Questions & Answers for Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo

Question
Color descriptions
Can anyone who has seen or worn these colors describe how they appear in the compact & when worn, please? I see what is probably the Lagoon in the photo but the swatch does not look the same. Aso, is Prism a black shadow with irisecsent or silver sparkles? Sephora is not describing these colors like they usually do for other brands. Thank you.

the purples (eggplant one) have a slight shimmer in them. the darker side as displayed is truly dark when goes on so I am careful to blend it on the lid into the lighter shade. You can also lighten it up with the amount you put on the brush. the lighter colors are still bold but soft for a more subdued look.

I use the Prism. I love it. It looks darker when you buy it than it does in the photo online. It doesn't sparkle. It just has a slight sheen about it so that it does not look flat. You can apply with a light touch for daytime or a heavier application for evening. It is beautiful.

Lagoon- is a softer version of Chanel's denim collection slate grey blue and grey asphalt shimmer. Gypsy- champagne shimmer and a merlot shimmer... mind you all these colors are pigmented , but subtle and sexy shimmer. I have tested all duos in the line and all the color combinations are gorgeous.

I bought and returned both the color duos you are referring to. Lagoon is very island like. The lighter color is a sea foam teal and the darker one is a deeper teal with slightly more green incorporated. The problem for me was the not the color but the actual composition, this shadow creases and does not blend well. With regard to Prism, the dark color is a charcoal with silver specs and when you apply, be careful, it gets everywhere. The lighter shade in Prism, is a pale oxford blue which is ok.

I can't respond to the first color choice you asked, but with Prism, the darker color looks more like a charcoal with iridescent sparkle. I liked it. Would not be too garish and glittery to wear everyday. While it looks almost black in the swatch, on the eye I think it would be more charcoal like.

Hey! Prism is black with sparkles. The blue color is more steel grey, but has a hint of blue. It is Angelina Jolie's smokey eye. Try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqGc9yiXsd8

I've found with these duos that the color that's in the pan is what you get on the lids so I do like them. The black color in Prism to me looks like it has silvery faintly blue shimmer (I think the shimmer is a bit like the color of the blue side of the pan). It's like having twinkly stars in a black sky.

I can answer the question about the Prism shadow. The black shade has iridescent sparkles in it. Many colors -- including silver. It's really beautiful, and goes on quite nicely (but you have to watch out for fall out). The shadows are really very pigmented and dense. I love them!

Yes, great colors for fashion forward & sophisticated & green eyes. Chanel also has a denim collection out with navys & baby blues. Visionaire is a liitle more subtle slate grey blue and a grey asphalt... sexy and fashion forward... definate must.

I have very green eyes. The Hourglass rep that I worked with (Laura, you rock!) said that I could really wear anything, but we went with Dune. The green color of the swatch online doesn't appear that green on (unless you were to wet the brush and make it far more dramatic). I purchased that one and would consider more. I liked the Prism set too for a smoky eye look. Wonderful product.

Dune would be a nice choice if you have warmer green eyes. I have hazel which tend to light brown/olive tone.

If you are asking about Prism, then absolutely! Green eyes in general - at least to my mind - always pop with purples and coffee (especially with a touch of bronze) shades. But then again, I have eyes some where between blue and green and I'll wear whatever I can get away with! :)

Something to try is to put on your shadow primer, then a line of black eyeliner, then your shadows (they will cover your liner, making it less noticeable) and then wear the liner of your choice -- whatever color you wear will just read a little darker. You get the definition you need, but the color you want.

I have green eyes and they were just too neutral for me. I prefer lilacs and purples to make my eyes pop and these were just too plain. they stayed on well and really looked great but not a big fan of the neutrals

Suede. The color on the right is darker in person. Makes a beautiful natural eye look for school or office. Be careful with compact. Don't let it ride on bottom of purse or backpack. My compact arrived broken in shipment because it was under a 16 oz. bottle of bubble bath (and Sephora had the boxed padded really well underneath and above my products).

Because I have brown eyes this blue/black combination looks really good. I line the bottom of my eyes in the blue and the top in the black. I put just a little on and it looks good in the daytime. It keeps my eyes defined and not fading out during the day.

Question
how shimmery?
My eyes are getting a bit crepey. How shimmery are these? I can do a bit of shimmer , but something too glittery just makes my eyelids look downright alligatory.

I have crepey (62 yo) eyes, and I have this in "Gypsy" and absolutely adore it! I can use the light side on lids and darker in crease, or vice versa! I always get complements with it. I'd say swatch it if you can, but the quality is fantastic; lots of pigmentation and soft as butter.
