What it is:A hydrating treatment that immediately reveals softer, firmer, healthier-looking skin. What it is formulated to do:Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask with advanced antioxidants is a hydrating treatment that immediately reveals softer, firmer, healthier-looking skin. The innovative formula’s velvety whipped texture has an immediate cooling effect to refresh the skin and the senses. Black tea ferment, also known as Kombucha, is an advanced antioxidant that helps to defend against wrinkle-causing free radicals while softening, smoothing, and enhancing luster. The formula is further enriched with lychee seed extract, known to support natural collagen, firming polysaccharides that help to smooth the skin, and jicima root juice, notable for its hydrating and nourishing properties. What else you need to know:“After first trying Kombucha, a drink made with black tea ferment, I noticed an instant boost in my energy levels and began researching the extract at once. Referred to as the ‘Immortal Health Elixir,’ its history traces back to 250 B.C. I found that just as it reenergized my body, black tea works to reenergize the skin’s cells.”—Lev Glazman, Fresh Co-founder Research results:Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask was proven to have a significant moisturizing effect six hours after initial application. After an independent consumer testing panel used Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask: - 94% reported softer skin - 84% reported more supple skin - 81% reported a smoothed and improved skin texture

In the winter, or when I have a dry-skin problem, I leave it on a looonng time. I have acne-prone skin and this has never made me break out. Even when its left on for hours. During the summer, when my skin is 'normal' I use it every couple weeks, for 5 min on average. If I have too much sun exposure I'll use it for longer than recommended - maybe 15-20 minutes. It feels and smells really soothing so I enjoy longer treatments.

the instructions say 5-8 minutes but i like leaving it on longer (because I tend to get side-tracked). but this is one of the few products that doesn't dry or damage if left on longer than prescribed.

I don't think it is, but the scent could be from the actual active ingredients, not an added chemical. I used this when I had chemical burns on my face and I never had a bad reaction - quite the opposite! This saved my face and cleared up the damaged skin beautifully.

does the texture feel grainy/starchy?

The product IS velvelty for sure! It's like mashed potatoes but not as lumpy. Very light, doesn't harden in its container. Goes on like a thick moisturizer and stays quite wet for the 5-8 minutes it's on your face.

I'm wearing it right now; it smells like flowers (: and lychee which is said to be a main ingredient (very impressed that it actually smells like it is, not just a fake chemical)!

I think you got a bad batch. Are you sure its the Instant Perfecting Mask? If it is I would take it back to the store for an exchange ASAP. This is a great product, but it is supposed to be soft in texture.

Now, I will say that it may look a but rough when you glance in the jar, like it could look grainy (it doesn't look like a whipped face cream), but it shouldn't feel like a scrub or an exfoliator.

Question
what color is the mask?
I have this product. Still have not used it, wanted the SKII mask, but it wasn't available. So the sales person convinced my boyfriend to buy me this. I really like the Boscia blue and white masks. Not a fan of black masks. What color is the black tea mask? (with this name, I guess black, but want the option to exchange the product)

This product is amazing. It is white and velvety soft. I apply a thin layer and then let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. It has a slight tingly effect that you might have to build up to if your skin is sensitive. Very luxurious. It's a treat, savor it!

Yes, it is very gentle... all products by Fresh are great for sensitive skin, especially the Soy Cleaner and everything in the Soy line. With the Black Tea mask you will feel a little tingle, like fingers gently massaging your skin. It helped heal existing blemishes by hydrating my skin and evening out my skin tone. I would take a sample home, or buy the Black Tea set for $80 - you get the Soy Cleanser, full size Eye cream (#1 all inclusive eye cream in all of Sephora!) plus a generous sample of the BLack Tea mask and Black Tea Cream, in an awesome black makeup bag. Also, try the Creme Ancienne for eczema. It's a bit expensive but totally worth it, heals and soothes the skin.

It really depends on your skin, but I have highly oily blemish-prone skin and all it's done is calm everything (it doesn't treat blemishes so as much as sort of neutralize them before they get worse, and definitely has not created any new ones).

I have extremely acne prone skin (hormonal, particularly bad right now since I stopped using Diane-35) - this mask caused no harm, and, in fact, improved the texture considerably. It doesn't sop up oil like a sulfur or clay mask, but nor is it comodogenic. This isn't an acne treatment. Use it because oily skin is also (unfairly!) dehydrated skin.

answer 1
On the whole, no. It has no oil-absorbing ingredients (sulfur or clay), nor any ingredients that break down comodones (salicylic acid or retinols). However, some of the ingredients may promote healing of scars and sore spots. Use the Origins Clear Improvements mask if you want something to improve acne. Use this to hydrate your skin and improve texture (because even acne-prone skin needs moisture!).

I doubt it. The Clarisonic used with Philosophy's Purity, Peter Thomas Roth's Pumpkin Enzyme Peel, and Murad's Active Radiance Serum combined with a couple professional light/medium chemical peels have done wonders on my acne. he combo of products has been better than anything prescribed or suggested by the several Dermatologists I have seen. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if the BT Perfecting Mask would clear up acne, but* Fresh's Umbrian Clay Mask works wonders for acne and is gentle. I'd recommend that instead for acne. The Perfecting Mask is more of a rejuvenating treatment instead of drawing impurities out like the UC Mask does. I hope that helps. BOTH are great products and worth buying.

I actually did not like the Pangea mask--it was more intense (in color, fragrance, and effect) and left my skin red after I washed it off after 10 minutes. I definitely recommend Fresh's black tea mask instead. Although pricier initially, Fresh will also last much longer than Pangea.
