Skin tone varies based on the time of year depending on the amount of sun exposure. To be extra sure that your foundation matches year round, I reccommend visiting a beauty counter during mid winter when your summer tan has faded and in the mid summer when you think your skin will stop getting any tanner. Some people purchase two shades of foundation (one for summer and one for winter). Hope this helped...

The best way to try out a foundation is to swatch it. Sephora's return policy allows you to return the product, so it cannot hurt to order it if you are not close to a retail location. Good luck finding your perfect shade!

I am still young, but I do have slight laugh lines and creases on my forehead as well as large pores on my cheeks and nose. I found that this foundation easily settled into these creases (more so than other foundations usually do). I'm no expert, but if this product eccentuated these line at my age, I don't think I'd recommend this product to someone with more mature skin. I didn't notice it sinking into my pores, though.

Contrary to what some may think about a full cover foundation, this formulation is rather watery. With a decent primer and powder, I would not think that it would.

I highly recommend going to a beauty store to find a shade match, but my advice is that if you are unsure, go with a slightly yellow or neutral undertone. All skins have some degree of yellow in them and yellow helps balance out redness/pinkness for a more even complexion. However, every formulation is different from the next. Neutral options are good for those of us who are i between (like myself) or who just aren't sure. My friend has been told by different makeup artists she is pink and another would say she is more yellow.

Go to the store. Someone will sit you down and work with you to find the best tone. All comps have different hues of color, for best results you should work with Sephora Reps.

If you can you should try and go into the store and have them do a skin IQ, it takes 3 pictures of your skin and matches you to all of the color foundations they carry in the store. Which is how I came across this product!

I would say no. I am actually wishing I could change my initial 5 star review because of this. I have what I have considered to be combination skin. At first use, I thought this foundation was going to be amazing. The first use was awesome. After several more uses I started to like it less and less. While it starts off gorgeous, after a couple of hours, my face gets REALLY oily and gross, and the foundations breaks down. I end up with cakey looking part around my entire T zone. Also, it starts to irritate my skin, to the point where I can't wait to get home and get it off my face. I've switched to their Mat Velvet and am happier with that.

As luck would have it I checked my Color IQ through Beauty Insider and I am a 2Y07 which means I'm an 07 Bare Natural for BareMinerals bareSkin. According to my Color IQ, this means that in MUFE we would try 140 Soft Beige (medium skin with dark yellow undertones).

If you want to make sure you have a true match, your best bet is to go into Sephora and go through Color IQ. They'll be able to match you to the right color. ALSO have them email your results and use the email that is connected to your Beauty Insider. That way, the next time you log into Sephora and you look at foundation, Sephora/Beautiy Insider will tell you which color you are when you click on a foundation.

Good luck!

Question
Currently using 127, but it's way too dark. Need help deciding what shade would best work for me.
I'm usually between a NC25 - NC30 (I mix the two from time to time). I was matched a couple months ago for the MUFE HD foundation and was given 127. I'm now realizing it is way too dark for me, kind of too yellow. Any idea what shade would be best for me?

So with being 127 it could be 3 things.
1. You're on the cusp of light/medium to medium. You may want to consider switching to one of the light/medium shades (120-125)

2. You might just need to change your undertone. You said that 127 was too yellow so you could try the other Medium colors that have a beige, beige/pink, pink, or olive undertone. I would suggest trying the beige/pink. During the summer I am 153 which has an olive undertone. For the winter, I got color matched for 140 (medium skin with dark yellow undertones).

3. (highly reccommend) I get color matched more than once because the color of my face does change. When you go through color IQ, you can request the Sephora cast member to use the third spot on your neck, right below your chin or jaw line. I typicaly try to make sure that the foundation color I pick, blends into the color of the skin on my neck (which isn't always the same).

BeautyBlazer gave some great advice. Another thing I have learned is to find out more about the color of my skin tone.
So normally I am a medium skin tone with olive undertones (in the winter I'm more of a mix of yellow or gold). For me the undertones are extremely important! I would go to whatever makeup place you can go to and have them see what color you are in their foundation and ask them if you are:
1. Fair, Light, Medium, Dark
2. Ask them what your undertone is

Take that information and look at the colors and choose accordingly. Good luck and I hope this helps!

I also don't live near a sephora, but was able to try it by looking at their shade finder and purchasing a few colors that looked close to my shade. The best advice I could give you is to view the shade finder on the sephora Make up Forever section and try to see which shade appears closest to your skin color. Then try buying three shades and look to find the one that matches yours the best (it should disappear into your skin). It's worth the investment to try a few to get the closest match, because you can never be too sure. Then keep the one that matches your skin color and return the ones that don't, sephora has an amazing return policy. I just ordered this foundation and have found my perfect shade, it makes my skin look amazing. I wish you good luck and I am sure you will love this foundation!

Question
Does anyone know if the formula is different?
I've been using the HD foundation for a few years now and I just recently bought a new bottle. It seems more liquidy than it used to be and a little lighter (I did make sure that the number was the same that I usually get). So now I'm wondering if something's changed.

Anyone else have this problem?

i noticed this too and asked my MUA about it. she said mine could have oxidized, or they added more pigmentation to the formula... which she said was likely the case. when i put it on, it still looks the same though.
