Questions & Answers for Illamasqua Powder Blusher

Question
H*ssy vs. Katie for light-medium skin?
I have NW20 skin, if MAC is used as a reference.
I'm looking for a good matte blush that won't look ridiculous on my skin, but will still give me the color I so desperately need.
I need something that is good for everyday but isn't too muted.
Thank you!

Hello,

I think you should try the color H*ssy for medium skin. The color Katie might be too light for your medium skin tone.

well Nars orgasm is a nice one as well as a few from illumasqua "dont know if i spelled that right" but also lancome has a nice variety :) it just depends on ur preference, if u want a nice pink, a coral, rose, or red color :) this website gives u more than enough options to play with :D

For reference, I am also MAC shade NW20 (in summer, NW15 in winter) and quite cool (pink) toned. I found that Katie, although a lovely pink blush, was a bit too cool-toned for me, barely showed up on my skin, and didn't quite look natural. It is only my opinion, but I would suggest that you try another shade instead. If you're feeling experimental, I've also had excellent luck with the shade Tremble!

I am the exact same complection as you, the blushes i use and that look great on my skin are Illamasqua "Katie"; MAC "Dame"; Chanel "Orchid Rose"; and a great drugstore brand Revlon "Rose Rapture". Hope that helped :)

Try LOVER. This color make look like nothing special in the pan but it's a great true Coral that looks SO NATURAL on the face and is perfect for everyday use. Totally matte but super pigmented so if you can use a little to get a natural-glow-within look or layer for a more intense pop of color.

I just did!! It's my new favorite blush! I would describe it as an abricot color. It's very similar to the coralista blush by benefit but slightly lighter and matte. It is gorgeous. I definetly recommend it!

In my opinion, the color swatch for Lover is not a good representation of the actual product. It is a mellow peachy color here but in real life, it is a much darker hue than the pic yet more vibrant as well. It is much more dramatic then the swatch above. Still a great color but not the quiet peach I was expecting.

I was wondering the same thing myself. I believe it's actually Lover. I confirmed this by looking at the enlarged pics at illamasqua.com. It's just too light to be Excite. Even though the pic looks bright, I've seen swatches of Lover and it's somewhat transparent in it's application and is not an overwhelming color.

Katie and Naked Rose would look great on you! They are subtle, but beautiful and pigmented at the same time. They work best on fair skin - Katie is a very light pink that gives a very innocent looking flush, and Naked Rose is a neutral pink that looks good on almost everyone.

I am not a woman of color, but I have dark hair, medium olive skin and green eyes. I don't like the way peachy/orange blush looks on me either! I love this true pink blusher-Tremble-and it delivers lots of color payoff for mimimal use of product. I think it would look BEAUTIFUL on your darker skin! Hope this helps!

Powder blush does not cause breakouts on skin of any kind. period.
Does this mean that you can't or won't breakout while using it?
Of coarse not.
But if you do, don't blame the blush.

Not at all. I have oily skin that is often broken out (Philosophy's 'On a Clear Day' works wonders, BTW), and this blush stays on for more than 12 hours. I use it every single day. I have it in Panic, and i have a light skin tone, and it is pretty, and i make it look subtle and natural.
This does not cause breakouts and it lasts alll day on oily skin.

I have this blush in Panic. i love it. it looks pretty intense, but when applied, it looks amazing. i have very light skin, not quite pale, though. You can make it subtle, or apply more for a dramatic look. i like blush to look like i just got done on a long run or if i was standing outside in the middle of the winter. i am very very happy with this blush. i will buy again!

Based on the brightness of Hu$$y, I would think you should go a bit lighter than Sin if you have light skin. I would say if you get it, you may have to use it sparingly because these blushes are super pigmented & worth every cent. I think Kiss may work better, although you may have to use a light touch with it as well. I have a Nars blush in Crazed that I have to dab on, but I love it, so I'm fine with that. If you like & want it, get it, you'll probably love it.
