Here is the REAL answer: some people *definitely* have problems with silicones, especially cyclopentasiloxane. Others, including many acne-prone people, do not.
I, for one, thought I had adult acne for 3 years. Except that when I finally eliminated cyclopentasiloxane from all my skin, hair, and makeup products, I suddenly didn't have acne anymore. have now gone a year without a single pimple simply by eliminating this ingredient from all parts of my routine.
So Smashbox is wise to make a primer without silicone for those with problem skin--and those with regular skin! However, not everyone with problem skin or regular skin needs it.
Trial and error is the only way to find out.

Ive had no problem with the silicone or any of the ingredients in this product. i actually bought it because i have very sensitive/allergy prone skin. its very gentle and fragrance-free. ive tired the smashbox and like the lancome much better. ive been using it for a while and think its actually improved the overall look of my skin.

It contains silicons and emolients that create an even canvas for foundation so the product glides smoothly and evenly over skin; color stays true and more vibrant. It will not clog pores.
