Yes it does immediately. I would never switch this cleanser for another it is top of the line.

but phytic acid is similar to a lactic acid or glycolic acid, in that it helps aid the exfoliation process.
so yes technically phytic acid should help the scars.

but you should also be exfoliating using a more intense exfoliant 2x a week.
and i like to use a vitamin C serum - vitamin C inhibits pigmentation, promotes elastin and the synthesis of collagen.

and lastly you need to wear sunscreen 365 days a year to prevent any more damage, and also to make sure you dont lose any hard work - the sun is not forgiving

I have dark spots from previous acne scars & since I've been using the Detox Daily Cleanser I'm noticing those old marks starting to fade away & my current blemishes clearing up faster.

Cleansers stay on your face for 15-20 seconds, although this detox cleanser may make your face smoother and brighter, you have to use whitening/brightening serums or treatments to fade acne scars in conjunction with the right cleanser and toners. I think of my detox cleaner as a way to prevent new break outs, which means less scars in the future but not solely as a treatment for lightening scars. Hope that helps!

My husband has been using this and he has very sensitive and light skin. Any pimple he gets turns into a scar, we have seriously noticed his skin getting so much better and his scars starting to fade away. It probably does help that we use the whole 9!! line, that is probably the better option if you are starting out.

I think it definitely helps to control it, but if you are really looking to treat pigmentation, then you should be using something else in addition to the face wash specifically for hyperpigmentation.

My Kate Somerville consultant recommended this product to help lighten sun damage & the occasional blemish. A $1,000 & several months later I do not see ANY improvement in the fading of the sun damage. This is also used in conjunction with other things to aid in their fading. I was not expecting miracles, but I did expect to see slight improvement. There has been no discernible improvement, even by the KS consultant when I went back for a re-evaluation. If it hasn't helped at all with fading of the sun damage I don't think it will help with the scaring.

It hasn't gotten rid of my scars, but they are definitely lighter than they were 3 months ago when I started using this cleanser. I would take a chance and buy it! You never know!

It's pretty strongly scented, but it smells like it's main ingredient: tea tree oil. It's neither a masculine or feminine scent and sort of reminds me of eucalyptus. I don't know if that helps.

Seems citrusy. Not girly in the least bit. If my hubby used this, I don't think it would smell bad at all.

I use a soap free-cleanser and eye makeup remover for mascara and eyeliner. Since this has salicylic acid in it, better safe than sorry.

Probably just heavy eye makeup, as you wouldn't want to get this stuff in your eyes. Otherwise, it always removed my foundation and blush really well and left me feeling clean, but not over-dried.

I have to use something separate to remove eye makeup. Otherwise, it works just fine when removing makeup.

Always, always, always remove makeup. Use Clinique's Take Off the Day Cleansing Milk. I think it helps the effectiveness of any cleanser if makeup is removed prior to application of cleanser.

I would remove make-up first but apply a moisturizer right after you use it. It can be very drying.

Yes. This cleanser is not a makeup remover, and will work best when there is no barrier (makeup) to your skin. I use a gentle oil-based makeup remover before I use this cleanser. You could also try any generic makeup remover wipes from the drugstore.

It will help with the blackheads, but I'm not sure about the redness. I'm using the entire clarifying system (toner, lotion, mask, and Eradikate when necessary). That, all together, does help with redness.

For your blackheads, you HAVE to try Kate Sommerville's acne exfoliating treatment. It's in a white tube with light blue print. I left it on my skin for 2 minutes, then cleaned it off with my Clarisonic, and afterward, I had almost NO blackheads left! However, I think it was partly from the exfoliator and partly from the Clarisonic. If you have problems with blackheads, you really need to get yourself a Clarisonic.

I use this every night with my Clarisonic Brush and it has dramatically improved blackheads and breakouts! It's still gentle enough that it won't strip the skin, too.

For those who suffer from blackheads, especially on the nose area. This cleanser will not help eliminate them. However, this cleanser will strip and detoxify your face from all the oils and toxins. Safely and daily! I suggest use Kate Somerville's Mask for that type of issue. Hope this helps! ;)

It definitely helps to clean the skin well, but you may also want to use ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating treatment to really battle blackheads and redness.

To combat redness I would use a product meant specifically for that issue. This cleanser may be too drying if your skin is prone to redness, you may need something that is more gentle and not meant for acne-prone skin. Clinique makes a good redness-reducing line.

I have normal skin & occasionally experienced an occasional blemish, until I started using KS products. The Detox Cleanser I was prescribed made my skin too dry. I only spot use it when I do experience a blemish & it seems to quickly take care of the problem.

If you have blackheads, try "Joey New York" product that disolves blackheads. You put it on and wait 60 seconds and rub them off. It is amazing. For redness, I cannot say a cleanser will help that but this cleanser will definately clean your face and is mild. There are a lot of products out there (i.e., make-up, etc.) that help with redness. You can call a beauty consultant for help with the redness issue.

It might help with the redness because it is very gentle, but I'm not sure about blackheads.

I think this would work well for you. It doesn't over-dry your face. It isn't harsh (I've tried similar face washes in different brands that burn. Those were not good). This cleanses without burning or over-stripping your face. A small amount goes a long way.

Try using it with the Clarisonic, I also have combination skin and feel this cleanser is the best I've used. Another thing you can do is try her anti-aging line and use it with this.

Yes! I am 36 with aging, but acne prone skin. My skin usually tends towards dryness, but can get oily in the T-zone occasionally. This cleanser is amazing - it's both effective and gentle. I never rave about cleansers, but this one really is worth the $.

This product is formulated to help acne prone skin, at any age! I'd suggest use this wash twice a day and at night pair up with Kate Somerville's EradiKate Acne Treatment ($22 a bottle). It is Sulfur sediment and you apply directly to the spots. By the morning blemishes should be dried, leaving no scars. Hope my answer helps! ;)

It really works to not overdry the skin, but if your skin feels very sensitive, you may want to try the Gentle Daily Wash by Kate Somerville. This is not a harsh scrub or cleanser, so I don't think it would overdry your skin since you are concerned about aging.

I think so, from a 43 yr-old with combo skin normal - dry. It is too drying for me to use as prescribed (Gentle Cleanser AM / Detox Cleanser PM along w/ lots of other treatments & moisturizers), but should be perfect for a more oily skin type. Although, I have to say, after spending quite a bit of $ and having consultations with the KS consultants I am thoroughly unimpressed with their products. They aren't bad, they just do not deliver with what they are supposed to.

I'm 33 and tend to get at least one boil-like pimple on my chin at "that time of the month." I think this product helps keep the size and duration to a minumum, but I also suggest the KS Anti-Bac lotion as a spot treatment. Anti-Bac is drying so I use it sparingly. I recently added the KS Exfolikate to my regimen and really think it's made a huge difference in my skin. It's pricey, but you only use a dime size amount or less, 2x per week, so it lasts.

I had a stubborn pimple and it seemed to respond in just 2 days. I can't say I have had the same results with other products.

Within a few days my skin clears up and as long as I keep using it regulary it works esp with the other stuff thats in the same combination line.

There's no definite answer to how quickly you'll see results. There's a lot of other factors that can determine this, i.e., the serverity of your acne, other skincare and makeup products you're using, etc. I would say that any skincare item requires at least of month of consistent use before you can determine any results. You could always ask for a sample from any sephora store and see how your skin reacts. They won't give you a month's worth of product, but it can at least give you an idea of how the cleanser will work.

I would say about a good 3 or 4 months depending how much product you like to use. Me and my husband both used one and it lasted us about 2 months. Consider that this doesn't cost much compared to other cleansers and this one truly works!

This formula is thick and lathers well. You only need to use a tiny bit. I haven't finished my tube, but I can tell it will last a really long time. Longer than most cleansers of this size. I think it's a good value, both because it will last a long time and because it's a high quality product.

If, you use this twice a day and about a quarter size of a drop. Should last 2 1/2 months tops. I definitely recommend this as a face wash not a makeup remover!

You don't need a ton of product, so it lasted me well over a month. Just be sure not to squeeze too much when you twist open the tube. It foams nicely, so just add a bit of water and really get it foaming to make it last long.

Its been my experience that any new product that is to work will break you out for it to get the bacteria/impurities out completly. Always when trying a new product, use for 2-3 weeks to see if it clears your skin. That is generally enough time to see what it has pulled out and if it works for you.

Yes. A few of my clients pair this cleanser up with the Clarisonic Brush. However, I do not use a brush. Because, it is not really necessary to! Point is, you must sterilize and disinfect your face brush EVERY DAY. Or else, bacteria and germs will live on the bristles. If, you do need to use a brush, I recommend disinfecting it with alcohol before and after every use. Hope this helps! ;)

It should remove your make up, but I would recomend you removing you makeup before hand with a towellete or something like that. I always use it after I remove my makeup in the shower with a clarisonic and feel it is the best cleanser I've used!

Based on my personal experience, NO. I use a good amount of makeup and this cleanser did not help that much. I ended up using 3 big drops to get the job done. HOWEVER, I do use this as my regular face wash and it is GREAT!!!! It leaves my skin refreshed, rejuvenated and squeaky clean. I cannot live without this.

This product truly is effective at removing makeup. I wear a ton of makeup and often times, I don't even need to wash my face a second time, but I do just because I like the feeling of washing twice.

i let it sit for a minute before rinsing and it gently removes my revlon colorstay foundation no problem
