Questions & Answers for Kate Somerville Clarifying Treatment Toner

Question
If I am already using the clarifying cleanser and anti-bac lotion will the toner make a difference?
I have combination skin that can be slightly sensitive, I already use the clarifying cleanser and anti-bac lotion and have seen great results. I'm thinking of buying the toner and from the reviews I'm hoping it will help clear scars. Just want to know if its worth it to add this to my regimen or if I should just stick to what I am already using.

I have been using it for over 2 weeks, I do not notice any difference in scars. I have recent acne scars that I am trying to get rid of. If combination, try just using it on your T-zone.

Question
excellent toner?
Does this toner help with oil reduction and does this exfoliate well? Because i'm using a toner now and i love it but it burns a lot.So i'm thinking of switching to something not as strong, but that will still help exfoliate my skin and help reduce my oily complexion.

Switch to this one. It is excellent, but does not burn. I used toners (in a different brand) that worked ok -- but burned a lot. This one works wonderfully, but doesn't burn at all.

I have a very oily T zone and since using this toner I have noticed less oil on my face. Other toners I have tried seemed to cause more oil later on my face but this one doesn't seem to do this. As far as exfoliation, I would say it helps but I use a small facial lufa sponge on my face so not sure which is doing the exfoliation. I have definitely noticed improvement with this toner and it does not burn my sensitive skin or over dry. Hope this helps.

If the toner you are currently using burns, then it probably has a lot of alcohol. This toner is made with Witch Hazel, therefore it's a lot milder and should not sting the skin. This has worked really well at cutting down on oil without over drying. I think it is work the try. At the very least you can ask for a sample in the store. I think it is worth the buy.

I had a problem with burning with other toners as well...I am on my second bottle of this toner and I have not experienced one negative reaction so i would definitely reccomend it. It still picks up dead skin cells and keeps skin clear.

I didn't really notice a decrease in oil production with this toner. It doesn't burn, but it gives your face a warm feeling. It also has a very odd dispensing method---you push the center down and the toner just squirts out. I usually just put a cotton ball on it, and let the toner absorb into that. I haven't been using it very long, but I'm happy with the results so far.

I have been using this product and have noticed a difference with my acne scars, but I have also used the Brazillian Peel system once a week in conjunction with Amore Pacific Enzyme peel, which is also used for getting ride of acne scarring. So I cannot say that this alone would rid you of old acne scars. You may want to try this in conjunction with a light peel. I would also recommend Ren's Peel...it is very gently and is made out of fruit enzymes which is great for sensitive skin.

I love this toner, but honestly, I haven't seen any improvement in acne scars. It does help prevent future acne, and it helps reduce redness and irritation from current acne. If you're looking to help treat past problems, try Exfolikate. I only sampled the regular--it was too harsh for my skin. But the gentle did help reduce acne and past scaring. Since the regular strength is even more potent, it should do the same.

I also used the detox cleanser and the anti-bac lotion. I was never really into toner, so after I finished the bottle that came with my 9!! kit, I decided not to buy more (needed to save some money). That's the only thng I changed in my skin care, and it really affected my skin -- I started getting more breakouts again. After a couple of months, I broke down and bought more toner. My skin cleared up, so I am now a big fan of this toner used with the Detox Daily Cleanser, Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion, and a nice oil-free moisturizer (I use kate's oil free one, or her goat's milk ot another brand).

I heard that tone balance out the PH levels in your skin. I like to use a tone but some people don't need it if you have oily or combination skin I think it is good to use. you could also use it once a week to detox your skin. but it is not something you need to use.

Whether or not you need a toner depends on what type of cleanser you use, what skin-type you have, and (I recently found out) what kind of water you have. Toners help remove any left over make-up or other particles after you've washed your face. If your skin's normal and you use a good cleanser that removes all makeup, etc. then you might be able to avoid a toner. (The detox cleanser is very thorough with removing dirt and oil.) If your skin is particularly dry or oily, then using an appropriate toner can help hydrate or clarify (respectively). Definitely, I would only recommend this toner for oily to combo skin.

I've been moving a in the last few years (because of work), and I noticed that the type of water I'm using also effects my need for a toner. Currently I have well water, which leaves a residue if I don't use toner. Previously, I lived in a historic building in Charleston, with ancient, rusty pipes, and the water there also left a film when I didn't use a toner.

Yes, but back off until it stops, it takes time for your skin to get used to it. Let it heal, don't over scrub..use it gently and let your face be the judge.

First aid beautycream is good at soothing, also try mixing it with a very gentle natural toner or hyaluronic acid serum. I use the HA serum to soothe and moisturize when I overdo it and get red. Squalene or Argan oil help too..you don't want the red to get dry or it's worse. These oils don't encourage acne.

The clickr spray is great too but also a little hard on skin.

I would have to say no, since this product does not contain and alcohol or fragrance. Witch Hazel is a natural astringent which does not leave you with any burning or tingling affect. You may have had a counter effect based upon the cleaner you used prior to this Toner.

It is definitely normal to see a little bit a redness after using. This is because you use toner after cleansing your face, which is too clean and raw. Therefore, your skin will show a minor reaction.

IF the redness stays on too long, then this product is probably not capable for your skin. This should be a rare case, but things happen.

adding the toner to the KS acne skin health pyramid regimen
is it okay to use this before the daily cleanser and after the anti bac clearing lotion, then follow up with the oil free moisturizer? because i have really really oily skin and i want to know if adding this to the Kate Somerville acne skin regimen will help control the oil production or if it will just be pushing it overboard and make me produce more oil.

I have combo/oily acne prone skin and I use the detox daily wash (AM/PM) follow with this toner (AM/PM). In the morning I use the total vitamin and oil free moisturizer plus KS sunscreen and at night I use the anit bac lotion with the goats milk cream all after I tone. My skin isn’t really oil (just tzone really) but I have noticed that it’s not as oily as before. The toner has witch hazel in it which will help to control oil production

Also another product you may want to try at nighttime before your anti bac is the Purifying Concentrate by Caudalie. It’s like healthy oils for your skin and honestly I didn’t believe this until I tried it but if you put these essential oils on your skin your skin produces less oil cause its more balanced. I used it only a few nights a week and my skin is a lot less oily then before. I notice the difference when I stop using it, my skin gets oiler again.

Hope that helps!

You should be able to add this to your regime with no problems. The toner is gentle and nondrying. One thing, though--you should use the cleanser first, then follow with the clarifying toner, the anti-bac lotion, and the oil free lotion. The toner works by removing any makeup or other residue that's left behind from cleaning.
