I am prone to breakouts and I was not a fan of the face wash that comes with it. I previously used proactiv but since it has micro scrubbing beads in it, that wasn't an option anymore. Philosophy's purity face wash works wonders with the clarisonic. It is gentle, really effective at cleaning, and hasn't caused my super sensitive skin any problems at all. I love it!

I use LOreal Revitalift facial cleanser. It is not harsh and with the Clarisonic, it leaves your skin wonderfully soft and smooth, never taut and dry. Plus, Loreal Revitalift smells so good and is inexpensive--you could get it at your local drugstore :)

No, it will work with any cleanser though they don't recommend using it with exfoliating cleansers that contain beads, etc. I use it with Philosophy's Purity Made Simple and I love it. It's a match made in heaven as far as I'm concerned. :-)

I use the Clinique 3 step system and because the products work best together I use the cleanser that goes with it. But the cleanser that comes with the Mia does work well so it comes down to your own personal preference. To answer your original question you do not have to use the cleanser that comes with the Clarisonic.

I use my regular cleansers (non-foaming), which include some water soluble oil-based cleansers. The brush can take on the tint of the cleanser (at least it did with the Bobbie Brown Extra Soothing Cleansing Balm; I don't generally wear makeup), but that came off easily just by rinsing the brush. As a kidney transplant candidate, I take the brush off the machine and wash it after each use and then leave it off so it will dry fully as I find it takes more than 8 hours for the brush to dry, even off the machine, and I don't want to use a slightly damp brush (I leave it uncovered and on the far side of the well-ventilated bathroom, away from the toilet or where my cats might access it). Thus far I've used it with the Clarisonic Gentle Hydro Cleanser (comes with the Mia), with Bobbie Brown Extra Soothing Cleansing Balm (blissful balm, very soothing, but alas not available here; wish it was, hint, hint Sephora!), and Shiseido cleansing oil. You need much less cleanser than you normally use; a little goes a long way and you can apply the cleanser to your skin OR to your brush (I applied the Clarisonic cleanser to the brush, the others to my skin and used the brush over them). I also use the delicate brush since I have very sensitive skin and rosacea....and haven't had any redness or sensitivity at all! Hope this helps!

You can use any cleanser you like. I don't recommend one that is gritty or abrasive since the brush will do the exfoliating for you. I do really like the cleanser that came with it and I use my Mary Kay Timewise cleanser or Philosophy Purity cleanser works awesome with this as well.

I don't think it is "clinically" proven but I would venture to say that it does. This awesome gadget does wonders for your skin to include deep cleansing and scrubs away dead skin. Accumulation of dead skin in your pores make them appear larger and make your skin look discolored. I would say that the same applies for scars.
When you have a cut, a scab forms so that skin can "grow" and heal from within. The clarisonic promotes skin cell turn over so that your skin can continously glow!
I hope this makes sense.

If you are acne prone like myself you will have an initial "purging" stage, but like all skin care treatments that are effective, it has to get to the root of the problem and bring it to the surface. Don't give up on it! It's has taken three weeks of using it and I freaked out at first noticing that I was breaking out more then normal (which was the purging stage) but like I said, this is necessary to get out the blackheads that were previously only surface treated. A couple of modification you should definitely consider if your acne prone: get the delicate brush head! The clarisonic comes standard with the sensitive brush head and I personally found it was a little abrasive for my sensitive skin. Also, avoid any gritty scrub type face wash. I previously used proactiv and this is not recommend with the clarisonic so I switched to philosophy's purity. It has oils in it but I have had no problems with it and it works great with the clarisonic. The oils have actually been beneficial to keeping my skin balanced and hydrated. Lastly, moisturize. Even in you are oily, you need to moisturize. If you don't, your skin will just produce more oil in effort to hydrate itself. A great one is proactiv green tea moisturizer. I swear by it. It's not greasy at all, it's effective, calming and gentle. It works great under makeup too! Hope this helps, but if you do notice this initial purging stage, just remember, any effective treatment is going to get worse before it gets better. Just stick with it.

Hi, I just posted a review about this. I also got this because I have light to moderate acne that just wont go away and it gets more obvious with makeup on. I purchased the Mia along with a Murad facial cleanser (also for acne) and the two of them combined are absolutely amazing. My face after only using it for 2 days is a whole lot smoother. The bumps are dissapearing. My blackheads are much lighter on my nose. My face feels clean all day long and my makeup looks much smoother on my face. Its amazing what this little machine can do. Try it with the murad, maybe it will help you too!!

Only once a day. I find that overusing this product can cause sensitivity to the skin. This product is THAT good that you only need to use it 2-4 times a week. I personally use it about 3 times a week and that's more than enough. This is exfoliating your skin and getting rid of dead skin cells. No need to do more than once a day.

Also, depending on the type of cleanser, that could dictate how often you use it. I personally use an all natural mild black soap. If you use something with salicilic acid or any other anti-aging, acne, blemish fighting chemical, it might be too severe for your skin.

Hope this helps.

How many times a day are you using it? I know when some people use it twice per day it dries out their skin which would make it more oily. So if your not already, I would try using it only once per day like at night. Or only a few times a week, that's what some people do.

It sounds like a natural reaction from your skin, perhaps your skin isn't naturally very oily so when you take it off, it's fighting to replenish the moisture back ASAP. It could also depend on the kind of cleanser you're using. I'd say solution #1 is to moisturize really well with a moisturizer that's not oil based. Personally, I swear by philosophy's hope in a jar....I started using it 3 years ago & haven't looked back!

Okay, if you feel even more oil on you after use, you should follow these steps. If you haven't already:
~ Rinse your face with med.-warm water
~ Apply lotion/ moisterizer to newly rinsed face
~ Wait until lotion/ moisterizer fully moisterizes, or when you can't feel it anymore
~ Gently rub face with DRY washcloth *NOT toilet paper!!!*

I went through the same thing with a different foliating face wash! These tips got me oil free in just two to three days. Don't give up!

I have combination/oily skin but haven't really experienced that. In fact, it has cleared up my skin. I use "Clean and Clear" cleanser with it. I have heard that if you press too hard while using it, it could over-stimulate your oil glands. Maybe use less pressure? Or a little bit of mineral powder on your face after cleansing. :)

The Mia doesn't have the body brush attachment capability. Sadly, you'd have to get one of the other Clarisonics for that. ;_;

However, I use the Mia with it's accompanying "sensitive" brush attachment on my neck, chest, and back. I find it works just fine and leaves my skin fresh and soft feeling; much better than any washcloth could. ^_^

It works best with creamy cleansers, in my opinion. With foaming cleansers, the foam dissipates pretty quickly when used with a Mia, so after a point it feels like you're just rubbing the brush head against bare skin. So I'd recommend it with a creamy cleanser - maybe like Purity Made Simple - unless you are open to rubbing the foaming cleanser on your face a few times as you are using the Mia. That's just my personal preference. As for exfoliating cleansers - don't use them with the Mia. It exfoliates already, so to add something with granules would be too much, unless you do it separately. (Even so, that might be too much exfoliation!)
