Questions & Answers for Tarte MultiplEYE Lash Enhancer

Question
Bought item and has foul oder after 3 weeks
Ok, I am not sure what happened, but I was using the product yesterday, and it had a really really foul odor coming out from it. Seems like the liquid inside had gone bad? I have been using it for 2 weeks, and it was fine until last night. I went online to search for similar experiences and found none. I dont know if it was psychologically induced or not, but my eyes started to itch too after I applied it on my lases last night. I DO NOT remember the product having this odor when I first used it..... Any ideas?

Yeah. That happened to mine as well. I think it's expiring, it's best not to continue using it.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that product is used on CLEAN/ DRY skin only. This will ensure the integrity of the formula is maintained.

If not used on clean/ dry skin a harmless odor may occur however the effectiveness of the formula will still be intact.

Hi Multipleye users. Please remember to use this on a clean dry eye! If you have makeup on when you apply this could be the reason the smell comes about. If you use on a clean dry eye you shouldnt experience these problems

Mine also started having this foul odor after about 3 weeks. I was afraid to continue using it because it might have gone bad (?). I wonder if it is because this product is supposed to be all-natural so it doesn't have as many preservatives.

You are not crazy, mine began to smell after a month also. Mine smells so bad that I don't breathe through my nose when I apply. Not only that, the smell lingers. I don't know if I should return it or not because it does seem to work.

Same this is happening to me...for about 3 weeks, there was no odor at all, and now there is a distinct foul odor that is coming from the tube and I can even smell it from my eyelashes after I've applied it...I HAVE NOT had any irritation, burning or stinging, but there is DEFINITELY a change in the smell...I hope this doesn't mean the product has gone bad... =[

the same thing has happened to me. it really does have a foul odor and my eyes seem to sting for about an hour or so after i apply it. i thought this was normal since no one else seemed to complain about it. the product does seem to work though.
i am thinking of bringing it back to the store and see what they think.
has this helped you any?

Dear tarte product user,

We absolutely recommend purchasing a new MultiplEYE Lash Enhancer if you used this product during a time when your eye was infected. As with all products used on, in, or around the eye; sanitation is a priority. Products used on eyes should be replenished every few months to ensure the highest level of cleanliness.

I've had mine for 3 months and it just started to develop the smell. I always kept it in a cool place. I live in AK, so it's not to hard. I've turned the heaters on recently and I think that the warmer temp makes it smell. I would have thought that the age of it would make it smell, but I've read some reviews that complain of the smell for a week or two after purchase.

Hi, I don't "think" yours is bad because mine smells bad too and I've just bought it 2.5 weeks ago. I think the smell comes with the product as is. Mine still works bc the lashes are getting longer & thicker.

No, it is a natural peptide blend which is different than others out on the market that do change eye color.

It's all natural, so it doesn't have the harsh chemicals that latisse, lumigan and peter thomas roth's serums have that can cause darkening of the iris.

Question
Eye Infections or Burning???
I didn't read thru all the reviews, but the ones I did read that didn't give the product 4 stars or more usually said there was a slight burning sensation or some kind of eye infection developed. Have a lot of you experienced this or is it really just a few? I want longer lashes and am considering buying this product.

i've had this same tube since july 2009. i use only at night after taking off makeup and washing my face. no infections (knock wood!!) and no problems with my contact lenses. definitely a difference in lash length and even in fullness. i stopped for a bit and did see a decrease in lashes so will be ordering again when this tube is gone.

I do feel that this burns my eyes a little bit. Especially if I have had to slightly vigorously clean the area first. It doesn't burn forever, just until the product dries and then it also tends to get flaky and itch later. I usually put it on before bed and when I wake up it start to flake off and itch a little bit. It's a little irritating. Not sure if its worth it or not.

Dear tarte product user,

Apply to the lash line, on a CLEAN, DRY face, and prior to using ANY other products. For best results, wash your face, pat very dry, and apply before bed.

On the box, it is recommended to apply this on the lash line like you would when you draw an eyeliner.
However, I just applied it to the lash directly after eye cream and night cream and it worked really well for me. Even I can notice my thicker and longer lash!
