I have good success getting fat pencils to a good point with this sharpener, although they will never be as pointy as a small pencil.

It doesn't seem to have a mechanism to prevent "pointy". I don't want pointy for my purpose, the EyeBright pencil by Benefit. IThis sharpener took off wood and wasted very little product, and left me the blunter point I was looking for. If you kept turning the pencil in the sharpener you probably would get a point.

Yep - you can sharpen fat pencils with this one. It does sharpen to a nice point because there is no plastic constraining the tip. Makes it easier to clean too!

This is a great pencil sharpener - every eye liner and lip liner I have used fits easily into the smaller hole and the sharpener is indeed very sharp. I use UD 24/7 eye liners almost exclusively. :)

I was told that the blades were really sharp. I have noticed that it works really well, and my liners are all very pointy and I feel like I don't have to waste too much of my pencils to do so. I think it's worth the $5.00.

I've normally bought the cheapest sharpeners and after 1-2 uses, they kinda go to heck. I just bought this one and it's working great - my question is, any maintenance tips (how to keep it clean etc, how long does the blade typically last)?

So far, I've been using it for a few months, and really I just open it, then dump the shavings in the trash can, it's very simple, you CAN rub some of the excess of the plastic if you use an oily Kohl liner like me, but otherwise great. I've used it at least 20 times, and the blade has not run out on me yet, but they seem like a strong blade.

I just wipe mine down with a make-up remover towelette. You could also just use eye make-up remover and a cotton pad.

I have sharpened the MUFE aqua crayons which are just as large as the Sephora ones. I haven't used a Spehora crayon so I can't 100% say yes but I'd say buy this because if it sharpens those jumbo MUFE crayons, it will sharpen anything...
