Question
How many coats of the polish does it take to make the color rich and vibrant?
Most of the nail polish I've had in the past, I have to put loads of coats on and it takes forever to dry. Is this product the same?

I can get away with one coat but with some colors such as curvaceous and how cute is that you should use two.

With both Leotard Optional and Break a Legwarmer, it took two coats to make the color opaque. I was very satisfied with the dry time. It was completely dry within 10 mins.

It really all depends on the color you purchase. I have 'It's Bouquet With Me" which is a glitter nail polish, but 2 coats doesn't even really make it that opaque.

I'd recommend two coats. And apply a base coat before applying the nail color and finish off with a top coat to add shine and to make them last longer.

Hi,
I know a lot of people like to say to use a base coat, two to three coats of polish, and then a top coat. This is rarely necessary with this polish. I love the shades and like to change my polish almost daily. I usually only apply one even coat of polish to my fingers and toes, and that's good enough. I've found that the more polish and product that's applied on my fingers no matter what the brand, and there's more of a chance for something to chip. This might not be popular sentiment where everyone thinks more is better, but it's what works for me. I will use a base coat on an unknown polish, or on a very dark coat, to make sure any tint doesn't come off on my nails, but that's usually it. My nails usually look great, the polish lasts a long time and adheres well, and I have no chipping.
One exception: If your nails are ridged or pitted, a base coat can make polish application look much more even and for people with that issue, I'd recommend a base coat. (I'd also suggest having your nails checked by a dermatologist in case of a fungus infection which is easily treated).
I've been really pleased with these polish. One coat with nothing else usually does it for me.
Hope this helps.
PS You can always go back and add another coat if the polish didn't apply evenly, too thinly, or if you want more depth.

One coat NEVER got the full colour of the bottle for me. I've always had to use two and then it's perfect. What I do is I go through all ten of my nails or toes and then I start from the beginning again. That way, my nails are dried enough to re-coat them.

one coat should do the job. but it doesnt last very long before it chips, especially if you are constantly using your hands (texting and typing are some of the main causes)

So far with the OPI Sephora brand I always do two coats. Some of them - Brainiac and Mermaid - would have been ok with one coat and a clear top coat for chip resistance. However, I found that a second coat eliminated streakiness and creates a truly opaque color. The pale colors I tried definately needed two or three coats - otherwise they were sheer and more of a glaze than a full color impact.

Two coats is good, I think. I always use a basecoat. I allow about five minutes between coats and then add a topcoat.

Hi!
For bright shades I'd suggest first putting on a base coat to prevent color building-in into the nails, & then simply 2 coats of O.P.I. color & top coat. Trust me: it WILL be bright enough with just 2 coats.

It took me about 3, sometimes 4 coats to really make this polish as vibrant as the color in the bottle. It didn't take much longer to dry, but I was definitely displeased with how much I had to apply.

I got a darkish purple color (domestic goddess). I put three coats on my toes and they could probably use an additional coat. However, it does dry quickly. You probably won't have to put on so many coats with the lighter colors.

It takes about 2 coats with a base and top coat. It does not take forever to dry you want to wait about 20 minutes and still be careful after because nail polish takes about 24 hours to set and dry and not dent. :)

When I had my nails done at my nail salon, my nail tech after the second coat thought a third coat would be much better and she was right. This color is a 3 coat polish, but the true color comes out and it looks great!

I used about two coats of this, and it was pretty vibrant! I had to remove it after a few days because i had an interview--so I can't say how long it lasts, but its true to the colour in the bottle!

Atleast 3 coats for full, vibrant color. Because the texture of this polish changes really quickly, less than a month, it's not worth the cost.

It depends on the shade you select. The yellows, pearlescents and neon colors (like IM Beauty and Arm Candy) are more sheer, and take 2-3 coats to get even, vibrant coverage. Conversely, I have experienced full, rich results with the reds, deep tones and creams (such as Ocean Love Potion, Beauty Junkie and Metro Chic) with just 2 coats. This polish dries pretty quickly; I'm able to apply a second coat within a few minutes. I'd wait a while longer (perhaps 45 mins) between the 2nd and 3rd coats. Hope this helps!

Two coats are sufficient to get the full, vibrant color you desire. I let the polish dry for five minutes between coats, and I use OPI Drip Dry to finish it off. That stuff really dries your polish quickly.

I bought Mermaid to Order and it only took 2 coats to get the color to look rich and vibrant. I think it depends if you are using a metallic or a creme color. The metallic colors tend to need less coats. The creme colors usually require more.

NO, one coat will do the job. You can add more coats and it drys fast, you would be done in five minutes with both hands.

The colors are beautiful but need at least three coats. Also, I think I may be allergic to something in the formula. I called OPI and they confirmed that it's a completely different formula than the regular OPI. Just look at your nails and be aware, maybe give them a break between polish changes.
