yes you should really only use it to get makeup off. I wouldn't recommend it as a daily fascial cleanser.

I use it for nights when I don't have time to properly cleanse my face. It works well for that. It's not a deep clean, but clean enough that I don't have 1001 clogged pores in the morning.

It's perfect for a quick cleanse. I do have to use 2 cotton pads if I have full makeup on. But I don't think that's a big deal. It's really amazing stuff, I honestly didn't expect it to be as awesome as it actually is.

I wash my face first, then use it as a cleanser/toner. I don't use it as a makeup remover so that the skin doesn't become dry.

It can be used to remove makeup, Or as a toner. You can also use it quickly after a sports practice or such to refresh your skin to keep off bacteria so you don't breakout.

I use this to remove makeup or any residue (even after I wash my face) at night but I also use it to refresh my face in the morning. I think it's great to use anytime and for anything since it's so gentle and refreshing.

I have used it both for taking my make-up off and as a cleanser. It works either way. I have actually used it after washing my face and have gotten more make-up and dirt off that way.

I not only use it to remove make up. After washing your face, this cleansing water can pick up anything left over and even sebum the next morning. I use night and day followed by moisturizer.

I use it for both. To take off makeup and to just a quick clense of the face at night or in the morning when I don't have much time.

Question
How to use?
I have really sensitive skin that's prone to breakout. Washing my face with cleanser makes it always dry, so my question is: Can I use this both at night and in the morning?

This is actually oil free, that will PREVENT your skin to get greasy and more likely to have breakouts.
But you gotta keep in mind that this is just a make up remover! It will remove the excess of make up that are covering your pores but it won`t really wash your face.
I am an user of this product BUT I always use my clarissonic with my liquid face wash after I remove the make up with the cleansing water.
You do need a facial soap after removing the make up, and if you choose the right one for your face you won`t have problems. If you use acne prone facial soaps of course they will dry your skin, but if you go for a vitamin C one, it will help fade away dark spots plus it has antioxidants and anti aging properties, that won`t allow your face to get dry since they are meant to rejuvenate.
And ALWAYS use your oil, serum, moisturizer or whatever you have after you wash your face with the facial soap, you gotta keep it always mositurized to prevent dryness.
I moisturize my face 2 times a day: morning before I get my make up done for the day and at night when I have it removed.

It is great for sensitive skin. I only use the product at night for makeup removal, but it may be a good cleanser for the morning since it does not dry out my skin. You'll have to try it out to see if it would work for you skin as a morning and night cleanser, but it should not dry your skin out.

I also have very sensitive skin and I use it morning and night. I wash my face before using Lancome cleanser only because it tones it better and it doesn't dry the skin as much as using it to remove the makeup.

I wouldn't recommend not washing with a cleanser. I would suggest you use a foamy cleanser formulated for sensitive skin. Then either you this after to remove residue or when you are too tired to wash your face at night. You should you a very thick moisturizing cream also made for sensitive skin.

Yes. I have sensitive and dry skin too and this product is great. If I have a lot of makeup to remove, I'll usually wash my face with a gentle, creamy cleanser first; then, I would use the cleansing water to remove any residue. But for normal day to day light makeup, I use the cleansing water alone and it's just as great. It's really gentle and non-drying.

I use it in the morning and in the evening and it doesn't dry out my skin but my skin dries later in the day so I use moisturizer after each use to prevent dryness later.

I also have sensitive skin that is prone to breakout. When i first bought it I used this product as a cleanser at night only to both remove make up and cleanse but i noticed my face was shiny and I got a few small pimples and my face looked like i fell behind on my exfoliating regime. Therefore i would not use this both in the morning and night. Right now i only use it at night. For a cleanser i am using Lancome Pure Focus and the small exfoliating beads are just enough to keep my sensitive skin breakout free and polished. I use these two products in combination.

The Cleansing Water can be used with a cotton pad morning & night. We recommend immediately following with an oil-free moisturizer. For personalized product recommendations, we invite you to call us at 1-877-SEPHORA & choose menu option 2 to speak with a Beauty Advisor. Thanks!

Question
Is this used in place of washing your face?
So when using this product would it replace washing your face? I would think that it wouldn't really clean your face as well as a good foam cleanser and water. Would this work as a toner as well? To get the extra gunk off your face after showering? Thank you.

I use this as strictly as a makeup remover followed by a facial cleanser and toner. If I'm feeling lazy or don't have time it works as a cleanser but I wouldn't use just for this. It may work as a toner though.

I have used this product, or the one it replaced for years. I use it at night to remove face and eye makeup before putting on night products. A lot of the comments here say that you need another cleanser first, but I don't agree. Further, when I went for a facial recently, the facialist said, "whatever you're doing, keep doing it." Just my opinion, but I think it does an excellent job.

I would recommend using a normal cleanser along with this product. Although it is great for removing any excess residue after washing your face, and for removing light dirt/makeup at the end of the day, I use a creamy cleanser in addtion to using this cleansing water.

I use this "in between" showering for a quick cleanse of my face and at night when I am too tired to wash my face (with or without makeup). It does the trick until my morning shower. It is refreshing and smells great also.

Can you use this alone? For some people - probably. Especially if you don't have a lot of makeup on. I think at the end of a long day - it might work for some people to use this to remove minimal makeup and most of the dirt off your face, and then not have to wash with a cleanser.
But for me - I have Rosacea, so I need to stick to my routine, which includes this to remove dirt and makeup before I use a cleanser to wash my face. Then I have to use my prescription topical and finish with a moisturizer.

This product is very light and oil free, a micellar cleansing water.
It won`t dry your face, it will get you rid of the excess of make up so you can wash it with a proper facial soap and then moisturize it properly.
You can`t just grab a cotton pad, drop the product, rub it all you your face and go to bed!
this is just the first step of removing the excess of cosmetics residuals from your face because after that you will be washing it with water and your face soap plus you`ll be doing your face routine after the process with your serum, oil, eye cream, moisturizer or whatever you use (since you said you`re afraid to have your face dry I assume you do not have oily skin and use a moisturizer or oil to keep it hydrated).
But you could dry your face only using it as your only cleaning step.

Question
Is it a makeup remover or a toner? Softener?
I preordered this product at Macy's and have yet to pick it up. I went to a Sephora store (don't have one at home) and got a sample for a "softener". It was clear just like this. But I'm not sure if I ordered the right thing.

Any suggestions/advice?

I have been using this for 10 years now...as a cleanser (light makeup days), toner after washing, eye makeup remover. It doesn't irritate my super sensitive skin or dry me out at all. Does not burn my eyes either. Use it for all those and you won't be disappointed!
