No, not really. I get a lot of pimples & this foundation by itself doesn't cover them. I have to use their concealer, which is much thicker and covers very well. If you want to use just foundation, I'd try something else.

It does an average job covering acne...but nothing superb. I really DO NOT recommend this for covering acne! It is not a water-based foundation, and will definitely contribute to your already existing acne.

I did NOT use a primer in the photo below, but I normally would suggest using one. I love Make Up For Ever's HD Microperfecting Primer in the shade 0 Neutral (colorless). It's one of my favorites!

i love this with smashbox photo finish. but i also really like tarina tarantino's pearl glow primer..it makes this foundation absolutely radiant! does not last all day though, probably best for a night out. i have acne n combo skin and wear 120 and this covers acne great! i still use a little concealer and a setting powder.

I would recommend using a primer so it stays on longer and looks smoother. Also use a powder to set it. I've found that it doesn't cover acne that well itself but I use the MUFE concealer (not the HD one) and it does a great job.

Yes it does cover zits, this foundation is awesome, especially for photos. I've gotten a girlfriend one, my sister one, and I keep using it because it's awesome.

This gives excellent coverage but I'm not sure about covering acne since I dont have acne. I do however have some discolorations and for that I use Laura Geller's The Real Deal concealer. Her concealer is magic, it even covers tatoos. It is not heavy or greasy either and would cover acne nicely!! I think you would like it.

Yes it covers acne very well. If you wanted to use a primer try their Spackle by Laura Geller. I have oily skin and I get shiny in those areas too. I keep the oil blotting cloths with we at all times to help keep the shine under control.

Try mineral powder over the make-up. I too have flaws and it covers well with the powder. Sephora mineral. Good Luck. I still experimenting to find that "flawless look".

It's awesome for covering acne or acne scars as long as you dab not rub.

It can cover acne if you use a latex sponge and stipple the product (pat it on your skin to blend it, instead of smearing, etc.) I haven't used it yet, but Make Up Forever makes a primer that is tinted green, which should additionally reduce redness.

This covers breakouts quite well. I found that if I dab it on with a concealer brush or a make-up sponge it covers completely. I haven't used any special primer with it; just my usual oil-free sunblock. It is a little shiny, so you'll want to dust on some powder if your skin is oily. I think this foundation covers better than any other I've tried, and it doesn't feel or look heavy.

I don't think this covers acne that well by itself. I use Smashbox stick concealer in spots over the HD Foundation and set it with a little powder. That combo works great for me.

Given how think and not very invisible I found this product to be, I am sure it will cover your acne but I think it will also give you trouble if you have oily skin... it is so think and I felt so uncomfortable using it, I wonder if it would let your skin breathe! I don't recommend it!

It will cover your blemishes if they are light. If they are pigmented blemishes and super dark, they will conceal it somewhat but you'll still see it. I suggest using a primer ALWAYS as it smooths out your skin for a more even application and it also helps keep the makeup on longer.

Fingers was the way for me until I discovered the Pro Foundation Airbrush #55 by Sephora. And now that is the only way I go. I always get smooth coverage and actually use less product.

The best way for me is with fingers, then blend with a sponge. I found application with a sephora brush too streaky for me but everyone is different.

I actually apply with very clean fingers. I've tried sponges and brushes over the years, but frankly, they are a pain to clean and they grow bacteria and collect oils. I find I get a better application and finish with just my fingers (and wash my hands thoroughly before and after of course)

I went to Sephora and the girl there showed me how to use MUFE foundation. I use Sephora Airbrush No. 55 to apply the foundation in circular motion. Use only a pea size each time is enough. You can build up for more coverage too.

i just started using this foundation, and i use the MUFE HD Blush Brush #55N... it gives such an awesome coverage - i havent perfected it yet - but im getting there - u cant see the makeup... which is the best part. i feel so natural.... i finish the look with the MUFE Microfinish Powder using the MUFE Kabuki brush

I use the double-ended perfect complexion brush that I bought at Sephora, using a brush for liquid foundation makes a huge difference.

I would say a high-quality foundation brush (Sephora's brushes are actually pretty great) . A brush is the best because you can re-use it over and over and it lasts for ages.

A sponge soaks up half of the foundation that you put on it. This means that you are wasting half of your foundation making it go that much faster. Also, using a brush saves you the money that you would waste buying sponges all the time. MUFE's HD foundation also provides fairly full coverage and a brush gives you better control over the amount you are placing on your face.

I have found that using a sponge works better for me vice foundation brushes, and its cheaper. This product would be good with a brush as well, but it is the matter of finding a good quality brush and cleaning it after every application, which doesn't fit into most people's busy schedule!

I use MAC'S 187 OR 109 brush. If you want that extra flawless AIRBRUSHED look I would use the 187 . Some stipple it on first then blend but I noticed that if you JUST stipple the foundation (lightly tapping) on til you get an even smooth finish it gives that smooth airbrushed magazine cover look. If you want more control, U may use the MAC'S 109 which it's more contact yet also gives a flawless finish. This is just how I apply my liquid foundation.....depends what works best for you and gives that finish your looking for ! ; )

A sponge absorbs too much and its too expensive to be wasting money. I really like using a brush but when I don't have one I just wash my hands real good and use my hands.

I use the Professionnel Platinum Blush Brush #49 by Sephora. It's an awesome brush. The foundation goes on really smooth, almost an airbrushed look. The great thing about the brush is that you can use it right after with a powder, so if you don't have to change brushes.

A brush definitely, you have better control and you save product

apply it with a kabuki brush. it works best with that and gives a flawless finish.

With a quality foundation brush or with your fingers (clean!).

I use fingertips and finish with a brush to make sure its even

i have dry skin on my t-zone and to me depending how much of it you put on the dry area will determine if it shows. also, if you want to just put on a mouisterizer and let that sit for around 2 minutes then primer, it will show no signs of dryness that i have observed on myself and on my friends that have used it or is using it

I have very dry skin, but I start out every morning using First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream followed by Laura Mercier Hydrating Foundation Primer. So far, I have NOT found that the HD Invisible Cover Foundation dries out my skin at all, but if you're prone to dryness, I would recommend setting up a good moisturizing base, and you should be good to go!

Not recommended for dry skin. I'm a makeup artist and have applied this on numerous clients and this foundation will accentuate any dryness. However, if you use the HD Elixir in combination with the HD Primer before the foundation, you will get a much smoother application. Recommended best for normal to combination oily skin.

I have found that this foundation is not flattering to dry patches on your skin. It makes them look rough and stand out. But by itself it doesn't dry out your skin. It is my favorite foundation, but don't skip your moistuizer!

I have very dry skin on my face, despite using moisturing and sensitive skin lotions, facewashes etc it still peels. this make-up is light enough that it doesnt dry out. Also just a tip theres this facewash and lotion that my dermatologist recommended over the counter that is FANTASTIC for dry skin - CeraVe.

I did find this to be a little drying and it settled into my pores. After several hours, it looked patchy. But, I did get this in the wrong shade, so I'm sure that made it look even worse.

This foundation is very moisturizing (sorry about the spelling lol) and shoudn't dry out your skin. It will also leave your face feeling very soft and touchable!!

This stuff shouldn't dry out your face. Whenever I use it my face feels super silky, and I have dry skin around my eyes and cheeks. As long as you use a good moisturizer before putting this on you should be fine.

I have dry skin too. The bare minerals makeup seemed to turn my skin a lovely orange hue and made my wrinkles more noticeable. My skin never felt moisturized. A little of the make up forever foundation applied with a foundation brush and follow with the Microfinish powder. My skin feels soft all day.

I've had a problem with other foundations drying my skin out as well. My skin is normal to dry. This foundation is a perfect balance, my skin stays luminous all day but never gets dry or oily!

I have a similar problem and that is why I decided to give HD a try. So far it doesn't seem to be overly drying, besides a little along the sides of my nose (typical for me). Make sure your skincare regimen is suited for your skin type. Sometimes adjusting your product usage can make a huge difference. For example, I use the Proactiv system and I had to reduce the number of times I use the toner down to once a day (before bed), because it was too drying to use morning and night. This could go a long way toward improving your skin texture.

Try a good moisturizer and primer underneath the foundation. And instead of applying the HD powder which is mattifying, maybe something less heavy?

If dry use a moisturzer 1st. let absorb into skin first. Then the primer. Then use foundation but use a wet sponge. I suggest spraying evain water onto the sponge this makes the makeup easier to blend and not as dry of a feeling.. MUF sells a HD sponge for this foundation that makes the foundation flawless. I have been using a lot of products (from my doctor) due to acne and my skin has been extremely dry lately and peeling. This product did not effect it nor did it dry it out even more... if anything, it's helped. I love it and have not had any problems with it. Good luck.

Have you tried searching the net - found a site called MatchMyMakeup that might be able to get you to a starting point. The MUFE shades are confusing and are not really intuitive if you don't have professional makeup training. I would probably try the site and then go in store and try it out!
THis foundation oxidized for me though...it went a bit darker after i started sweating into it.

I would recommend going into a Sephora store and talking to a colorist. They color match you there and they put a couple different shades on your face and judge which one blends best with your skin tone. The best Sephora stores to go to though would be ones that are either independent or one of the little boutiques inside of a JCPennys so they could take you outside into the sunlight and give you a more accurate reading. As far as the undertones goes, don't spend to much thought into it. Once you get color matched the colorist can tell you which kind of undertones you have.

The easiest way to figure out if you have yellow, pink, or beige undertones is to look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. If they appear GREEN you have YELLOW undertones. If they appear BLUE you have PINK undertones. And if they look like a blue-greenish mixture, you have beige undertones. :)

Another trick to try is to drape your face. You need a silver piece of cloth/clothing and a gold piece. Surround your face once with the silver cloth, than with the gold cloth. If your face blends better with the silver you have a cool undertones (yellow) if the gold is better you have a warm understones (pink).

**Regarding this and the Press-test method.
If you are using acne products that contain Salicic
Acid, such as Proactiv, your results may be skewed. Even if you truly have a yellow undertone, the Acid can make the surface of your skin appear more pink.

the undertones can be confusing but if you never had your skin matched then it can be daunting to figure out what to use. here's what i've learned in my years of trying to find the perfect shade...

beige undertones- usually for people that have that golden sun kissed look and who when tan come out with more brown tones than orangeyness. the shades like light, meduim etc are for how dark the skin is.

olive undertones- these are very similiar to the beige but the main difference is the goldenness of skin. olive is usually for people who have a little bit of a darker base to their skin.

pink undertones- for people with very fair skin and who usually have light hair. most redheads that i've known have this type of undertone on their skin.

the rest of the undertones i really have no hints on because they've never worked for my skin tone so i haven't researched them as much. but i hope my few pieces of info help you out!! :D

If you go to Make Up For Ever's main page on sephora.com they have a Shade Finder tool that I found pretty helpful. If at all possible though you should go to a Sephora store and ask one of the girls to recommend what shade is right for you-- that's what I did.

Try on in Sephora Store (don't wear any makeup.) A beauty consultant will help you pick the most natural color for your face. They matched the color at my jaw line for the most natural looking coverage. It really does smooth out imperfections. Use with the Microfinish powder for the best results.

I had a lot of trouble and so I asked one of the people working in the store to help me out and she tried several shades on my face. As it turns out, I was a color that I would never have even picked. It was way darker than I would have chosen. But it turned out to be perfect.
It can be confusing; let someone put it on you in the store. And ask for a sample to take home and look at in different light!

I was scared to pic a color without trying a swatch. If you look at your inner wrist and identlfy your skin tone (light/med/dark) and think about how you tan...do you get red easily and then fade back to your normal skin tone? Do you tan well and remain tan? Or do you tan very subtily because your skin tone is already tannish? Then identify the undertone (my skin has lots of pink in it) so I picked Ivory with pink undertones. Take a peek at your wrist OR if that doesn't work, find a foundation you already have and you like and match it to the swatches on the website. They are pretty true to actual foundation color.

I would look at the color of your skin (natural color) or if tan, match to that color. The color display is pretty accurate. If you know what you use in another brand, chances are there's something that will look similar to it. If you have a pinkish tone to your skin, your veins on the underside of your arm will appear blue. If you have a yellowish tone, the veins will look more green. I recommend applying a good concealer to any areas that appear uneven or blotchy, before applying the foundation, to help even out your skin tone.

go to the store and swatch 3 colors on skin. Then look at other MUF products look in the mirror 5 minutes or so and see how the swatches adjusted to your skin. That way you'll get the best color possible. You also may need two colors- It dosen;t take that much longer to do makeup- and your color changes constantly. Especially if you live in the midwest or areas with multiple seasons. Or you tan etc. Hope this helps...

I would talk with one of the consultants at Sephora. I was lucky that the Make Up For Ever makeup artist was there the day I tried the product, but it still took him a couple of tries to get it perfect. Now it is the same as my skin tone.
You could also apply it to your chin and compare it to your face and neck, if it blends flawlessly, then you have the right one.

I think it is the silicones in ths that are breaking you out. Same with Smashbox HD, it has six and NOTHING breaks me out and both MUFE and the Smashbox did. But they are both loaded with silicones I think. I know the Smashbox is.

I feel your pain. I love the coverage of this makeup, but I think I need to switch to one that is noncomedogenic. Unfortunately, oils aren't the only culprits in foundation that can cause acne. Some people are also more sensitive to certain chemicals than other people, which can lead to break outs even when no known skin-clogging ingredients are present. And just to clarify what was said above, the suffix "-yl" does not denote an alcohol; however, the suffix "-ol" usually does.

It could very well be that the other answers were correct (not washing off properly, allergic reaction, new product, etc...), but I would say that it is probably due to the Dimenthicone used in the product. Not all products that are 'oil-free' are going to be okay for acneic skin. You need to make sure a product is non-comedogenic and Dimenthicone can be clogging to the pores. I can't use it either, nor can I use any primers that contain it. Hope this helps.

Are you washing the makeup completely off your face? I find that with long-lasting cosmetics, your facial cleanser should be on your face longer than usual. If you're using sponges or brushes to apply the foundation, those should also be washed regularly in cool water and brush cleanser or a drop of baby shampoo.

I only break out occasionally (every few weeks or so), but I have really sensitive skin- my face gets red, blotchy and irritated by some ingredients in moisturizers & foundations- so I definately feel your pain on this one.

Check out the ingredients in this MUFE foundation- like most other foundations, it has parabens (waxes), talc, and fragrance added, all of which can trigger reactions or cause irritation. I think it also contains some form of alcohol (anything ending with the suffix "-yl"), which can seriously irritate your skin as well.

With sensitive or acne-prone skin, it can be really challenging to find makeup that doesn't clog pores or irritate your skin. If you can find it, I'd reccommend one that's oil-, talc-, and paraben-free -- these will all clog your pores -- and take a second look at the ingredients in your moisturizer, toner/astrigent, and/or primer, since inflammatory ingredients in any of these could contribute to break outs. Hope this helps! =)

possible....but make sure you didn't apply the foundation to your BARE skin always use a moisturizer or primer or matifyier or SOMETHING

Skin allergies aren't necessarily caused by the oils found in makeup. You could be having an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients listed in this product. You should return this to the store for a refund.

I love the coverage as well! This product is oil-free, so it should not have broken out your skin. I have blemished skin and this product did not break me out at all. Perhaps its the tool you used to apply this product? You can also check the ingredients to make sure that it may or may not be a particular single ingredient that irritated your skin. Hope that helps!

I understand your problem with the breakouts. Everyone seems to love Bare Minerals and it looks great on a lot of people. On me it feels like acid has been put on my skin. There must be one ingredient that does not agree. I good skin care "Fresh" and have stopped face make-up.

You can have acne from your skin being "too much" of something, whether it's too dry OR too oily. Hope this helped ya!

Actually I was wondering the same thing. I haven't been using it long enough to be sure if it is causing any breakouts, but I'm a little iffy. I'd like to know, as well.

There could be other oils in the product that could irritate your skin. I believe when they say oil-free, they mean mineral oil free, so there could be something else in there. :(

I searched the internet and found this site called MatchMyMakeup that ended up helping me find the right color. Otherwise, your best bet would be to go into the store if you live near a Sephora.

To get an all day stay, I would definitely recommend using a primer under your makeup if you don't already. They prep your skin and fill in fine lines, which is great. Smashbox makes a fab one with Dermaxyl and SPF. What type of coverage are you looking for in a foundation? I think that Make Up For Ever's Liquid Lift foundation with provides more of a natural finish and a radiant glow is beautiful on mature skin with their Lift concealer, my hero, used just as needed. I would definitely suggest going to sephora if you can.... but if you can't, use the shade finder. On the sephora site go to the brands link and click on Makeup Forever. There you can find their shade finder and pick the one that looks closest to your skin and has the closest description. Also, sephora is always willing to take back a product that doesn't work for you.... so it is risk-free really!

most colors on the sephora site appear lighter on the skin. i am a light skin tone and got matched to 118..but then this foundation doesn't go by colors it goes by undertones..if you are, let's say, fair skinned with yellow undertones, go with a 117 and etc etc. hope that helps!

The one caveat here is this: I did not choose a color online because I know that it is very hard to match, so I chose this foundation in the store. The good thing about them is that them have lots of choices for skin color.

I don't suggest choosing a color over the internet....especially when it comes to foundation and concealer because they are the most difficult and most important elements to match to your skin. But if you must, first determine your skin tone and undertone(s). The tone is how light or dark your skin is. The undertone is the color of your skin....Do you have more yellow, pink, beige, olive, etc? The good thing about this line of foundation is that it identifies each of its 25 shades by a skin tone and undertone. So once you identify your tone and undertone, you can match it to one of the shades. Although some people disagree with me, I think it is always better to go a little lighter than your skin color rather than darker if you are debating between 2 shades....a foundation line is the absolute worst. You can always add a little more color with powder, blush or a bronzer if your foundation is a little lighter than your actual skin tone.

I think it would be almost impossible to pick without trying it out. Even in the Sephora store it was difficult and I am not sure that I have the best color for me. If you have a Sephora near you, I'd highly recommend going there to get the right color for the first time.

I put my old foundation bottle next to the screen to try to figure out my color and it worked for me.

I have combo skin, and I used powder over this (the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder), which is amazing. and within 1 hour I was so oily. I thought I hadn't added enough powder so I touched up with more, and again with an hour I was an oil slick. It did look good on camera, but this is NOT made for combo or oily skin types. It's just too much of a luminous finish. I switch to the MUFE Matt Velvet, and that's a wonderful alternative. It's a different finish (matte but looks natural) and it also looks good on camera. Actually it does give a powdery finish. It doesn't make my face shiny at all, but after I apply it, my face still becomes shiny after a few hours.

I love this foundation but I will not wear it without the HD finishing powder. When I use it without the powder it looks a little too pearly (I do have oily skin) yet when I put the powder on the look is instantly amazing.

I found this foundation to dry smooth and non-greasy. It lasted all day through work, playing with my daughter, and doing things around the house. I do use the the Microfinish powder after as well. I think it would be perfect for a special event!

Try applying more of the powder in the t-zone area or where you get shiny. If it's not working, try another loose powder to set the makeup. Also, carry around a compact of pressed powder for touchups throughout the day.

Try using a light dusting of some translucent powder. I used to have problems with certain foundations making my skin so shiny and oily but this one has been amazing. I just lightly go over my face with a translucent powder and it lasts all day. You can try this and also, add a little extra to problem areas. Congrats on your wedding and good luck.

this would be perfect for your wedding photos!! i am a freelance makeup artist and hair dresser, and i have used this product on several brides. make sure to apply loose powder ontop of your foundation, this will keep you from looking shiny/oily. dont be afraid to dust on more loose powder as the day goes on. you cant go wrong with this flawless foundation.

This makeup is oil-free. It difinitley covers imperfections and is perfect for wedding. I have extremely oily skin and I am constantly using blotting sheets thru out the day but the first day I brought this I wore it from the morning to the night without using my blotting sheets and guess what, it lasted all day and I did not even need to touch up it just lasts until you remove it at night. The only thing that I would suggest is using the HD Microfinish Powder after the HD makeup so it can set your foundation and make you look even more flawless than ever. Also apply makeup with a good foundation brush, it gives perfect and even coverage as it wouldn't with a sponge.

Everyone is different so the only way to know is to try it. Even if a foundation claims to be ok for acne it could still cause an acne suffer to break out.

I have acne prone skin and this product doesn't aggravate it at all but the finish is a dewy one which can quickly become shiny on those of us with oily skin.

I have oily/combination skin and even though this product gives an all around even look and I think it is amazing I have noticed that I have broken out some since I started using it. It's nothing major but I have noticed some.

I also have oily/acne prone skin. I have mixed reviews about this foundation. I like it because it does cover pimples fairly well. I usually use a greenish concealer first to even out the redness of my acne and the foundation does a good job of keeping those areas covered. The bad thing about this foundation is that my skin looks really oily and shiny by the end of the day. I've heard that the primer and setting powder help with this, but I haven't tried.

Yes, I use this product and I have a very oily T-zone and I have not had any problems with this foundation.

It depends on the level of flaws you have and your application method. I've attached my before and after photo to show you the coverage level it offered me. I applied the foundation using a dense flat top brush (basically a stippling brush; just more dense) and use small circular motions to buff it in. I did not use a primer for the purpose the before and after photo.

This foundation does a pretty good job of covering my blemishes. I usually dab a bit more on the blemish then I go over my whole face with the Make Up For Ever microfinish powder because it does a really good job of making my pores look smaller

You can use this without concealer by layering on the foundation in problem areas. Using it with concealer provides the BEST coverage though, if you want to look absolutely flawless.

Most blemishes it covers and you can use it as a concealer if you wait for it to set a few minutes and then go back over but for special occations or particularly bad break outs I would use a concealer as well.
