Questions & Answers for Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation

Question
shade for fair skin
My skin is very verry fair. Ghostly, actually. I have mostly yellow undertones, but not toooo yellow. As pale as the 105 is, I do not wish to look like a cheap ghosty goth, so what is the next palest after that that would look natural?

Your best bet might be to mix two shades. You might need to mix RF100 which is like RF105, but without pink undertones, with RF 135. You can not purchase RF100 on Sephora's website, but it is on the Illamasqua website. You might be thinking that would be too much, $60 for foundation, but considering it is two containers it would probably last you two years! I hope this answer was helpful.

Your closest match might be shade 135. It's not super light but is the lightest shade with a yellow undertone. I have very fair skin with a pink undertone, and I have to use shade 120. I could use a slightly lighter shade, but that would be that weird 105, which the Sephora assistant told me is meant for drama, not realism.

I would use this shade as a sort of foundation shade "adjuster." Say your current foundation shade is perfect for your summer coloring, but once winter rolls around you're in need of a foundation that may be 1-2 shades lighter. Just use the palest Illamasqua foundation to dial down the color of your summer foundation shade and you'll have a wide range of foundation colors with just the two bottles.

Shade #105 has a very slight Pink Undertone and is for the palest of pale skin coloring, it also can be used sparingly as a Matte Highlighter in contouring for people with medium/darker skin tones - I use it every day as my foundation and love it! Shade #120 carries more actual Color and has yellow undertones... sometimes I mix the #120 with the #105 to warm it up depending on the lighting or event. Because of the quality and blend-ability of Illamasqua's Foundations, Concealers and Powders you can make it work for you... hope this helps

Yes, the Rich Liquid Foundation is "oil free"... but it's not drying and can be sheered down with the Illamasqua Primers for a lighter finish

The satin primer from Illamasqua is great for "thinning' out the foundation. I would recommend squeezing a bit of the primer on the back of the hand then mixing the foundation with it then applying with a stiff brush.

The best way to apply this foundation is to first sheer it out with moisturizer. Add your daily moisturizer on the back of your hand then add a small drop of the foundation, mix them together evenly. Then use a stippling brush to apply the foundation. When it feels like it is beginning to drag, keep buffing it in. Afterwards go over any hard to blend areas such as around the hairline with a damp sponge. (As shown in a Wayne Goss tutorial on YouTube)

Question
Better than Laura Mercier?
Hi does anyone know how this foundation compares to Laura Merier's Silk Cream foundation? I am currently using that and I love it but I want to try this because it sounds interesting and fun. I dont want to order it if it is not as good as what i am using. By the way I am soft ivory in the silk cream. Do you know what color I would be?
If anyone can help it is very much appreciated!
Thanks

If you see my review you will understand why I would not recommend it. I've tried all the pale shades they offer and they are EXTREMELY neon yellow based. They are not warm shades, but very yellow without a hint of pink in sight. I looked jaundiced in every shade. Laura Mercier's cool foundations have a natural porcelain base and will look quite different than any of the pale shades you will find here (especially with the shade of LM you mentioned that you currently use)

Question
PLEASE HELP CHOSE COLOR
Hi! I am fair with yellow undertones and I have no idea what color to get. The 105 looks white. I am fair but not white. The 120 looks pink. The 135 looks promising but I dont know if it would be too dark.

I wear Soft Ivory in Laura Mercier's silk cream foundation. Sephora does not carry that shade but if someone is familiar with it it is perfect! I wear Laura's powder foundation in #1. I also am NC 15 in MAC. Chanel and Dior's lightest colors are too dark for me.

I hope the picture helps. **I AM THE BRUNETTE ON THE LEFT** Not the blond.

I really appreciate any help :) Thanks!!

Sommer,

I suggest you take the lightest foundation with warm undertones and use NF105 (the white shade) and use it to turn the colored foundation down to your desired level. Just dollop a bit of the colored foundation onto the back of your hand or any dish to mix in, then a few drops at a time, add NF105 until the shade is just right.

If this doesn't work, then try taking another foundation that you know does work for you and mix that with the palest warm Illamasqua foundation. This way you'll get the right shade, but more of the consistency of Illamasqua's foundation.

Hope this helps you in any way. Enjoy!

I am also NC15 in Mac's studio fix. I suggest going to the Sephora store (if possible) and trying the 120 or 135. 120 might be a little too light, but it is better than being too dark.

Illamasqua's Rich Liquid Foundation has a fuller/heavier coverage than the MUF HD... however, I sheer-down Rich Liquid with the Satin Primer or a damp sponge for a lighter airbrushed look... and use a heavier application of the Rich just for the areas with any redness or breakouts followed by a dusting of powder to set it... the products last and it works for me!

Good luck because this coloring system is the worst as far as swatches and actual reality goes (or even in sequence of what should be palest to darkest). After trying 4 shades myself I learned that 135 is actually the absolute palest skin shade (not 120 as shown after 105). I would say your best bet is to go into a Sephora of course or brace yourself or another return Sephora does make it easy to do so and has the best return policy on earth). I would order in 140 and the next one down and see whats what and return what does not work. Its all you really can do because online swatches cannot be trusted.
