Question
Is it possible to go too light in picking a shade?
I'm not sure which shade to pick. I have brown hair and eyes, and am somewhat light/olive skinned with blemishes. I'm afraid of something looking too peachy or yellowy, and am looking for more of just an under-eye brightener. Could #1 be almost too light, though?

It all depends on what you're using it for. If you use it under you eyes to conceal and correct you want to find a color that matches your skin. You don't want your under eyes to look unatural and not blend into your complexion. If you are using is as a highlighter, you can't go wrong with any shade. I would actually reccomend going lighter so it adds glow to your skin.

i would go with #2 it does not go on cakey or thick so maybe you could pull off #1 but id go with #2 just to be safe. I have color number 2 and im medium toned maybe even light-medium, and #2 is great... it looks pretty light when i applied it to my hand but it blends beautifully so i wouldn't be too too worried, its very thin.

I think either color would be fine - I'm asian (but pretty light) and i use #1 and when they started making these other shades i went to a sephora store and tested out #1 on one side and #2 on the other. Honestly, the salesperson and i both thought #1 looked better. (We put it under my eyes) I dunno if it would be different for other areas though

go with #3. I picked ivory and it is light for me, and I am light to med., but I am making it work, blending it well with my foundation. This really is a great concealer. I love it.

I use the # 1, Luminous Radiance, and it isn't too light for me for under the eyes. However, my skin has pink undertones. With light olive skin, the # 2 may be a better choice. But, the product does blend very well into your skin, so it doesn't look heavy or obvious.

#1 is going to be the wrong shade if you have olive skin. It's for pink-based complexions, and yours should be yellow-based. I have the #2, and I think it's nothing short of miraculous. My skin is light though, yellow-based, and this is a light concealer, but not too light for me. If you consider your tone to be olive, I'd take the medium complexions yellow-based color, which should be #4 if my memory serves me right.

I'd go with 2. The color my monitor shows is pink for 2 while the actual product is not pink. I bought 2 and it is perfect. I have fair skin with yellow undertones (I tan easily but have no tan now). If you have a tan I'd think 3 would be better.

#1 has pink undertones and is actually darker than #2, which is totally confusing, but true. #1 also tends to oxidize. I have extremely fair skin with pink undertones and #2 is perfect for me. Live and learn.

I have very fair, pink skin and the Sephora makeover consultant picked #2 in Touche Éclat for my skin tone, not #1. I know that the description says #2 is for yellow undertones, but it is perfect for my very pink skin so I would go with #2 if your skin is like mine. #2 looks totally natural on me.

I think color #1 doesn't look yellow on the skin, it just has warmer undertones...color #2 is great if you have pinkish undertones. I am very fair, but not pink, and I use #1 and have great results. Hope this helps!

Found and loved this before they offered different shades. Re-ordered in #201 (item#1120773). Works very nicely for me. One gripe about this product: no indicator when it's running out! So Annoying!

Yes...this is a very effective concealer! I've had a hard time finding a good concealer and this product is excellent!! It's build-able and lasts a while. After I dab a few dots (depending on the coverage I need) I tap a bit of powder (light in color) over the concealed spot...long coverage!

It can be used as a concealer, especially on red marks. But if you need heavy duty coverage, this won't be enough. Though you could use concealer in the am & use Touche Eclat for touch-ups.

This product is VERY sheer and should really only be used as a highlighter. I don't believe it would work well at all to cover a blemish. The product is slightly shimmery and it may actually bring more attention to what you are trying to cover.

This is NOT a concealer, it is a brightener…..translation, anything you want to highlight, this pen will do so. If you have acne, and use this product as a concealer, you will be miserable.
You may want to try Bare Escentuals for great coverage without chalky or mask-like results…and it's also good for your skin.

I think it depends on the color of your scars in comparison to your skin tone. If it's only a shade or two, perhaps but this is somewhat sheer and will not cover completely or paint over, if that makes sense. Would using a light product like this, with a dab of finishing powder work for you if it significantly lightened those areas without actually painting over? If you're looking for complete and total coverage, I'm not sure this would do the trick.

The Sephora rep told me I was an 8 (similar coloring). I do not find that it performed as advertised. I am wondering if a lighter color would be more effective.

It's hard to say. You have to try it on and look at it in both artificial and natural lighting. If you pick a color too dark it won't do it's job as well and a color too light will make it look very obvious that you have illuminator on (kind of ghostly).

I am roughly the same coloring as you and I ended up buying "shade 2". It was a lot lighter than I would have normally chosen on my own, but after I tried it out it, it blended in the best and had the most radiant effect.

I have brown hair and hazel eyes, and mixed tones in my skin (ruddy cheeks with dark undereye circles). The Light Radiance (the first one listed) was a guess, but it's perfect... It looks a bit pink coming out of the tube, but it's actually very sheer. So in other words, their description is pretty good from my experience. Good luck!

I get only about 3 to 4 weeks use, but I use it all around my eyes and above my brows to brighten eyes and disguise bags. So, I guess it depends on how much you want to highlight.

Two to three if used lightly and properly. BUILD the coverage. Let a light layer dry first and reapply a second layer if needed. But do each lightly!!!

Apply after your concealer. This product is sheer and adds a brightening effect; it doesn't hide dark circles so concealer remains a must with this product.

A makeup artist at Norstrom introduced me to this product. He put Armani master corrector concealer under my eyes first (your favorite concealer will work....but this one works wonders if you're in the market for one), then brushed this all around the under eye and between eye area and patted dry. I was amazed with the results on my bad dark circles.

if your circles are dark disccoloration below the skin's surface, do concealer first and then use the highlighter pen. If your circles are really shadows, like mine, you may be able to use this instead of concealer.

This product is to be used as the last step in ur makeup! It works wonders if u apply a small drop and then stretch it out. You should also apply it right under your brow line and the outside corner of eye!

i have oily skin and tend to break out but this product has worked great for me. i only use it under my eyes and around my lips to brighten my face but it never looks oily even after 8 hours of wear. hope it works for you because its a great product!

Yes, in fact the salesperson at the counter used it as an eyeshadow primer. But personally I use a different product as primer. I apply eyeshadow everyday, this is too expensive to use as daily primer. This one is a brightener, so applying eyeshadow over it defeats the purpose somewhat. But yes it can be used as a primer.

How can u tell what undertone your skin has?
I am looking to buy a concealer to help cover an age spot, acne mark ... whatever. It is kind of a lighter than a freckle, which i do have on other parts of my body, on my face. It has not always been there but is where I had had years ago a very bad pimple/blemish.

As an illuminator the touche eclat alone will probably not completely cover up spots. It is sheer and will help perhaps if you use a concealer first and then put this touche eclat over on top of the concealer to lighten it up a little.

#3 is a good color to correct age spots. It is a peach tone which is the perfect color to forgive an age spot

You can tell if you have cool undertones or warm undertones in many ways. One way is the off-white and pure white test. You try on an off white color (cream, eggshell, ivory etc.) and a pure white color. If the off white is more complimentary to your complextion then you have warm undertones, if the pure white is complimentary then you have cool undertones. If both have the same compliment then you have cross of undertones. I don't know if this will help you with concealer and foundation, but it does help for picking out lipstick colors with warm and cool undertones!

Go to a local Sephora and step over to the Makeup Forever Line. It used to be that 2 or three undertones were identified, if prominent they could be color corrected with a a sheer colored primer. Sounds like you could benefit from one of their color correctors, (they identify several!). Find the one that makes your discoloration disappear (become neutral) when foundatio n is applied. After, the descriptions says you can use it either way, but I found if you use it after, it wipes of a little and messes up the perfect finish it has.

I use it after foundation is applied and if you're using the proper shade it will blend beautifully. I have to say, sometimes I skip the foundation and use only this for day. It is that good!
