Questions & Answers for L'Occitane Ultra Rich Body Cream Rich in Shea Butter

Question
Can you use this on face?
Can you use this on your face? Is this one thicker than the facial version? I need a very heavy moisturizer and I don't know what to buy. I normally use Creme De La Mer.

I wouldn't put this on my face as it is super heavy. That being said, I really like Philosophy's Miracle Moisturizer. It is super restorative and you can wear it day and night. Good Luck!

Yes, you can use on your face. I use it all over my body. I even use it on my 3 year old daughter. At the end of the day, I can still smell it on her face. It is great. I love it and the fact that it is shea butter in it is a plus.

I actually tend to break out on my face if I'm not careful but am also flaky. When my face is really dry/flaky, I never hesitate to use any of the L'Occitane products on my face, even the hand cream. While it may seem a little heavy at first, it will quickly soak in and never makes me break out. I can't go through a winter without them!

I wouldn't advise using this for face, it would probably clog your pores. I would consider trying some of this brands face creams., you can go to their website and figure out which one is best for your skin type. The product's I've tried have really worked.

I imagine that you could as it is thicker than the face version. The formula however is different. Try it on your face it won't do any harm.

I use this on my face and it feels fine. It's not too thick and not too thin. I have the trouble of putting moisturizers or lotion on my face and then sweating profusely, but if I don't put anything on, as soon as I walk outside my face is white with dry skin. I still sweat with this product just because of how my body temperature is, but it's definitely one of better moisturizers I've used as far as feeling light and hydrated on my face.

Question
Ultra Rich vs Amande
Is this product like the L'Occitane Amande Body Creme but without any scent?

I love the scent of almond but want something very very hydrating. My skin has never been this dry before so I want something that truly works hardcore. No offense to Bliss Body Butter (I love the Blood Orange and White Pepper), but that isn't cutting it for me right now. I need more! Thanks!

I can't compare Amande with Ultra Rich but I have used Ultra Rich for several years and it is the best product I have used for dry skin, especially dry feet. Short of using 100% shea butter this is the next best thing and goes on a lot easier and costs less.

I like Bliss but when my skin is really dry I have found the L'O ultra rich cream to work the best. It has a very light to really no fragrance. It seems a little pricey but a little goes a long way so it lasts forever. I would not use this on my face but for the bod you cannot beat it!

It has a slight scent, but it is not strong at all. Nothing like the almond or Honey or Rose Butters that l'occitane carries.

This cream is not unscented. It has a light powdery scent similar to the face cream. It is very moisturizing. I've not found anything else that works as well for hands and body--especially in the winter.

This product is extremely hydrating and a little goes a longgggggggggggg way. I would not recommend wasting the product as an all over body lotion, but as a treat for dry, cracked hands and feet, this product is awesome! The scent is very light and clean smelling, not floral or lemony or anything like that.

No, this is different than Almond cream. It's more moisturizing and the effects last longer. Scent is not "fancy" as in other L'Occitane products, but if you're fan of that - you can search for "limited edition" scented pieces of this cream, I don't see them in this site, but if you have a store in your city...
Nevertheless - this cream is the best body cream you can find in the market. And for that price... Just go for it :-)

Expiration date?
Anyone know the shelf life for this product? I had been using it sparingly, since it's so expensive, but then I forgot I even had it until the other day.

If you look at the jar it will have a number and the letter M right next to the number. The number next to that will mean that it will expire within "x" months from the time you opened the jar. I hope that answered your question!

I think so. It's rich and creamy but not at all thick and sticky. It will absorb quickly. Not unlike the texture of a heavy neck cream.

This might be a tad heavy for a daytime neck cream and it does leave a bit of a sheen on the skin. It is very moisturizing but I think I would stick to a facial moisturizer for the neck area. If the skin is exceedingly dry you might try using it at night to see how it works for you.

Daily moderate use would probably last 2-3 months. My usage varies according to how dry my skin is. In the winter, it is about every 2 months. In the summer, it is more like every 4 months. Generally speaking, I think the jar lasts a reasonably long time for the quality and price of the product.

Not long enough, maybe a month. That's with sparing applications. (Hence why I buy the metal tube -- the "hand cream" -- and use that instead. It's cheaper by the ounce, and is thicker.)
