The DVD explains how to use the products in the kit. It's very helpful if you haven't used the product before, and helpful even if you have.

It also demonstrates how to use the brushes.

Hope this helps.

I really liked having the DVD, but to be honest it's nothing you can't figure out by yourself. Applying this is a breeze, and swirl, tap, buff isn't exactly code. Still, this was my first real face kit, and I felt more confident having the DVD. So I guess it depends on how confident you are with your makeup abilities.

The DVD shows you step by step how to put on the makeup.
It shows you the order and what brushes to use!
Its pretty helpful

And it also shows off some of the other products that they have. Like eye shadows and stuff like that.

To be honest the DVD isn't a must but it teaches you some simple tricks how to apply the foundation. You can live without it and its best to learn on your own, this kit is fool proof.

Question
brushes in starter kit
I am planning on buying 2 starter sets for my daughter-in-law and granddaughter for Christmas. I received a set last year. My question is I believe that my kit had one of those short fat brushes in it. I don't see that brush in the picture you show of the starter kit. Is it not included now?

The short fat brush is probably the kabuki brush. It's not in this kit. There are three great brushes - I do what to point out that BE doesn't skimp on brushes in the collections. Brushes are sometimes imperative to good makeup application and a poor brush can ruin everything. The brushes in this kit, purchased separately would almost cost more than the kit itself, making this even a great buy just because of the brushes. For example, I originally paid $28 for just my Full Flawless Face Brush which I use for so many things, other than BE. It's a great brush. I love using it with caked or baked cakes of blushes and bronzers. The brush is thick and grabs the perfect amount of illuminizers, bronzers and the perfect amount of blush. The handle fits comfortably in my hand. It's an exceptional brush. I'm getting a lot of use from it. This brush on its own is a great investment, too, because this is the kind of brush you can use for a lot of different things, if you take care of it. This brush is a great addition to everyone's brush collection. It will last indefinitely, too, if you take care of it. I have a lot of brushes in my brush collection, but this is one of my favorites. The Flawless Application Face Brush costs $22, and the Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush costs $20 when purchased on its own. So there's already $70 worth of brushes in this set even before the products are added in it.

This is a sweet deal worth it just for the brushes.

I just got this a couple weeks ago and I love it! It definitely stays on a long time. I am pretty greasy and I stay nice and matte all day with this makeup. It's easy to apply - I didn't even use the video, just the handout they provide. I am amazed at how well this conceals blemishes and redness without giving me that cakey feeling or look most products do. I would highly recommend. I am also prone to breajouts from new products and so far so good on this one!

Hi,

The best thing you can do regarding which shade or product to choose, is to go to a Sephora if one is near you. The consultants there are trained to help customers pick perfect shades and the right products, addressing each issue the customer might have. Sometimes what has been suggested to me has been surprising, but they're always right. Having someone on a review board suggest a shade is based on someone else's perspective never having seen you or your skin. If there is not a Sephora near you, I suggest you call the 877-SEPHORA toll free line, and they'll also be pleased to give you a phone consultation. This way you can get something perfectly suited to what you need, and not what someone reviewing here happens to personally favor for themselves. The Sephora consultants are much more objective and can deal with all sorts of skin conditions and issues and shade selections much better than any of us can, when it deals with specific issues.

Hope this helps

If you're afraid that you're to light, then go a shade darker, summer is comming, which means tans... The kit itself also comes with two shades, so if one shade is to light blend them together. I have to blend mine together to get the perfect shade for my skin. And trust me, you'll have no regrets with this product!

Question
how to cover pores??!!
I just got my kit, and I applied it for the first time with the Prime Time Primer underneath. The lady at the store used the concealer brush to put some onto my pores to cover it up, but when I did it at home, it seemed to just sit on top of my pores and accentuated each and everyone of them to look like craters! Maybe i'm not doing it properly, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to apply it so that my pores look diminished?

Try using the brushes that are included in the kit and blend really good and do not use too much of the make on the brush a little goes a long way. Remember blend, blend and then blend again. Try that.

try not to use too much and don't use the brush. I the primer but not too often, I actually find that the foundation works well alone. It does help though if you 'scrub' your face prior to using it. This will help to even out the skin before applying any of the BE products

I noticed that, too. The directions on the back of "Prime Time" say "once dry, follow with foundation." I have better results if I put on the primer very sparingly, then go do something else. I return in about 5 min. and start brushing on the foundation. Seems to work much better for me!

I'd say medium, you sound like my color. There is lso a good difference between the two colors in the medium kit. the medium is more red toned and medium beige is well, more beige. I use both of them at different times of year. Also, if neither is close enough, they blend together well.

Unfortunately, I don't think so - while I can't speak for all stores, I think you'd need the receipt for the individual product and work that way. You can, however, try phoning a store and asking about bringing it in - while I know online may be quite difficult, the stores should be a bit easier to deal with on returns/exchanges. Or if a store isn't anywhere near you, you might try calling customer service, but I don't know how they would handle that.
