I agree with some of the other answers - you will still sweat for sure, but won't smell bad! I do find that when I'm going to do a pretty intense workout, it's best to reapply before hitting the gym. So, I like the smaller sizes to keep in my gym bag. Wish they made the smaller size in all of the scents!

This is a deodorant not an antiperspirant. Expect wet underarms that don't smell badly. I purchased the vanilla/lavender. It is very subtle and pleasant. It goes on very nicely, not sticky, no residue.

What I've noticed about this deodorant is that when you are sweating a lot the scent gets amplified so you don't smell like B.O but like the scent of the deodorant. I would recommend going into the store and smelling the different scents to find the one you like the most because that's what you will smell like. I went the gym the other day and did cardio for 45 mins and I didn't smell offensive afterwards.

I'm a paramedic and I work my tail off all day. It keeps me smelling decent. You will still feel wetness under your arms, but that is actually a good thing as sweating is your body's way of regulating temperature.

I have to reapply a fresh coat of this stuff when I get to the gym so I can be reassured that it will last through 2 hours of working out. So if you don't mind reapplying it for a workout then it should work just fine for you. It doesn't work as well as Secret or Dove did as I always have to do a quick little reapplication in the late afternoon if I want to go out later, but I'll take it over skin irritation and chemicals.

If you want to remain completely dry throughout a workout, this won't be your product. This is strictly a deodorant, not an anti-perspirant - so you *will* sweat while wearing it...but you won't smell so much.

If you don't mind getting damp, this product will make your sweat smell less gross. It works fairly well on hot, humid summer days, but does need to be re-applied sometimes. Because of this, I'd say it might not necessarily be the best bet for a workout unless 1) you're okay with a little sweat and 2) you're willing to re-apply either right before or after your workout.

Like an earlier reviewer said, most yellow underarm stains are caused by sweat combining with the chemicals in anti-perspirants. This is all-natural and shouldn't leave any stains as there aren't any chemicals for your sweat to mix with. I've been using this product for a while and none of my shirts are stained.

I believe that the yellow stains are due to perspiring/sweat and not the deodorant. If you perspire heavily, I don't believe that the deodorant will help too much since there is no anti-perspirant. You might have the yellow stains then.

Actually, discolorations in the underarm are of shirts are caused by sweat, not deodorant. Other than water, the other things in sweat like enzymes, fatty acids, bacteria, etc are what causes discoloration. So if you prevent the sweat you'll prevent the stains

I've used all but the coconut and the quality and effectiveness is the same for all. Just depends on what you like. I would recommend starting out with the Lavender until you have a chance to get to a Sephora to smell them. Most people don't like patchouli and the Pure Vanilla has patchouli in it. The grapefruit smells a little weird to some people and the coconut can be a little nauseating (it smells too sweet to me and coconut always reminds me of strippers...).

I purchased the Passion Fruit scent and originally thought it was fruity, but after wearing it for a month, it does remind me a little of my husband's deodorant. I would check them out in a store first though if you have one near you. I also recommend Jack Black's Pit Boss. My husband uses it and loves it. It's all natural, paraben-free, and smells like normal men's deodorant. Good luck in your search!

All the scents are bit girly. But I would recommend Pure Vanilla because it's the lightest scent and if he's wearing Cologne you probably won't smell it. Also, the scent does dissapate somewhat after a while. I recommend letting it dry completely before he puts on his clothes so they won't have the scent stained into his shirts.

He's going to smell girly no matter what because the scents are sweet or powdery although they will wear down and smell more subtly later. You might want to try Jack Black's natural deodorant or Biotherm's with the green lid and white body in the womens dept, that one is very subtle and aluminum- free and bad ingredient-free.

All of the scents I've tried smell more "girly" than masculine. You won't find that woodsy, spicy, cologne-like smell most men's deoderants come in. Perhaps the vanilla/coconut would be the most gender neutral. With that said, none of the scents are super strong, so even if he were to wear it, I doubt anyone beside himself (putting his nose to his armpit) would be able to smell it.

Clinical antiperspirants are very harsh products. They contain ingredients that actually cause your sweat glands to become plugged, thus stopping the wetness.

Perhaps you should try using a product that is exclusively a deodorant. As far as whether this particular product will work for you...only you can determine that.

It could be that you have a sensitivity to the aluminum in drugstore deodorants. Even the unscented or sensitive skin formulas will contain between 10 and 20% of aluminum compounds...which could be the reason you're itching.

My best recommendation would be to pick one of the Lavanila deos or try another natural brand to see if the itchiness subsides. Lavanila would be a good place to start, I think, because one of the best parts about Sephora is the great return policy! If you try it and don't like it, you can always return it to try something different (e.g. the Clinique deo stick if you don't have an aluminum sensitivity)...definitely can't say the same about returning a deodorant to the drugstore!

I also have easily irritated skin. Most deodorants don't make me itch, but some do. I've found that a natural deodorant by a company called Alvera and the Crystal performed better than this one and are about 1/3 of the price. I don't think any of them offer "long-lasting" results and none of them are as effective as anti-perspirants (which is what the drug store clinical versions are - very different from deodorants). When I had an itchy rash under my arms before, I used the roll on made by the Crystal and it worked well in terms of odor control. I had to use it more often than an anti-perspirant, but my rash cleared up without further irritation. Considering the price difference, I'd recommend that one over this any day of the week.

This product DOES NOT contain the following products :
parabens ( a synthetic estrogen that preserves many body care products)
sulfates ( a synthetic foaming agent)
synthetic dyes
petro-chemicals ( an oil derivative like propylene glycol)
phthalates ( derived from phthalic acid this chemical may disrupt the function of the endocrine systems)
aluminum ( which some studies show may cause aluminum deposits in the brain)
mineral oils

Again, the Lavanila Healthy Deodorant DOES NOT contain any of the products above. I would like to state that the words inside the "()" are what I believe to be true and does not reflect the opinion of Lavanila or Sephora. And not just using it after shaving - all of the time. For about an hour I'm in tears until it finally quits? Why would something that is supposed to be so gentle be so very, very cruel. I don't see myself purchasing this one again, in fact I see this being returned.

I would discontinue using it if it is causing you that much discomfort. It is not supposed to hurt!

It shouldn't sting since it is all natural and non irritating. Try to use it a few times after waiting a while after shaving, the raw skin from shaving ,ay be causing the burning.

I've been using this for a couple of weeks and have not had that reaction at all. It has been very calming in fact - and a great scent. Perhaps you might just be allergic?!

This has never caused any stinging upon application for me. Perhaps your razor is too rough? I am surprised this happened, but you never know you could be sensitive to something in it.

Maybe you're allergic to something in the deodorant. You can be allergic even to "natural" ingredients.

It sounds to me like you are experiencing an allergic reaction to the lavender or maybe even the vanilla in the product. Lavender definitely can cause an issue in some people, it can actually burn the skin. Have you ever had issues w/other products w/Vanilla or Lavender?

I would suggest you stop using the product. By the way, recently I read that while you shave, you actually can tear off 50% of the skin in your underarm. So we must be really careful what we use in this area.

Also, you might want to consider NOT shaving -- this is what a lot of European women do, and if it came down to shaving and staying healthy or shaving and having a severe burning sensation or other issues, guess what? I love myself enough to NOT shave.

Just something to consider.

I've never had any burning with this product. I find it extremely gentle. Absolutely no irritation- even after shaving. Maybe it's something else?

Perhaps you are allergic to tea tree oil? I know many people are and there is some in this. I really love it though, to bad...

Wow, sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulty with the product. I have the most sensitive skin imaginable and I have experienced pure delight with this product. It glides on smoothly and has a mind balancing scent that is simply amazing. It's possible since you shave and have not had laser hair removal, your underarms experience slight razor burn which is interfering with the product.
