I was in the Sephora store just today, Jan 18, 2010, and a saleslady applied this liquid foundation to my face. The pump fell apart and pieces of it scattered across the floor! She put it back together and it seemed to work though. I just bought the makeup today so I hope the pump doesnt go out. But even if it does, can't you just pour some out? cheers!

That's weird I only use 1 to 2 pumps, about a pea size and a half, to cover my whole face. I find stippling liquid foundation on instead of using a foundation brushes uses less product and makes it easier to apply thin layers. I use the bare minimal on each layer I put on my face and it evens out my skintone on my entire face

answer 3
I really don't think 1 or 2 pumps will work for the whole face. I seem to need more of this to cover my face than the usual foundation. Plus, the pump is tricky, it doesn't always pump out the same amount each time. I'd say it takes 3 or 4 pumps. At that rate, the product will probably last you two months I'd say, if you used it once a day.

I woudn't recommend this foundation on any skin. It caused me to get a rash, so I would imagine if I had acne prone skin it would create disaster.

Dear tarte product user,

You mention that you have pink undertones. In this case, try Porcelain if your skin is very light, as in almost translucent. If you are light with pink undertones, try Cool Bisque.

The Tarte foundation is not oily at all. I think it runs a little dark, I went up a shade. I am usually a bisque, and I went up to an ivory. But this is a very good coverage foundation, without being too thick, and making you feeling like you have THICK make up on! The finish is kind of like a satin. It dosen't clog the pores, as far as myself goes. I feel like the products going into this are of pretty high quality. I think in this price range it is awesome.

I had a difficult time choosing my color, too. The Sephora rep recommended that I dab a little on my hand alongside a dab from the current foundation I was using. I was surprised at how different the shades were from just comparing them outside the bottle to the actual shade next to each other. Good luck.

I'm fair-medium and Porcelain 00 worked best for me. The lightest may not be light enough for you or it may be perfect, depending on how fair you are. I'm sure Ivory 01 will be too dark.

I'd start with the lightest one. (It's the one I use) If that's not right, go a little darker. If you can't get to a Sephora store, just send back what doesn't work. Sephora's return policy is excellent. Hope this helps.

Question
Anyone else have a problem with product seperating?
I know this is a natural product, but I am having a serious problem with my foundation not being emulsified. I've used it four times, I use less than one full pump for my entire face, but I'm finding myself having to shake it vigorously and waste a good three to four pumps every time I use it just to get a smooth, consistent product. I love this foundation, but I've already gone through a 1/2 of my bottle and it is too expensive to waste THAT much product for four applications.
Anyone else have the same issue or know how to fix this?

It's water-based so it's supposed to separate. Once you apply it to your skin and blend the product, it blends together seamlessly with no separating.

Step 1: pump the product onto the back of your hand
Step 2: swirl the product in circles to blend
Step 3: apply to face with HD brush, foundation brush, fingers or sponge.

I have not had any problems with my foundation seperating and I have been using it daily for 2.5 weeks. In regard to the cost, I like a sheer daytime coverage and I have found that if I put just one drop of water on my brush before putting my foundation on the brush, it goes on very smooth and I tend to use less.

Question
Does the bottle look part-used when first bought?
While at the store, this was the only bottle left in my color, Beige 08. I bought it because it's also sold out online. When I got back though, I noticed the box was a little worn and product wasn't covering all of the bottle which led me to think that make this product had been used a lot before I bought it. Can someone tell me if the bottle should look like this when first bought?

Sorry the pictures are kinda hard to see but you can tell that there are parts of the bottle clearly not covered in foundation leading me to think that it's not completely full, hence half used.

It's due to the product separating because it is a water-based foundation that blends when you apply it to your face. The water and the makeup have to blend. Try it on your hand you will see. It is completely normal.

The best way to check if a product with a pump has been used is to check the hole in the pump, if there seems to be makeup in the hole, then it's been used. I see no problem in the packaging being damaged provided the actual product looks unused since you will be throwing the box away anyway.

I suggest you try Ivory 02.
The foundation is more yellow than pink, and it is darker than you might expect.
If your skin is truely fair, warm bisque may be too dark.
My skin is fair (not red-head freckle fair) & the Ivory is almost too dark for me.
