Most of the ones that don't say shimmery or glitter are matte. If you're unsure and ordering by phone, a Sephora rep could always help you.

I just purchased MUSE and it is a pretty matte color - only the slight amount of shine. LOVE IT.

Essie's Matte about You. It's the most matte, applies thinly (so you can put your favorite topcoat underneath if you want), and is easy to find. Or, if you have a basecoat that leaves your nail matte looking when it dries (ridge-filling basecoats often to), use it as a topcoat and save your money.

Thanks for pointing that out. I worry about the chemicals all the time. Even things that are supposedly all natural often have inert ingredients that aren't natural. And not all natural things are good anyway.

I used this polish for a special occasion but try to be careful normally. Unfortunately, polish is probably the least of our worries. I have to wonder about all the electromagnetic rays our bodies are suddenly coming in contact with... It's everywhere.

Agreed. Every other big brand out there has gone 3-Free, even many drugstore brands. OPI, Essie, Zoya, Butter London, Rescue Beauty Lounge... these are all free of formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP. Why is Illamasqua holding out? It's really ridiculous these days, and incredibly scary that so many people don't know or care enough to stop buying products that continue to use such toxic ingredients.

While I don't have your skin tone, I did have a grayish polish from another company that I didn't like at all. I tried to give it away to a variety of friends, all with different skin tones, and we came to the conclusion that gray is not the best color for any of us. That's not to say it won't work for someone, but it sure didn't look good on any of us. There are so many other shades out there, that I'm just staying away from gray and not giving it to anyone as gifts.

A question I ask myself when buying nail polish is; would I where a shirt or blouse this color. If the answer is yes, then go for it. Besides if you decide you don't like it, Sephora has a wonderful return policy. I don't own this particular brand of grey polish but have the hello kitty MAC grey which is almost identical. I like they way it looks on me(fair/light ). It's an edgey color not everyone will appreciate it.

Agreed. I also have both, and Chanel Jade (407) is waaaaay prettier. It does have a little sparkle and it is darker. To me this has a yellow undertone, whereas the Chanel has more of a green. I do not think the representation of it on the computer is accurate because I was horrified.

I don't think Sephora will be getting them in since the body electrics were last season and those varnishes are of limited supply, unlike the illuminoil and gleam cream. While this may suck, the Art of Darkness varnishes are lovely as well and are in season. I think Sephora will be getting them in the near future.
