The brow wax pencil is to help keep the individual brows in place to achieve a well maintained look. I use my brow pencil first, to fill in any thin areas, then follow it with the wax pencil to especially shape the outer brow and keep from any fly aways.

Brow wax is used to keep hairs in the eyebrows in place. It sometimes comes in pans, but this is just a pencil version. It compares pretty well with some of the Anastasia products. Hope this helps!

The brow wax pencil is great for smoothing and grooming stray brows. It's made like a chubby eyeliner and I just apply it in short strokes (just like a brow pencil) until I get the look I want.

I use a wax pencil to hold my coarse eyebrows in place all day. There is no color on the wax pencil. I also use Anastasia's colored brow pencil to fill in the gaps in my brows and the wax pencil will hold that color in place.

The wax helps hold your brows in place, especially if you have unruly brows. In my case, they are so straight that they tend to bend down. The wax helps keep them in place, lightly darkening them. This has helped me to minimize how much color I add to my brow to "fill" in areas.

Question
Instructions included?
In the description of the "Master's class", it doesn't say whether there are written instructions as to how to use the products: Are there written instructions or maybe diagrams? Thanks!

The product comes with a description of the contents but no instructions on how to use them. I would disagree that it's self explanatory. Sure you can probably figure it out but if you haven't used a blush stick or their photo op previously you may not know how to best use those products.

Vauge instructions are included. They go more into detail on what the product actually is and how it preforms, but the Photo-Op, Cheek Stain and Braw Wax all have a little sentence or two explaining how to use them.
Honestly though, the kit IS pretty self explanatory and fantastic for pulling together a nice natural full face quickly. The colors are basically foolproof for many I think(aside from the stain, its very sheer and if your dark complected you'd really need to pile it on)--As far as a diagram, it's what you see on the box cover, but in the package insert it's alot easier to see.

Yes, instructions are included. Most are good instructions, but there's no detailed instructions on how to create looks if that makes sense (like with the eyeshadow palette.) Regardless, I highly suggest this kit!

I have not purchased this kit, however I've purchased several other kits by smashbox and they've always included instructions for use. I'd be surprised if this one didn't. Hope that helps. It looks like a great kit!!

Of the five colors in this palette the lightest(bone) and the darkest (deep brown) are matte. The three colors in the center that I would describe to be pink champagne, medium amber brown (warm), and a wonderful deep taupe with a slight hint of purple cast, all have a slight pearl-essence-not glitter just the right amount of shimmer. This is my favorite piece in the kit and that was unexpected.

Hi again! This is just a quick little edit on the answer below-the middle shade, now that I'm looking at them in pure sunlight, is more warm golden brown, and the end color is warm as well(both). The only cool shade really is the second from far left, (still a nuetral taupe, looks less grey in the sunlight.

They are universal and brown-ish, ranging from light to dark. The far right is a matte light cream(warm), followed by a soft shimmer warm toned beige, the middle is straight up nuetral mid tone tapue shimmer, then a cool toned slightly lighter greyish taupe shimmer, and the far left is a dark nuetral chocolate brown(slight shimmer), which makes a great lining shade for fair to mid skin tones.--when I say shimmer, I use the term lightly-these are not flashy or glittery by any stretch of the imagination, just nice and wearable.

Question
Is the brow wax pencil for shaping brows?
Just wondering if it serves the same function as the wax in the brow tech, which is another smashbox product I really enjoy. The wax in pencil form seems like it would be too solid to be used nicely.

The brow wax pencil seemed to glide on as if it were a liquid gel pencil. It seemed to dry and did not have any tacky feel. I love the fact that I don't have to bother with a brush. I have used the brow pencil before and after applying my colored eyebrow pencil and it works great either way. I love this pencil!

The pencil is soft enough to groom your brows, but not so soft that the tip gets mushy or falls off. I'd chill it before sharpening, just to be on the safe side...

This also makes a pretty fab colorless lip liner. I used it before applying a dark lipgloss, and there was no feathering or travelling outside the lip line.

Yes! Its very nice, I like that its clear...you just need a light hand and a grooming brush or baby toothbrush to brush em in place and they stay!
I didnt like the original brow tech too much, it always went on too heavy to me, this is easier to control. That pot wax was gunky(and with the powder..yeesh, just not me, I wound up looking like Joan Crawford, in a bad way)-I had gone back to brush on gels for awhile-not anymore!

Yes, the pencil serves the same function as the brow tech in a pot. It's actually fairly soft, so it goes on easily.

a. this does NOT come with a DVD! which i'm glad of as well.
b. the mascara formula is long-lasting, but i think what's special is the wand, which is little & bent. it does help, i find, with getting to every lash, and is made of traditional materials, rather than rubbery silicone like so many mascara wands today. for instance, i can't use givenchy's terrific round brush bc i'm allergic to the silicone.
anyway, it's terrific if you wipe off a lot of the excess product.

The poured photo op is a light creamy consistency that glides onto skin. I like the mascara but it isn't too dark if you like a darker shade. I think it's supposed to be meant for touch ups around the corners and bottom lashes.

Yes this compact does include a nice brush. However, I have not used the brush to apply. I decided to use a swab or sponge app. and then blend/pat with my pinkie. This worked very well.

The two lightest ones tend towards the warm side, the mid shade is completely nuetral, the second to far left is cooler, and the far left is a--geez...I wanna say warmer-if I HAD to pick, but it'salso a very nuetral dark chocolate brown.
These colors are very univeral as far as I can tell, I go more into detail in an above question where I explain each color.

Question
What's the difference between this waterproof eyeshadow and regular eyeshadow?
Does it wear better? Is the finish at all dry or powdery looking? I usually wear Urban Decay but I thought this sounded interesting.

This eyeshadow is very long wearing yet non irritating. I don't use shadow base of any kind due to sensitivity, so my regular eyeshadow usually doesn't last very well. However, this eyeshadow did last. I would not really say that I think it is waterproof, such as for swimming but I have not put it to that test. I felt it applied with a very velvety texture-not at all dry or chalky. I did not use the brush to apply -instead used Qtip to place on lid and then blended/patted with my finger. It is easily removed with my Purity cleanser and I am impressed with this eyeshadow in every way.

The difference between this eyeshadow and "regular" non-waterproof eyeshadow is that it's a little thicker, less powdery (especially comparing it to Urban Decay, which you say you usually wear) which gives you a lot more control and preciseness while applying. I thought it was super easy to apply, it takes a little more time to apply and blend but it's well worth it. Applying shadow to the crease is awesome because it goes right where your brush does and doesn't fall out like usual powder does. Now, if you're used to Urban Decay, this is much more of a natural look, a lot less shimmer, but definitely great for every day use. They're really buildable so I made a dramatic smoky eye one night for going out with it. It's a really practical palette, I suggest giving it a try!! Every color is usable!

I would rate all of these products as slightly smaller than regular size with the exception of the eye shadows which I consider to be a generous full sized palette. Also I consider the eyebrow wax pencil to be very generously sized even though it might be a tad shorter than most fat cosmetic pencils.

The shadow palette is definetly full sized, and comes with a brush(its rather stiff but works well with the waterproof shadow, and the end of it is nice for doing a smoky line with the darkest shade), The Photo-op is full sized too, so is the Brow Wax(I assume-it seems to be more product than a brow tech pot), and O-gloss. Since Smashbox hasn'tdone a cheek stain too my knowledge, its hard to say on that one.
The cheek stain is much smaller than a Tarte stain, but larger than one of they're mini's, and I can see the amount of product given lasting a decent amount of time(unless your on the darker skin tone range). So, all in all, not a bad size.
The mascara is really the only item I'd say is obviously not full sized. Its a bit bigger than one of Sephora's deluxe samples, but not anywhere near 'full sized'. It's listed at 5.5 grams, if that helps at all.
