No! Well, at least the concealer isn't. Not only is it not oil-free, it's not even non-comedogenic (meaning it contains oils that have a high probability of clogging your pores). Specifically, the concealer in this kit contains hydogenated coconut oil, which can and will clog your pores right up and make your acne worse. I have acne prone skin and I found that the coverage provided by this kit was pretty good, but it wasn't at all worth it considering the concealer just gave me more acne to cover up!

This product takes several layers for the concealer to actually conceal; if you have a lot of imperfections you should still try this steal of a deal, but you will need another concealer!

I would suggest this kit would work fairly well, though the concealer is pretty translucent and would probably take some layering to really hide a red spot. The 'primer' seemed to irritate my pores, I believe it clogged a bit for me. I too have oily, acne-prone skin. Experienced a bit of a breakout the day after usage on my nose, I believe from the primer.

I have the same sort of skin. It doesn't offer a maximum coverage like other concealers. It is more of a light finish, but I have found that since switching from my heavier Mac products that my breakouts are minimal. It is really light on your skin and keeps a fresh look.

The idea is buildable cover--for oily skin (which I have) I skip the primer, and then just repeat the process (concealer, dust of mineral foundation) where I have something I'd like to hide. But get something to dab away oil, even cheap toilet paper in a pinch, instead of re-applying all day. I think this could work for you!

The concealer is very good. I use my fingers, not the brush though or it does look streaky. The powder is also good but be sure to blend it also or it looks cakey.

This doesn't look cakey at all and I use it to cover blemishes, scars, and dark circles under the eyes... Cover all of your blemishes lightly first, wait a minute, then go back over them again as many times as you need to waiting a minute in between applications... Hence the "buildable" part... you really just have to wait a few in between layers to get the best coverage. The Boing Industrial Strength concealer is the same type of product and also awesome and comparable in price just for options sake.

The primer is amazing and yes, it will help your foundation or concealer cover your breakouts. However, if your pimples are large, I would recomend this: Use the Sephora primer, it's amazing. Then use the concealer that comes in this kit to cover large pimples or enlarged pores. (I have both). Then I use the Clinique Acne Solutions foundation over the primer and concealer. This foundation has been a miracle worker for my face. I keep the mineral powder for a light setting powder or touch ups. I was shocked at how quickly my skin began clearing after doing this.

I use this over my huge zits all the time! I'll warn you, it CAN build up around a zit if you have flaky dry skin around it, but if you dab some moisturizer on it, you should be just fine. The concealer works GREAT in conjunction with the foundation!

I am Japanese/Irish. I have light/yellow skin. I went in store and found this kit matched perfectly. I just had to add a little bronzer for a nice summer glow. I would recommend this kit; the other two kits are really dark and you can always add some color if this one it a bit light.

If you like the results with the beige keep using it. If not get the light and compare. You might have to blend them both. I am a light Italian but have an olive undertone. Some lights are too pinky and some beige's are too yellow. So I combine colors to get a better match. It isn't easy, but it works for me. Hope this helps you-Good Luck

This product is much quicker than original liquid foundation. This product takes me about 2-3 minutes tops to completely finish this makeup. I put the smoothing primer on my t-zone and then the concealer, pretty heavy, and then put on the foundation using the white sponge(which is medium coverage. Then if you put eyeshadow and liner, mascara, that takes me 2 minutes more.

Hi!
Only the primer is sample sized, but a little drop goes a long way. I am so impressed with this kit. The compact and the concealer are full sized and so are the brushes. The mirror is underneath the make up-it opens up underneath. I would pay full price for any of these products.
I really liked the color as I am very fair with very dark hair. Sometimes the lightest colors of makeup make me look ghostly, but this was a perfect match! I hope that this is helpful!

Question
What kind of finish does this leave on your face? Like a fresh glow or like BE Matte or BE regularly powdery texture?
Hello Ladies.

Tell me, please, what kind of finish does this leave on your face? Like a fresh natural glow or a powderly texture like BE Matte or regular BE? I have used BE for a few years and am beginning to see it really settle in to my pores and fine lines, quite unbecomingly so I must add, even with a moisturizer and primer or two (or three - LOL).

I am looking to go back to a "fresher-looking" face and wonder if this will provide it for me? I am almost 39 years old, have fair skin, normal to a little dry, some freckles and cheek redness, and of course the dreaded dark circles under my eyes. Sounds pretty, huh? :)

Anyway, hm hm, will the Buildable Cover Complexion Kit work for me without looking overly made up and still give me a fresh-looking face or is your opinion that it would be too cakey?

I need your expert help because I live 300 miles from the nearest Sephora and have to do it all online! I LOVE getting those boxes in the mail, though! I would love to hear from lots of different outlooks on this.

Thanks Gals! ~ Maggie

Hi Maggie! I would definitely order this product. It is not cakey at all. I always use the concealer and usually the white part of the sponge versus the dark side or the brush. The white is the medium coverage, the dark is the heavy and the brush is the lightest. That covers the best and it sets like powder and then it does soak into my skin a little but never looks bad at all.

Hi Maggie,
I also use bare essentials. I find that it is closer to the regular BE. I was not a fan of the matte BE and returned it. I find that this does last longer than BE. The concealer works great and the powder is quite light and natural looking. I have been applying BE mineral veil on top just because I love the look of it. I did not find that it set into lines and it did provide a nice natural finish with good coverage. Try it!
