It does lift and separate but is difficult to use because it simply is straight. I didn't get the lengthening effect that I was anticipating.

Is effect with this mascara same as original badgal lash?
I tried a badgal lash sample and loved it's thickening effect. I loved you could layer it to create a false lash look. The problem is it feathered and gave me raccoon eyes. Does the waterproof version give the same effect? I've heard a lot about the different brush. Does it make a difference in the effect it creates? Does the waterproof version smudge?

I haven't had any trouble with smudging or clumping. It really does what it says it will do.

Is the "look" of the lashes different using this instead of the original?
i was happy to see benefit came out with a waterproof version b/c the original gave nice results but it would smudge easily. :( However... benefit you should have kept the big brush and everything! im pretty sure it would change the result now that it has a skinny brush. am i right?

I use both Bad Gal lash and the Bad Gal Waterproof. They both give you those dark long plump looking lashes. The great thing about the wand in the waterproof is that it allows you to have more precision. You can apply one coat for natural dark lashes or multiple for that false lash look!

The tube is long and thin and the brush is not as thick as the regular mascara.

Badgal Waterproof Mascara
Is this the same thing as the Badgal LASH mascara, just in waterproof version? Because i tried the Bdagal LASH and it was AMAZING. But I need it in waterproof, and i'm not sure if this Badgal waterproof is the exact same as the badgal LASH , just waterproof.

I feel the same as you that Bad Gal mascara (original) is awesome! But this version of Bad Gal (waterproof), in my opinion, was not worth the money or time. I returned it ASAP. I use Blinc's Kiss Me mascara. It doesn't flake, it's very water-resistant (waterproof formulas are harsh), and it comes off gently with warm water (without makeup remover)! Hope this helps!

Longlasting?
I tried the BADgal mascara, but that gives me 'blackened eyes' after a couple of hours of wear. Does this one wear off that quickly too?

I find this one has much better staying power than the original. I have worn it all day and then through an evening workout with barely a smudge.
