I haven't gotten any in my eyes yet, but it does make the (very sensitive and chapped) skin under my eyes burn briefly after application. It doesn't bother me enough to quit using the product. If you're looking for a less stinging alternative, try Clinique All About Eyes Serum roller ball.

The first time I applied it, a little bit got into my eyes and stung, but it did not hurt that bad. I figured out that when I shake it, I should then tip it back upright before applying, otherwise, some will sort of squirt into my eyes. I have sensitive eyes and this does not irritate them very much.

We are unaware of any reports related to “eyes stinging”, but caution our clients to apply the eye roller carefully on the under eye area to avoid contact with eye itself. If stinging occurs, please discontinue use of the product immediately.

Put this on first and then your regular eye cream. A general rule in using all face products when layering is to go from thinnest to thickest, and I'm assuming your eye cream is thicker than this product. Also I think it will work better this way.

I don't think it matters which order you use it - I keep forgetting and putting on my old eye cream first, but an eye cream isn't really necessary to use in addition to this product. You can use it either before or after, it doesn't matter. Either way works just fine. I have noticed AMAZING results in just a few weeks.

That's exactly how I use it-I first roll on the Detox Eye roller. Let it dry completely then use a light eye cream.

This product can indeed be applied prior to your regular eye cream, and we suggest letting it sink in for 1-2 minutes before applying the eye cream.

I actually tried it over makeup today, and it made my foundation look cakey as the puffiness disappeared, so I would definitely say use it before you put on makeup.

I definitely use it before any other treatments. It goes on rather wet and you need to give it a few min. to sink in. Believe me, it is worth the time it takes. If you stay dedicated and use it 2 times a day, you will see a difference.

I would say this product is a little too 'wet' to use with makeup. If you use a concealer under your eyes especially, I can see it getting really messy. It works fine underneath makeup. I used this product with other treatments including eye creams and serums with no trouble.

this product would work well directly after cleansing and before moisturizing...it tightens and sooths skin leaving it feeling a bit tingly (the way your skin feels after using tonor) absolutley no build-up created by this product...leaves your skin a blank canvas (I personally think it is too expensive for what it is (caffeine + witch hazel...you could probably get the same effect using black tea bags)

it can be used over makeup, but i'd recommend putting it on first. once you use it in the morning, you probably wouldn't need it later in the day.

don't think it can be used over make up. Sometimes when i would get home and put it over my make up it would get thick and cakey. Doesnt look nice. From the rep guy that recommended it to me at Sephora, it is supposed to go beneath make up, and best at night without makeup.

The directions,which I agree with(as an aesthetician)say to apply on clean skin before other eye cream...I believe you can touch-up,but if you follow with your face routine twice a day,you should be good(apply in the morning and when you wash after dinner or before bed etc).Yes I did use this before bed and the caffeine is not there to keep you up---it's a cosmeceutical grade.

I would not put this on over make-up but I have used this eye roller after applying my acne cream and anti-aging moisturizer. Both of those products combined with the eye roller could cause issues but I have had no reactions in the 3 months doing this.

No, you can't use it on top of makeup. It will just rub the makeup away.

Applicator problems
LOVE this product - it seems to work very well to reduce undereye darkness - but I'm ready to throw the tube every time I use it. I can't get the product to come out of the roller applicator consistently. Anyone else have this problem? Any tips? I've tried shaking, rolling it to start it on my hand, etc. but it still won't come out on the areas where I'm trying to apply it.

I found that running the roller bar over my finger, then using my finger to apply worked much better. Otherwise it was pretty messy.

Try storing upside down,and roll back and forth around the eye socket area during application.I am sure that the manufacturers' cannot see each and every bottle so they don't know that 1 or 2 rollers don't work as well.The product in my opinion is worth the effort.

I don't know how well this will work to help get more product out of the eye roller but I think shaking it a few minutes before use and then setting it upside down (while you apply moisturizer, etc.) has worked for me so far. Hope that helps!

Turn it upside down for a couple of seconds before you put it on your eye area and then gently roll- this works for me!

I found holding it upside down and banging it against my hand until the serum comes out of the rollerball helps. However I lost patience and exchanged it for the Clinique version which works better and serum always comes out easily, with no banging!

I had the same issue, and I actually pulled the rollerball part out to see if there was a clog, and there was not. I stored it upside down, rolled the heck out of it and nothing came out. I was about to throw it out, but tried shaking it really hard first. I mean REALLY hard. It started to come out after that. Now, each time I shake it really hard, upside down, and it has been working well.

Once in a while i've had this happen, hold it upside down and at the same time give the ball a few little tap's so it pops up and down (it is like priming it), works for me!

I too was having this problem. It was very frustrating indeed, especially since I really love the product! I started storing the bottle upside down and that seems to have done the trick. Give that a try and see if it helps.

In order to "prime" the product ,it is necessary to turn the bottle over and give a couple of gentle shakes. That should help for sure!

Does this product work for all types of dark circles?
I never really had many problems with puffy eyes or hereditary dark circles, but I've noticed in the last few months that the skin directly under my eyes have lost some thickness and I have dark shadows starting in the in the inner corners that end about a third of the way out. I was hoping I was just over-tired, but it isn't going away. I'm 43 and guessing it's age-related :/ Will this product help to fix this problem or is a filler my only solution?

Hi, 40+ club here. Husband and I are not seeing less or lighter under eye areas. One day I was having an extra strong allergy day and was darker and redder than normal. The roller that day did wonders. Flat cooled and less discolored skin.
In general we keep it around for our puffy eyes due to allergies. Also great to sooth eyes after a cry...watched a sad movie the other night.

Don't think it works for all types of dark circles, because that was my intention for use, but didn't work on me. I returned it and have been using this Clinique all about eyes creme. Been using it for approx a week but the roller i used for over a month before i called it quits. Hadn't done anything apparent for me.

Okay Doll,what doctor said filler would go in the corner of your eyes for darkness? If no products work, you have options before filling your body with things that we don't know what will happen to us after 20 years(yes a filler is short-term and needs to be re-done and there are no long-term studies).Doctors are doing medical-grade peels around the eye area(ask first)...but as for this product,it is a great start--it doesn't burn and you could mix it up by asking your doctor for a scrip for retinol that is strong enough yet buffered for the eye area. Lots of luck.

I am 43 and over-tired as well and this product works miracles for me. Give it a try! With Sephora's great return policy, you can't lose. I bought it on a whim and thought I'd end up returning it, but instead I absolutely fell in love with it.

My experience is that it did nothing. I tried it under one eye only to see if there would be a difference - no difference at all. Don't spend the money on this.
