How does it compare?

I have oily skin and have tried BE and Smashbox primers to help keep my foundation on. How does this compare? I don't have any other skin issues, just oiliness. I would like to not have to blot and powder my face all day long. Is this better for someone like me?

I have tried primer after primer to get help for my mid-day oil break through. I wear only mineral makeup and this primer does everything it promises and more. Don't be put off by it's consistency when you first try it. It resembles glue right out of the tube. Just use a small drop and spread evenly over face and let it soak in for a minute or two. I think you will be very surprised how well this works. Hope this helps you.

WAY BETTER thank SMASHBox Photofinish. I bought that and order this as a sample and LOVE THIS WAY BETTER. the Samshbox doesnt work for me at all and makes my foundation look cake-y because it never really absorbed or not in 10 minutes of waiting anyway. REALLY TRY IT, you will love it!

I've tried a sample of the Smashbox primer and I liked it a lot better than the Urban Decay primer. I also have oily skin and hated the Urban Decay primer.

Hi there,

I have the same problem and did not notice a difference at all w/ my oiliness when using this product. It felt quite thick/heavy on my skin as well. I like the Smashbox Light primer much better than this for my oiliness.

Although this product does not profess to be primarily a method of oil-control, it actually does a pretty good job of it! My face is ridiculously oily and I've tried all kinds of cleansers, toners, powders, and primers to remedy the situation. Of all the primers I've tried (including ones that are supposed to minimize shine and greasiness), this one has done the best job of keeping me shine-free. It's lightweight and non-greasy. When I use it I tend to use my blotting papers once in the afternoon, and I'm good to go.

The mattifying effect lasts all day. It really does nothing else, and nothing for holding my makeup. Don't blow 30 dollars on it. I'm sending mine back.

Just find a container around your house that holds an ounce or so and that's the amount you'll be receiving. Perfume bottles are a good comparison.
It only takes a very small amount so it will be lasting you much longer than a week. I would guess for me personally, it will last 5 months. I have never used a cream-based primer so again, that is a guestimate.
I cannot answer the brightening question as I did not buy both of them.

A regular (non color) moisturizer should go before a primer, because that will mattify or control any oils you have so your makeup, including foundation will go on smoothly and last throughout the day. So anything that gives skin moisture should go before primer otherwise you may turn oily.

That whole 'as long as you wash it off before bed, nothing should make you break out' is completely false, so ignore the previous answer to this.

This product is good for oily skin, but if you are REALLY worried about breaking out, try Too Faced's Primed and Poreless primer. That contains vitamins and minerals that will help keep skin healthy AND primed.

I wouldn't mix the primer with your foundation. It may not go on in the right consistency. The best way to "thin out" a foundation is to add some tinted moisturizer or you can use a different brush to apply it. The Sephora hd airbrush #55 for example is great.

i'm not familiar with that foundation, but i don't think it's the right texture for it. it's a very thick formula that sort of tugs the skin a little when applying if you're not careful, so i can't see it mixing well with other products. it also has a slight purple iridescence.

i never thought eyelid primer was necessary until a sales associate tried it on me. now i looooooooooooove it. the too faced eye insurance is bunk compared to this one. is the face primer worth the price tag? $30 for an ounce isn't bad if it works the way i hope it does.

As long as you wash it off at night then nothing will ever clog your pores. I think you will like this even better then pores no more but I would still keep that to touch up with later in the day over your makeup.
