It made me break out quite badly. On the plus side, I returned it to the BE store and they were incredibly, incredibly nice. (In Denver, go to Cherry Creek, -not- 16th Street, where they are not nice.)

This product does not contain oil or cornstarch, the two most common ingredients in products like this which would make one breakout. I have no idea what the person above was talking about, since talc doesn't cause acne and "chemicals" is too vague a category to link to breakouts.

The main sunscreen ingredient (which, of course, is a chemical) is occlusive, and in large doses can clog skin. You're going to have this effect in any good sun screen, but it is worth the trade-off for the sun damage caused without them. However, the amount and means of application do not appear to contribute to my own acne, as I have not noticed any outbreaks where I apply it the most frequently.

You should be fine for breakouts with this, as it's part of the Bare Escentual line (which is known for being natural and doesn't have talc/chemicals in it). It has got to be better than your skin than most sunscreens, so would think it'd be safe... but if not, you could always return it.

Don't have problems with acne but I do have sensitive skin and have had no problems at all with BE. The only issue I have is that it is a bit drying and I find that using a good moisturizer 10 to 15 minutes before applying BE products solves that problem yet the BE makeup still stays in place for hours.

I have very sensitive skin, and have had no breakouts from using this. I surely would if I used the usual sunscreen lotions.

I have acne issues, which is just why I was so excited to see this product. It didn't make me break out, but it was impossible to tell if the product was actually coming out of the container or not. I've switched to After Glow, a mineral based foundation with sunscreen, and I'm much happier.

Yes, you certainly could use this instead of foundation--that's what I'm planning to do for vacation. However, be careful not to use too much; it did seem to have a little "orange" tint when applied too heavily.

It is a little too light to use if you need heavy coverage. If you just need something like the mineral veil, it would be perfect!

The amount of powder that comes out of my brush is a very small concentrated amount. Perhaps there is a trick for even distribution...maybe mine is not resentative of the "norm". The powder itself is light and seems to offer coverage. If I didn't have problems with the brush, I'd say it could definitely be used as foundation.

I wear it all by itself all the time. If I happen to have a blemish or some dark circles I will add my regular Bare Minerals. If you like a natural sheer look this works great-kinda just smooths everything out!

Either way will be fine, as both are powders. You can carry this brush with you and just cover the shine or add more sun protection during the day.

WAY better! My main complaint w/ the PTR was the packaging. There is no locking mechanism on the PTR so powder constantly spilled out of the brush and into the cap, which then leaked into my makeup bag. I always felt like I was losing a ton of product. I threw the PTR away it bugged me so much. The feel of both products is similar, I think the PTR is a bit grainier as someone else mentioned. Plus the brush was very cheap and felt rough on my skin. The BE brush is much softer, making it easier and softer to apply. Plus the mechanism locks so NO spillage. For the price, this is a much better option in my opinion.

yes it is. the PTR is attractive b/c it does not have color but the minerals seem to be very grainy and feels like it is not settling into your face. BM's SPF Natural Sunscreen's minerals are smaller and it blends very nicely. It has sheer coverage too.

Question
How does this compare to Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder SPF 45? PLEASE HELP!
I'm looking for an easy on-the-go non-greasy/sticky sunscreen for my easily-burning skin, especially my face. I found the Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder SPF 45 for $30 and then there's this one for $28. They look about the same. Which one should I buy? Please help!!!

I purchased this BE product not only for the sunscreen, but mainly as a way to carry around powder that would be non-messy. The bonus is that it is easy to transport, is not greasy, covers the "shine" I get by midday, and because I bought the Light tone, I will be able to use this year round. I have no idea about the other product you are considering, but as far as this one goes, I think you would be pleasantly surprised.

I love the bare escentuals. It works great for everything, except activities where you really sweat or the pool. The tint also doesn't transfer. I don't know how... but it really works for me and its so fast.

Question
Does the color change throughout the day?
I have found that some foundations change color throughout the day, particularly when sebum builds up in my T-zone. Because this is a natural sunscreen with sheer pigment, I am hoping that the color will stay consistent, especially since I would be re-applying it several times. I don't need much coverage, so I would use it over a mineral primer like the one by Hourglass, but I don't want to purchase something that will change colors. Also, is the light shade appropriate for fair skin tones? Some reviews mention the product having a slight orange tint, and my skin has pink and yellow undertones. I know that I am asking a lot of questions, so thanks in advance for even reading this! =)

I have used the Natural Sunscreen over the Bare Escentuals foundation and by itself. I haven't noticed any particular color change. The tint is sheer. I use the medium, so I can't tell you about the light color. However, I have medium fair skin and find the Bare Escentuals products in light to be too light for me.

This product does not change color. I have a fair skin tone too and it works out perfectly. It's almost sheer so that your natural skin shines through! It's the best, plus it has SUNSCREEN!

Check out my review...don't waste your money. This product is good in theory but they really need to send it back to R&D. However, to answer your question- the powder in this product was darker than the "same" powder in my Bare Minerals jars so a medium beige in this would probably be close to a shade darker. Having said that, if you plan to tan your face (fake or otherwise), I would stick with medium beige. If not, I would go one shade lighter than medium beige. Hope that helps!

Question
Is the Light shade yellowish like light BE foundation?
I wear Fair in BE foundation and absolutely cannot wear the foundations with even the slightest yellowish tint. Fairly light makes me look jaundiced. So is the light called that because it's the lightest of the three, or is it "golden" like the foundation? TIA

I wear a medium now that I am older. When I was younger, I used a fair hue. The medium is OK--but it does look powdery on my the top of my hands, where I apply it to protect them as I drive the car. I have a feeling it may also dust off onto clothes as well.
