunite.com/WP/2010/01/05/review-bare-escentuals-buxom-balms/ - As you can see from that, Portofino is just brown. These are amazing and I highly recommend them, but you need to look elsewhere for accurate color swatches.

I would email sephora or bare escentuals through their website. I bet they know the answer to this, something exact. I could offer suggestions, but none of them are exactly the same. Betty is close to the red. Dolly is close to the plum. Neither are exact, not even close. I would email, cause you asked for lipstick anyway. I do not wear any of the lipstick brands that sephora carries. You could bring it into a m@c counter, see if they can help.

Here are some suggestions. Layer them on your skin to match with your skin tone. This could work with a darker neutral shade lipstick with a generous layer of balm on top to give it more depth.

Possible match in the plum/violet group.

Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick doesn't have an exact match. Possible complimentary shades: Havana, Shanghai.

bareMinerals 100% Natural Lipcolor: Plum Brulee, Spiced Raisin.

I'm in DC and spent some time at the pool during our recent 100+ degree heat wave. This held up a lot better (in my bag, sitting in direct sunlight) than I thought it would! It did get very soft, but not liquidy to the point of being able to spill when I opened it. You should be fine for the heat and sun!

I saw a sample in the store where the Buxom decal had come off for whatever reason which made me think the same thing. I live in a very hot and humid region (South Texas) and I have tested this out with one of my balms. We have hit 90s already and it has held up beautifully. The product does get a little softer but the application and integrity has not changed.

I'm no chemist, but the chemicals listed is not the healthiest. Polybutene is used as an additive in engine oil. The version used in cosmetics is safe. Trimethylolpropane Triisostearate has a link to polymers (not a natural ingredient). Hydroxystearic Acid is a fatty acid. If you look up each ingredient on Google, you will find lots of info about the source. This isn't the healthiest balm/gloss, but there's much worse on the market.
