Questions & Answers for Caudalie Moisturizing Toner

Question
When do I use this product?
I love this brand and was wanting to purchase an entire line of cleansers and toners and moisturizers and whatever else. I pretty much needed, I guess, to know the order of my routine. Where would I fit this in?

I believe the typical rules with applying face products are to apply thin to thick. Apply your thinnest products first (toner, serums) and move on to your thicker ones (moisturizer, eye creams, sunblock). Thin to thick is a good rule of thumb to follow. For instance, in my regimen, I do toner, eye cream then my SPF moisturizer.

After you wash your face, allow it to air dry or gently pat dry with a towel. Using a cotton ball, saturate with some toner and then wipe your face with it.

I use the toning lotion after cleansing and before moisturizing. I find that I don't always need to moisturize after using it, and I live in Colorado (not even 100% humidity during a blizzard here :) ). Hope this is helpful.

I use this toning lotion after the Foaming Cleanser as my toner. You can then choose to use a moisturizer afterwards if one is still needed. I find that if my skin is not too dry of dehydrated that I don't even need a moisturizer afterwards bc the toner is so hydrating. It's very nice. Not like a regular toner that strips your skin and makes it feel dry.

Use this after you wash your face in the evening to clear last wash residue and prepare skin for evening routine. In the morning-do not wash face-but go over face with this product and then do your serums, moisturizers, and sunscreen.

I believe this would be after your cleasing routine and before your moisturizer. If you incorporate a serum in your skin care routine, it would be: cleasner, toning lotion, serum, moisturizer. Keep in mind that this product tightens pores and refreshes the skin, so it should be one of the first steps.

For my skin care routine, I use toning lotion as the first step. After washing my face with a cleanser, I gently and barely wipe out the water on my face and use this toner with a soft cotton. With this toning lotion you get to wipe out any makeup or dusts once more and provides moisture on your face!!!!!!!! LOVE THIS product SO MUCH~~~ My routine is cleanser-toning lotion-essence/lotion-eye cream/gel-moisturizer.

This is a toner and it states to use with a cotton ball. You use it like a regular toner, after cleanser and before moisturizer or serum, whichever you use. But this always goes after you cleanse your skin becuase it removes the traces of dirt and make-up that your cleanser didn't remove. Hope this helps.

I use it in mornings only.. I dont really like to use at night it might be drying using twice a day.
I use it after using caudalie gentle cleasner.....
the point of this product is to strip skin of leftover dirt but not to strip away the skin's natural oils...its clean but still moisturzing

I think you could use this without moisturizer. This formula is alcohol-free so it doesn't leave my skin tight or dry - and it actually provides a nice balanced hydration. I also have combination skin, and I use this under BB cream without a separate moisturizer and find it to be a great combo.

This is a toner...not a moisturizer. I use it after I cleanse my skin. It gets the remaining dirt/make-up off and also leaves your skin quite hydrated, unlike most toners. I believe that's why they call it a moisturizing toner. You can then use a moisurizer afterwards. I sometimes don't even needs one if my skin is not too dehydrated.

This is definitely strictly a toner and I would not recommend using it as a moisturizer. If you want something light and not over drying I would recommend the Caudalie Vinexpert Riche Day Cream.

If you have oily to extremely oily skin, you could probably get away with using this as a moisturizer. However, for those with normal to slightly combination skin, I think you'd need to follow this with a moisturizer - otheriwse it may too drying. It's still a toner - which may usually need to be used in conjunction with a moisturizer. The toner is hydrating in a non-oily way, so it may be important to provide your skin with additional moisturizer(s).

I've tried the cleansing water, too, and I love it also. I think the main difference is that the cleansing water is just that - cleansing (great make-up remover). The toning lotion works to improve your skin's clarity and appearance (I did not get that from a commercial!) My skin is very difficult, and I have had no problem with this product. In fact, my skin looks better from using it for only about two weeks. It's definitely worth asking a sales associate at your Sephora for a sample.

This is the toner. The cleansing water is actually more like a make-up remover. The cleansing water actually has much more of an oily feel to it whereas the toning lotion is very much comparable to the texture of water. However, I have seen people with very dry skin use the cleansing water as a toner.

I think the c.water is to clean your skin of impurities, the toner comes after to tight your skin and close your pores. The later, can also be use on your eye lids (usually toners can not be used like that) to remove eye shadow make up. The toner leaves your skin refreshed, tight and with radiance. I love it.

I use the cleansing water in place of soap. It works great to take off make-up and grime when ur too tired or lazy to wash with water. The toner is to use after cleansing to further remove stuff your face wash may have missed and to help your face lotion moisturize your skin better.

The Cleansing Water removes makeup and cleanses skin, and is PH balanced like a toner. To use, soak a cotton pad with the cleansing water and gently sweep over face and eyes. Repeat until the cotton is clean (no rinsing necessary). This cleanser is great for the most sensitive skin because it is very soothing and doesn’t require scrubbing or rubbing.

The Toning Lotion contains active ingredient 90% pure Vinolevure solution (most concentrated form) which holds 100x its weight in water. This product is suitable for all skin types, helping to boost skin’s softness and moisture. Apply with a cotton ball to face and neck before face treatments.

Many time companies just update the bottles and say it's new and improved. I've used this toner before they updated their bottles.

The Caudalie Elixir is an essence, and not a toner. Google "korean skincare routine" and the elixir fits in where the "essence" belongs- cleanse, tone and then essence.

So, cleanse your skin thoroughly. Rinse. Apply toner one a clean cotton pad (or use your fingers!) all over your face. *Then* apply a light mist of essence all over- in this case, elixir- let it absorb for a minute or two, then your serum/ moisturizer. These aren't my favorite products, but I do swear by the method!

The Beauty Elixir has essential oils mixed in and left my combination skin greasy and gasping for clarity. The Toner is simply a straight forward, not overly drying but incredibly clarifying post face wash toner.

This toner is a regular toner, lighter and better to use whenever you feel like using. and the the elixir feels like having more ingredients in it, and stronger, and more refreshing. I usually use both together

When I talked to a representative of Caudalie she said it had one of the same ingredients as SKII. Maybe you could try that? I do know that I just purchased a new bottle of this Toner and they revamped the bottle. So maybe that is why you can not find it.

Question
Does anyone use this toner with a non Caudalie cleanser\moisturizer?
I'm currently using Origins Dr. Weil Mega Bright Cleanser and Moisturizer and I need to incorporate a great toner..from the reviews this one sounds perfect. Has anyone else experimented with multiple brands? By the way I have combo skin (oily t-zone, dry cheeks), with some acne scaring.
Thanks!!

I do use various Caudalie products, but I absolutely never concern myself with trying to stick to an "all one brand" regimen. I mix and match products that I like individually, and have never had any issues. I usually use Philosophy "Purity" cleanser and Clinique moisturizers, but have also used samples of others while using this toner and have not noticed any difference in the combos.
