Question
coloring with already treated hair
My natural hair clor is dirty blonde with lots of natural highlights. I recently colored it darker and now id like to go blonde again, but a few shades closer to platnim, sort of like scarlett johanson's hair in the movie He's Just Not that Into you. will the lightest shade of this product give me those results? Thanks so much!

I had dirty blond hair with a little red in it, and used 9N, which on the box is a pretty platinum-y blond. I wanted to be the color on the box. Well, I noticed NO difference whatsoever in my hair after using 9N. I have heard that the same goes for 10N, too, unless you already have VERY light blond hair. If you want to go that blond, I would say that your best bet is the salon! I think I will stick with the more caramel colored dyes that Fekkai does - those turn out great! The reds are nice, too, but don't last very long at ALL (most of the red hues come out in the first wash).

N usually refers to neutral tones - doesn't add brassy or golden highlights, but not as flat as ash. W means warm - golden, sometimes reddish tones. I always opt for N (color is more even and pure looking).

In my experience, "n" stands for neutral, which usually does translate to ash shades. "w" stands for warm. This really varies. It usually translates to the darker "blonde" shades. "g" stands for the golden shades.

Usually when you have at least an inch of new growth-and then ONLY on the new growth (unless you are coloring for the first time and ALL your hair is virgin.) You can pull the color through the entire length of the hair the last 3-5 mins of processing, but the more you do that the more damage you risk on your ends, etc. I try to only pull the color through my entire hair every other time i color to avoid having too much damage.

I have light brown hair that I have been highlighting for years. My hair will turn brassy if it is not lifted enough.

i have the same problem, my hair color is light brown. but i think because i really layered the dye on my roots and left it on for about 45 minutes it took to the hair well, its not brassy at all! i will have to take a picture and upload it.

I can only speak from a natural dark blonde prospective....it DID make mine drabby and didn't lift enough. I got the lightest blonde color and it just didn't cut it on the lifting side or the final outcome. I usually color and then highlight over that to get the dimension i want. This color left my hair a drabby tone and not enough lift or brightness. I can say that it left my hair in awesome condition and the product definitely has "salon" consistancy and smell. Wish the final outcome on the color was better.

Question
Is this a "safe" hair tint as far as not containing p-phenylenediamine and/or parabens, etc.?
I have contact dermatitis and patch tests showed I am allergic to p-phenylenediamine. I am in need of a hair tint that is free of this chemical.

I buy only paraben free shampoo, without sulfates. This is the closest coloring product to that, and if you removed the sulfates from all of your products, you would be perfect.
