Questions & Answers for Kate Somerville Quench Hydrating Face Serum

Question
Can this product stand alone as a moisturizer?
I've read in Allure that during summer months people with oilier skin can usually go with a lighter moisturizer, or step down to just a serum. Would any of you oily skinned ladies recommend this product for that sort of use?

The Quench Hydrating Serum is moisturizing enough to be worn on its own. It may also depend on your skin type and condition. I suggest trying it both ways to see what works best for you.

Having just purchased this in November I can't speak about how it would work in the summer months. I have combination skin and try to find lightweight moisturizers with a high SPF. If not for under make-up in the summer I would absolutely use it at night.

I have combination skin, but throughout the day my skin gets oily especially through my t-zone area because of that I always felt that my skin never needed a moisturizer, but this serum is just perfect. It's almost like a make-up primer/light moisturizer. I absolutely love it and use it alone, and it's great b/c my makeup has SPF in it. Totally recommend!

I would NOT recommend this for oily skin. It really just adds a greasy layer to your face. Forget about going out in public after you've applied this. I had to rinse it off the first time I put it on, because I felt like I had just rubbed cooking oil all over my face!

This is light-weight but a powerhouse. Produces dewy and radiant skin - not slick or greasy. I believe you can use it alone, particuarly if you have oily skin. apply and let it soak in a little before applying makeup. enjoy!

My skin is combination and can be prone to oiliness in summer, and I adore this serum. It definitely can be used in place of moisturizer.

As the item contains a form of retinol we recommend using this as your nighttime moisturizer during the summer months. If any areas of your face are prone to dehydration, this item will be helpful in balancing the skin and maintaining the moisture barrier, as well as in fighting the signs of aging.

Just make sure to use an SPF daily as retinol makes the skin more photo-sensitive. Her Protect SPF 30 Sunscreen is lightweight with a natural matte finish (so it won't run during sweat inducing-activities) which would be perfect for your skin type.

You would use the Hydrating Serum in addition to your moisturizer. Apply the serum after you cleanse and follow with your daily moisturizer. Hope this helps!

I have very easily clogged pores, and can not use many things that have dimethicone in them. I use this every day and never have a break out or any congestion. It is very smooth but soaks right in and has no fragrance. If you pair it with Exfolikate, that would also really help. Exfolikate, when used on a regular basis, removes all the clogs and congestion your skin already has, and dissolves any that are forming.

Yes! With Quench you get a youthful glow without the oily residue that may cause breakouts. I have acne prone skin and I've used this product for over 6 months with no breakouts.

I see no reason why you can't boost your C and the serum by using them together. Use the serum sparingly; two drops is generally plenty for your face and neck.

I have used this product consistently with an evening retinol moisturizer and I have found no problems. In fact, sometimes I think my skin is in better shape now at 44 than in in my 30's because of all of these little miracles.
