Questions & Answers for Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara

Question
Is this a tubing mascara?
I like the blinc mascara because it tubes and never smudges or flakes and comes off with water, but it's quite expensive. Does this do the same for a better price? Thanks.

It doesn't tube, but I will say that I have never had a problem with it smudging EVER, and it doesn't flake off until I wash my face. I have always had the worst trouble with raccoon eyes with other mascaras always smudging on me, but this one is perfect all day. Works for me, anyway, and the price is definitely right!

Yes, it is a tubing type mascara and stays put. The only drawback is that it stays put a little too well - you really need to use warm water and essentially pull the mascara "tubes" off your eyelashes. Once you get the hang of it, it is fine and worth it and it hasn't damaged my eyelashes - just makes a mess in the sink and takes an extra minute or 2.

This is a tubing mascara and is very reasonable in price. It doesn't smudge and comes off easily with warm water and a little make up remover or mild soap.

Don't think this is a tubing mascara. I do know it definitely flakes and is very difficult to get off with just soap and water.

Not sure if they necessarily say that this is tubing mascara, but it does work very similarly and when I do wash it off, I simply wet my lashes - wait a minute or two - and gently pull the mascara off of my lashes. It never smudges and looks great all day.

Question
Does this mascara curl as promised?
Does this product curl lashes and keep them curled until it is washed off? I am searching for a mascara that curls, thickens, is waterproof and does not smudge. Any suggestions?

This mascara has a formula that is a bit too wet, so it doesn't hold a curl. In fact, it brings the curl you made with your eyelash curler down. You can curl your lashes AFTER you apply the mascara, but it looks messy, clumpy, and it is damaging to your lashes.

answer 2
I believe this mascara really fits the bill! However, I do use a lash curler and the mascara does hold the curl that the lash curler sets. If you use the appropriate type of curler, you can also alternatively apply the mascara, let it dry and then use the lash curler...it holds until you wash it off. Either way, it has never let me down!

Yes. I have long lashes that, believe it or not, annoy my by rubbing against my glasses and leaving marks on them. No problems here! Not a single mark!

Definitely a good curling mascara. When you use it though, you have to be sure to get to the very base of your lashes, where your eyelid starts, with the wand (you can always dip a qtip in makeup remover to remove any you get on your eyelid) and go from there so that you get the most curl possible. While it's not completely water proof (ie dont dive into a hottub with it on), it does last through humidity, sweat, tears, rain and heat.

I suggest you don't buy this. It is probably the worst mascara I have ever tried at Sephora. It will hold up a curl if you curl your lashes but it clumps your lashes together and leaves them super stiff. Not good. Tarte's Lights, Camera Lashes mascara is curling, lenthening, volumizing, and defining. You should try that one instead.

Usually just washing my face gets most of it, but I always put some cold cream like liquid Olay on a tissue and wipe across my eye areas. You'd be surprised what comes off that soap misses.

I don't find I have to tug at all. I use a cotton pad, saturate with hot water, and the hold to my eyes for about 30 seconds. The mascara just slides right off.

answer 5
I use an oil based make up remover, and let it work while I brush my teeth or floss etc. Then I rinse with warm water - no tugging needed.
I'm not keen on having oil residue on my skin, so I use cleansing water to get every last dirt off my face. Works like a charm :o)

Water is the only way but you don't need to tug..you will injure your eyelashes. When you're in the shower, give it like, 30 seconds to 1 minute, run your face under the warm water and then gently press on the lashes and the stuff slides right off.

I don't know if you try to remove your mascara in the shower or not but that's where I do it and I've never had a problem removing it with just water. I use eye makeup remover to remove the leftover and eyeshadow but if you don't remove in the shower, maybe you just need to have them be more wet?

I use Bioderma makeup remover or Ursa Major face cleanser. Any gentle foaming cleanser should work. Try to work the cleanser through your lashes and massage it in for 20 seconds. It should rinse right out.

I use Loreal's go 360 clean cleanser to wash my face, including my eyes. Typically after using the little scrubby (comes with this cleanser) on my face, I put a little more on my fingertips and gently scrub at my eyes, tightly closed of course! It comes off just fine. If I use a lot of mascara, I sometimes get some globs because this mascara is gel-like; however, I just gently wipe with my damp towel and it's no problem. I should also mention that I wear contacts and have never had an issue with this routine. Good luck!

I have not found an eye make up remover that will take this off. I've never had to tug the mascar off so maybe you are not using warm enough water. However, if this is bothersome for you I'd think you might be better off with another Clinique mascara. I'm pretty sure this is the only line that has this formula and specific removal technique.
Hope this helped! :)

Question
Compare with Clinique Lash Power Long-Wearing?
How does High Impact Curling Mascara compare with Lash Power Long-Wearing Mascara? I love everything about Lash Power (never smudges, clumps, flakes or irritates my sensitive, contact lens-wearing, often watery eyes with oily eyelids) except that it is not dramatically volumizing or lengthening. Does High Impact Curling add volume & length while also being non-irritating and non-smudging?

I have tried both, and high impact curling mascara definitely is more thickening. I prefer it because it does provide a thicker lash.

Yes, this product is similar. I find it to be a bit dryer and clump a bit more (especially after a month or two), but overall i like it better because it does pump up the volume and add a bit of curl, which is nice.

For length, an emphatic YES!!!
For volume i am not sure. For me it is enough, but for you it may not be.
It does not smuge or irritate though.
That is why I got it because I too have problems with my eyes such as you discribed.

I think the curling mascara does a better job of volume and length than the 24 one. I have the 24 one and it's good for defining the lashes and separating them. But that's it.

I love this mascara and think it does everything you asked about and more. However, about eye irritation.... I've used this mascara for years and it's only irritated my eyes on two occasions & I truly think both were my fault. This mascara really does not smudge and can stay on for days!!! Both times it flaked into my eyes was when I put it on while on 1. A camping vacay (don't know why I wore mascar camping!?) 2. A beach vacay. Both times I did not remove the mascara properly and had the mascara on for about 2 days in a row. When I went to scratch or touch my eyes the mascara started to flake and really irritated my eye. Having said that, for the other gazillion times I used this and properly removed it (with VERY warm water not eye make up remover!!!!) and not left it on for days I've had no problems. Hope this helps!

Question
Is this really smudgeproof?
I have oily eyes and no double-lid on my right eye, so my lashes are much closer to my skin than for most. Also, if I curl before applying the mascara, does it hold the curl well? Can the mascara look natural? Thanks!

I have a terrible problem with mascara transferring, but this has worked well for me because the formula dries quickly, so I don't end up with eyelash marks on my cheeks or eyelids. I don't curl my eyelashes so I don't know how it would hold curl.
