Questions & Answers for Josie Maran Tinted Moisturizer

Question
Does this product irritate sensitive skin?
I am looking for a tinted moisturizer that is good for my skin and won't cause inflammation. My skin is not hypersensitive, but it is often prone to reactive redness and allergic reactions to harsh chemicals. I need an all-in-one product (moisturizer, sheer foundation, sunscreen) suitable for fair Irish skin. Is Josie Maran's Tinted Moisturizer in Creme the one for me? Thanks! =)

Yes, I am fair with slight yellow undertones and the Creme works perfectly for me. I tried the the Butter shade but found that it was too dark for my skin. I love how soft the tinted moisturizer goes on and with the Josie Maran powder on top, I'm set for the day. Incidentally, I apply the tinted moisturizer with a foundation brush and it goes on smoothly. I then apply her powder with a fluffy brush and the look is smooth and polished. I have not had problems with the product separating because I shake it before using it. After a while, it is not necessary to even shake the tube anymore. I have not had any allergic reactions to this product and have been using the tinted moisturizer for 18 months now. Hope this helps!

I have acne-prone, sensitive skin and the chemical suncreen in this tinted moisturizer is freaking my skin out. This is my second day testing it and my skin is a red, itchy, irritated, flakey mess. The skin under my eyes is all taut and crepey looking. I also have two new painful cysts that cropped up today and I haven't had one of those since last spring. I really wanted to love this tinted moisturizer because I love her regular Argan Oil in the dropper bottle, but I will have to return this tinted moisturizer. I think I'm going to try Philosophy's new Supernatural Superbeautiful Good-For-Skin Makeup SPF 20 instead. I know that one uses only physical suncreen.

Hi Jamielyn,
This product did not work for me at all. It was super oily and it separated after only a week of purchasing it. I also got a major break out from the it. It is also a bit heavier than I like a tinted moisturizer to be.
I actually LOVE Philosophy's Supernatural Poreless /Flawless SPF since it has a bit of tint, leave's my skin super soft, takes away redness and is an SPF all in one.

Hope I helped!

I too have sensitive skin with similar reactions to products. This has not only NOT caused a reaction or breakout or anything but I feel it has improved my skin over the course of the few weeks I've been using it. I say give it a try.

You could use a primer. I use Paula's Choice 1% BHA Lotion as a primer and it looks great. I've also Josie Maran's Argan Oil (just 2 drops rubbed between my fingers and spread all over my face and allow to absorb) before applying the tinted moisturizer with great results.

On occasion I have used a primer. However I have found the product looks great with or without primer. It's just not necessary.

Question
Need help with color selection (light/medium skin tone)
I have a light/medium skin tone. Clinique Almost Makeup in Neutral is a spot-on color for me. However, I would like to use somerthing more natural. I'm not sure whether Butter or Linen would be better suited for me. Butter looks like it might be a shade too light and Linen looks like it might be a shade or two too dark. Maybe I should just get both and mix them?

I would go with the Butter which would more than likely blend with your skin more naturally. Linen is for darker olive skins.

I am a blonde blue eyed over 40. I use butter. I found linen too dark. With butter, i look as though I'm not wearing any makeup.

Sephora is very generous with samples. You can obtain samples from any store that carries the Josie Maran line. I would call before you go, however. My local Sephora doesn't have her products. Alternatively, you could order both shades online and see which one is better with your skintone. Sephora has a great return policy and free return shipping if you need to return one or both.

Depends on your skin type & where you live. I have combo skin & live in an area with dry cold winters & humid hot summers. In the winter I may use a moisturizer if my skin is feeling particularly dry. In summer I skip that step as I just don't need the extra moisture.

I haven't seen any gluten or wheat products listed in the ingredients. But your best bet is to go on Josie's website (josiemarancosmetics.com) and send them an email. They're great about responding quickly.
