Yes you can--I find a brush creates more sheer and natural looking coverage than using the sponge, although the sponge is convenient for touch ups on the go. I haven't tried the loose powder so I cant compare.

I am fair also with a redish tint in areas. I use tender rose and it evens out my red areas and I actually use blush with this product.

I buy two different ones. I get really pale in the winter and really dark in the summer. I end up blending the two in the spring and fall and just use the dark in summer and lighter in winter.

You need to take a trip inside. I am african american w/yellow undertones as well. Laura Merciers product was suggested for that very reason. I hope to find the right shade for me.

although the color was right for me. I do like the product itself. It is light . You can not feel it on your face. It is matte for a few hours. I personally do not reapply.

Question
Lighter color than the loose powder?
Does anyone notice if the color of the pressed version is lighter than the loose? I use Rich Vanilla and it looks like the pressed formula is lighter and more yellow. It's still an amazing product!

Color doesn't appear yellow to me, it could be the undertone of your skin.
