answer 1
I apply it with a flat liner brush that has been dipped in water. I use it for tightlining and for my upper lash line.

answer 2
I actually used a sponge tip applicator and it worked well enough when I was already running late for work. But, I touched up a bit more after getting to work (Always keep a supply of makeup and tools at work) using a liner brush.

This product is a great liner. I use a flat, stiff brush...the bristles are approximately shy of 1/2 inch long and they lay side by side less than 1/2 inch long.
The trick is getting a brush with stiff bristles. If you pick one up that is not stiff enough, the bristles will bend on the surface of the product in the container and you wont have any to apply:
1. Take the brush and stamp it down gently (not on the sides of the bristles) on the product. Think of tapping out a cigarette. If the product is sitting on the counter, the brush should be completely straight up and down. If you need to you can come back and add more product to the brush by keeping the brush straight up and down but this time swiping it over the surface.
2. Keeping the brush head flat, start in the middle of your lid, and while pulling your lid taught with a finger from your other hand, keep the brush as close to your lash line as possible while 'stamping' the liner on your lid. The width of the brush head is the advantage here because it covers more surface. After drawing the product out to the corner (or beyond), re apply product to brush if needed, and starting at mid-lid, begin to draw to inner corner while tapering off and making the line thinner as you get closer to the inner corner. This adds a pretty contour to the shape of your eye.
Wipe the brush with a tissue to remove unused liner.
Use a qtip and smudge liner, if desired, for a smoky look.
