Questions & Answers for Bliss Peeling Groovy Facial Serum

Question
Anyone with african american skin tried this?
I just bought a bottle after reading all the great reviews. When it got here, I notice that the bottle says - people with darker skin may be prone to undesirable skin pigmentation change. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? Will it DARKEN my dark spots? Would love to hear someone's experience with this. Thanks!

Yes! I have been using this for about a month and have noticed results. I have severe hyperpigementation on the sides of my face and tweezing and picking scars under my chin. This product has lightened these marks tremendously. It has also made my face brighter all over. I only use at night as it is strong. make sure you get the triple oxygen mask as well. P.S. use it on your hands! It will make them softer and more youthful. Please let me know your findings. I am in the market for a new moisturizer

I've been using peeling groovy for about a month, i have dark skin (example angela bassett) and i have definitely noticed a change, for the better. i called bliss to ask about that warning, and they told me that because this is an exfoliater, as the dead skin sloughs off, it may make your already dark spots appear darker until they start to fade--which they will. my dark spots are fading and my skin is looking great. i also use the bliss pore perfecting polish about three times a week and the steep clean mask once a week, which i think are all working in concert. additionally, i have added clinique even better moisturizer (it has sunscreen, which you need when using peeling groovy) and also works as a skin tone corrector, for the double whammy. hope this helps!

I am actually fair skinned, but I have freckles and it makes them not stand out so much. I imagine it will do to your skin what it does to the pigment in my freckles.....lighten it a little.

You can use Peeling Groovy twice a day, morning and evening, after cleansing and toning and prior to moisturizing. If you are using another fave treatment in the morning, you can use Peeling Groovy as your night time treatment.

You're right, the instructions are vague...but this is how you use it. After your evening facial cleasing routine, use the Peeling Groovy Serum- then let it dry on your face 3-5 minutes, follow up with your evening moisturizer. That's it! It's great stuff.

I formerly used Bliss Sleeping Peel Serum and currently use Bliss Peeling Groovy. I apply this product nightly and my skin looks amazing and most importantly, free of breakouts. Not sure if the formula has changed; the consistency and fragrance are quite similar in my opinion. This product works better than anything my dermatologist has ever prescribed.

No, it's meant to be left on, like any other serum. I've only been using it at night because it's a bit much, so if it's too strong for your face, try only using it once a day.

Question
Peeling Groovy & Eyes
Can this serum be safely used on the under eye area? I love this product, and would like to see if would have a positive effect on the fine lines around my eyes, however, I have heard that exfoliating the eye area is off limits. It seems, based of the product reviews, that many people have successfully used this product in the orbital area. my question is simply, should I? Is it safe? Thanks!

Why on earth wouldn't you exfoliate around your eyes? Even my doctor says to do this and when I have peels done they take it as close to my eyes as possible. It's the area most prone to dry lines and wrinkles. I've used this for years all around the eye area and it's the most gentle exfoliator I've used around the eyes. No rubbing or tugging delicate tissues. It's improved the eye area just like the rest of my face. (Listed in another review) I still use Aloette a few times a week, but this seems to help maintain the level of exfoliation til it's time to exfoliate again and then there's less for the Aloette to exfoliate. I use it sparingly around the eyes and I also close my eyes til it's soaked in a little so the vapors don't irritate my eyes.

The skin under the eyes is WAY too delicate to need exfoliation! Even if your eyes 'tolerate' it, don't do it. That extra stress is enough to cause damage.

I have applied this under the eyes. Once I applied it too close and some got into my eye and irritated it, but if I don't apply it right next to the eye, no problems. I put it under my eyes every night and like my results.

Yes. If you have very sensitive skin, use it on your inner elbow first. If there's no irritation it should be safe for you. As peels go this is a fairly gentle one, but any peel makes you more prone to burn so use a good SPF and moisturizer.

Is this supposed to burn?
I have tried this twice now, on clean skin, and it seems to slightly burn and irritate my face. Is this normal? I have washed it off both times.

I use this all the time and it has never burned. I would discontinue. I use Proactiv and have VERY oily skin and this product keeps it under control at night. I would not use this if you have dry skin.

Yes, it does burn (or "tingle") - especially the first few times you use it. The sensation for me gets much less after a few uses. It is a peel, so that feeling is just the serum doing its job! I have been using this product for 3+ years, and believe me, it is worth it!

After cleansing/toning or whatever your cleaning regime, apply to the face (avoid eyes) and neck - wait 5 mins before then applying day/night cream. If your face is dry use every other day, if oily you could use daily. You don't need to remove it (the peeling title is a bit mis-leading I know). Hope this helps!!

I also do lactic or glycolic peel once a week and started to use this serum, but I found it unnecessary. Now I'm gonna have a break with those weekly peels to finish the serum.
If I need an instant soft face in midweek I use mechanical peel like Philosophy Microdelivery wash, Dr Brandt Microdermabrasion or any other scrub since Peeling Groovy is for nights.
I would say also that mechanical peels are better for summer if someone spends a lot of time in the sun, because chemical peels (AHA,BHA) makes skin photosensitive and SPF30 is recommended on the daily basis.
