Question
does the pink dye ever go away?
I bought the beautyblender after reading/seeing so many positive reviews. BUT, anytime I use it, the pink dye mixes with the makeup I am applying and leaves my face pink... not cool. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it ever go away? I've washed it several times with no change.

I would think this would only be possible if a harsh soap is being used to clean it. Antibacterial soap, dishsoap, handsoap, bodywash, and shampoo are all bad to use on makeup sponges or brushes. Even some brush cleaners are not gentle enough, so the best bet is to only use the actual cleaner for the sponge. If you use the cleaner that came with it then I would think it is an issue with that sponge in particular. I get no color rinse or transfer with mine & I wash & use it daily for the past couple of weeks.

If you ABSOLUTELY have to put in your purse, or you're traveling with it...I'd suggest going to your local pharmacy, and asking for a round pill bottle- I have one that's about 2" in diameter and 3.5" high. Or, look around at home and see if you have an old one that you can wash out & sanitize :)

I wouldn't recommend buying this product if you intend on carrying it around in your purse just because the sponge is easily ripped if bent the wrong way. If you absolutely need to carry it around, you can place it in a paper towel and then into a plastic bag.

I saw little pill boxes at the drugstore that would work. They're just about the right size for this; you might have to squeeze the sides of the Beautyblender just a little. Or if you own the MUFE kabuki to go, the little zip bag is just about right, too.

You can keep this sponge in a small plastic container and put it inside your purse- be sure it's hygienic. But as for myself, I put this sponge in a plastic box along with its cleanser and my other sponges. Rarely bring beautyblender sponge anywhere with me because I use it only for applying my makeup base at home.

I don't carry mine with me. The foundation I use is great and lasts 15 hrs, so I never need to reapply while I'm out. If I had to take it with me though, I would put it in a ziploc baggie and stick it in my makeup bag in my purse. This is because it stays damp for a while after using it.

Well, there is this platform thingamajig that it comes with, where you can set it down in the little hole of the platform so it dries. That way it's not sitting on the desk getting dirty or anything. But as for carrying it around in your purse, I wouldn't suggest it.

I've tried just about every makeup sponge including some suggested and they can't come close to the same results! I have large pores that show under makeup & primer using any other sponge even using the same technique as instructed for the Beauty Blender. This is the only product that hides my large pores using only my vegan friendly minerals. I don't even need to use primer because this sponge works it's magic with very little help from my minerals. It is well worth buying & I can honestly say I'd pay quadruple the current price for the results I get using it!

I regular sponge that you wet.. it might take a little longer "bouncing" the product around since it wont be as big as the bottom of the blender but i think you will get the same results. You could also buy the cheaper versions... Sephora (yellow blender) has one and they sell one at Target (purple/blue)

My first blender only lasted me a month, only because I didn't care for it properly and I pretty much ripped it in half. Oops! But, my second blender, last me about 10 months. I wear makeup almost daily and used it every time. I recommend that when you clean it, be very careful! Don't try to man handle it or you'll end up ripping it apart like I did. If you're gentle it'll definitely last more than 3 months.

Three months if you use it daily. You can probably use it for a longer period of time. But for $20 averaged over three months.... this product ends up costing you about 2 cents a day.

You can just run them through water and lay them out. They dry super fast! I've been using mine for almost 2 months and they look as good as new.

Question
Does this absorb less makeup than other sponges
One of the reasons I switched from my regular ole disposable makeup sponge to a foundation brush was the huge waste of foundation when you use a sponge. Does this sponge absorb/waste less foundation than a regular makeup sponge? Does wetting the sponge help minimize wasted foundation in any way?

You are recommended to wet the BB before using it. Doing this, the sponge has soaked up liquid leaving more of your product to blend.

If you wet the sponge, the water fills the pores of the sponge, thus not allowing excess product to be absorbed. Absolutely no product is wasted with the Beauty Blender :)

The beauty blender absorbs way less foundation than other sponges would. All you have to do is fully wet it so it fills up with water and then squeeze it so it just feels a little damp, then I usually wipe it a little with a towel so that there's no excess water there. Hope that helped!

Here's what I do: I dab my foundation onto my whole face with a finger and then use the sponge to pat/stipple/blend it out. I haven't been pouring foundation on the sponge or even dipping the sponge into the foundation. (I have put a dab on the tip of the sponge to use around my nose.) I sure hope that helps. Have fun playing!

Question
Does this work with tinted moisturizer?
I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and I am wondering if this product might absorb my makeup since the coverage is already pretty sheer? I usually just apply with my fingers, but I'd like to try the sponge to avoid shine and create a natural finish.

I would suggest running it under water before popping on the TM. I also use it with my Laura Mercier TM, and it works beautifully. I think wetting it allows it to blend better and also absorb less product. I think you could also "build up" the coverage of the TM with a few small layers with this sponge-and still have a very natural finish.

SO easy to use....Just get it wet and I mean really run it under water until it doubles in size....SQUEEZE all the excess water out of it...so the blender is just kinda damp. Put some foundation on your hand (thats how I like to pick it up gives you more control...you can also dab it on your face if you prefer). Then just dab the wide end over your face kind of just pressing your foundation in until it blends out...you can also use a rolling motion BUT i find the sponge kinda absorbs more of your product and I like to keep as much product to use instead of wash down the sink. You can use the pointed end for getting in under your eyes or anywhere it is hard to really get and just roll it.
