You should clean it after each use to prevent stains and keep bacteria from growing inside of it.

After every use. I know it sounds excessive but bacteria will grow on it if it's not properly cleaned.

answer 3
Depending on how often you use it it should be cleaned regularly. If you are using it every day of the week for example I'd clean it every weekend to keep the sponge from getting too much build up. From personal use I've learned this sponge absorbs a lot of the foundation when your applying it so for best results clean it often to keep it looking and working like new.

I clean mine every day, after every use. It's really easy to do, and literally takes 2 seconds. It's easiest to clean when the foundation is still fresh. Really, it's super easy, there is no trouble at all.

I think it is a good idea to wash it daily, after each use. Otherwise your foundation will be really hard to get out of the sponge and bacteria might grow. I find that it is pretty easy to just wet the sponge, use it, and wash it before putting it away. It doesn't take long at all and I just use a drop of the cleanser each time.

It gets dirty after each use. I clean mine about twice or three times a week. Since I'm the only person using it. Of course, if a professional, it would need to be cleaned after each use.

They both do a great job and it's really preference based. I prefer the liquid because it lasts a lot longer and I find it to be easy to use.

I personally love the liquid cleanser. The solid seemed to vanish in a blink of an eye and it deteriorated my beauty blender after constant use. The liquid extended the life of my beauty blender, the soap lasts longer, and it got rid of all the staining :)

The solid is so much better in getting stains out and I don't wash my blender every day because it wears it out faster but i do rinse it out everyday and even then the liquid would not get out my foundation and concealer stains until I tried the solid

you can use any brush cleanser, dish soap, or mild soap, however I have tried many and this one breaks up the makeup in the Beauty Blender the best. It also works great on brushes.

You really need this. I have used other cleansers but they do not remove the amount of makeup that this cleanser does. In fact, if you take another cleanser and clean your blender, then immediately use this cleanser afterward, you will see all of the makeup the alternate cleanser did not remove. This is a must have for all makeup sponges/brushes.

Well, I've used (in a pinch) the regular Blue Dawn Dish Soap. I normally just use it to clean my regular brushes but it works well with the beauty blender too! I wouldn't suggest making a DIY cleanser though. But yes, Blue Dawn is gentle yet effective :)

It depends on the type of foundation your using, soap and warm water would not clean my beauty blender which I was using with kat von d's foundation which is waterproof. Regular soap might clean it if your foundation is not waterproof other wise I recommend getting the cleaning solution, it makes the blender like new with every cleaning.

I thought the same thing, so I have tried different gentle cleansers. But this really made a difference. It takes off the makeup off of it much faster and easier with just a little bit of this cleanser. Also it's supposed to condition and keep the beauty blender bacteria free. And it's easier to wash out the soapy suds compared to anything else I tried.

I say just bite the bullet and get this stuff, because nothing else seems to work if you really want to get your beautyblender clean. I tried all sorts of stuff - dish soap, makeup remover, other brush cleaners, baby oil - none of them seemed to really do much to clean out the foundation residue on my beautyblender. This stuff gets it clean in a cinch, though. Also works well as just a regular makeup brush cleaner, too!

Question
Has anyone had this remove the color from their beauty blender?
I cleaned my sponge with this and i noticed that the water was running pink with the color dye from the sponge. I stopped using it after that because i was worried about the pink bleeding into my makeup.

It does, but I look at that as a good thing. Liquid foundation probably bleeds the dye a bit on to your skin when using it. I'd rather the pink dye go down the drain than on my face!

answer 2
I've found that the dye runs from the beautyblender when you first get it no matter what you clean it with. I recommend a deep cleaning in hot water before use, and then it is totally fine and won't bleed into your makeup.

All cleansers will remove some of the dye. The BB is colored with natural dyes and a small amount will come off when you cleanse but it doesn't come off with makeup or change the color of your products.

Some pink runs off when first washing the sponge, but it stops after a bit. The sponge itself hasn't lost any color at all - it is still the same pink after a few months of using and washing. The color bleed seems to be normal.

The cleanser did fade the sponge a bit, and turn water pink with use. However, I've found no issue with the pink getting into my makeup after it's been cleaned & dried & re-moistened.

Question
How strong is the lavender scent?
I absolutely cannot stand the smell of lavender. However, I'm considering buying the kit of 2 beautyblenders and this cleanser, as you save around $25 CAD. If the scent isn't too strong I'd be willing to put up with it, because the kit is actually a really good deal.

Honestly I do not smell any scent once the brush or blender is rinsed clean and dries. When you use the cleanser, it does have a mild scent but I wouldn't specify it as lavender. I have lavender oil and it smells nothing like that in my opinion.

That's what I did actually. The smell isn't too strong actually. The brushes just smell very clean. But I would try going to the store and having them open it for you so you can smell it because you may be more susceptible to it than I am.

I have happily used my beauty blender cleanser on my brushes as it is extremely gentle and does not lead to the drying out of my brush bristles.

This is best brush cleanser I've used and I've tried several (about 10 different ones). This leaves your brushes soft and in original condition, even natural hair brushes. Other cleansers dry out natural hair brushes. This seems to be the most effective cleanser and the softest on the bristles. Win, win if you ask me.

Question
is the separate purchase blendercleanser the same as the one in the pump bottle that comes with the beautyblender?
I've just purchased the blendercleanser on its own, but it seems like many reviews are referring to the pump bottle (not the flip bottle) version. Are they the same? It looks like the pump bottle version is more diluted?

It's the same liquid in both - however may people don't like the pump version because it gets makeup inside the container of clean cleanser. The flip top doesn't contaminate the rest of your cleanser. Non pump dispenser is only available on the large size now.

Hi. The Beauty Blender Cleanser is the same formula in both the flip cap and the screw cap bottle. It is however different from the hard soap version (that looks like a hockey puck). I prefer the liquid and if you can get it in the flip cap version then do, it's handy.
